The entire time I've had this game, which is like three months I think, through all of the patches, I've never been able to use mass driver weapons. No matter what techs I research, the best mass driver gun that shows up in the ship designer is Railgun Mk III, which is there at the beginning of the game. Am I missing something, or is this a known bug, or is my installation just screwed up somehow?

Is the issue where no construction or research is done for the first turn and the influence borders don't get set all the way our for the first two turns after loading a saved game fixed yet? Those were the ones I found the most annoying. Oh and as long as we're giving our two cents too, a way to unobsolete ships would be nice for a future patch. Or at least a confirmation dialog in case you accidentall click the obsolete button like I do all too often. (I haven't played
One of the dumbest things I see the AI do all the time is quixotically attacking heavily fortified starbases that they have no hope of even putting a dent in. In fact a simple strategy (exploit?) I use sometimes on smaller maps is to quickly build a fortified starbase right next to the enemy's homeworld, and then starting a war on them. The AI becomes obsessed with getting rid of that starbase, and neglects other stuff, like colonizing and defending
Clicking on the Obsolete button instead of Upgrade. I've done that a few times and it is really annoying that there's no way to undo such a simple mistake.
I'd like to vote also to have a way to unobsolete ships. I keep accidentally clicking on the obsolete button instead of the upgrade button, and its really frustrating that there's no way to undo a single errant mouse click that can potentially ruin hours of careful ship designing. At the very least there should be a confirmation dialog, like "Are you sure you want to make this design obsolete?"
I just got a random crash. All I was doing at the time is manually moving a custom constructor ship: Debug Message: Version v1.1 BETA-3 last updated on: Thu Apr 6 14:45:50 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 4/8/2006, 12:27:35 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Machine Name: CINNAMON Operating System: Wi
Here's the old bugs I've noted that are still in the game even after 1.1 beta 3. (Note that I usually play gigantic maps, if that could make a difference): 1. The game still does that annoying thing a lot where the music skips constantly at about a 1.5 second interval. 2. No production or research gets done on the first turn after loading a saved game. 3. All the influence borders are shrunk down from where they should
When I load a saved game no research, or military and social construction is done on the first turn after restarting. Also the influence zones are shrunken, and it takes two turns after reloading to get them back up where they should be. This same bug has existed since before any of the patches. This last issue could be exploitable too - if I put influences starbase right next to some opponents' planets and build them up pretty high with i
In the United Planets meeting I voted for there to be an 8bc/week tax on starbases not in the owner's sector, and the measure passed. I was playing a gigantic map and I had around 20 starbases, none of which were in my apponents zones of influence, so I figure what the heck. But then I look on the expense report, and it says United Planets Starbase Tax is costing me 80bc/week. I figure that is strange, because as I said I didn't have any starbases i
Ok, I've been playing for a couple of days straight and I've noticed a few glitches: 1. Occasional CTD's - only three so far in about 8 hours of playing, two during end of turn processing; one happened when an enemy troop transport ship for some reason moved right onto one of my warships like it was going to attack or something. 2. The thing a lot of other people have mentioned about sometimes two ships or fleets get selected at t
