Yesterday when playing a game on a large map with challenging difficulty (first time for me at that level!) I was at first a little baffled when several different races contacted med with messages along the lines of "We present you with our finest ships to aid in your struggle against XXXXX". Since I didnt notice getting any new ships, this confused me a bit. Then over the next few turns I suddenly started getting declared war on by about

I think the AI should be really careful with entering wars on your behalf if you are not taking part in them yourself. They should only be willing to do that if its against someone they hate anyway and you pay an extremely high price.
I always play with added luck + Universalists.... I find a lot of Lucky Rangers, especially if my military seems to be lacking. My favourite find was on the Drath Legion's homeworld..... you would have thought that after EVOLVING on the planet they might have noticed a giant precursor starship just lying around Their loss <
sound like a bunch of nerds to me lol And thats coming from someone who plays computer games and spends time posting on forums discussing one of these games?
Ever hear of "Radio Free Europe"? That is exactly what it is. Yes, and that is used against ENEMY nations not friendly ones Mainly nations that do not have their own free press. Unlike western europe where this is not a problem, and wher
Lol.. I find this funny. The AI is acting similarly to real life. Kinda like how other cultures feel about our McDonalds and Starbucks in their cities. Maybe, but at least its not the US government building those McD's and Starbucks. I'm pretty sure we would object here i europe if the US government
Surely that's going to be harmful? I was tempted to declare war, remove them, and then pay for a ceasefire. It might be both cheaper and better for your relations if you buy the starbases from them.
It is probably better to note which techs you are spreading and eventually study the counters to them yourself. What a delightfully evil idea that triggers. How about using trade to ensure that all your opponents are using a certain kind of attack, but only after you have researched some very highlev
I noticed this too. Maybe the AI thinks we have a gentleman agrement not to attack each others unarmed vessels? Because it takes a lot of provoking before it will attack my transports that are heading to invade its planets.
There is a historical precident for the attack advantage. It's called Blitzkrieg. "Blitzkrieg means "lightening war". Blitzkrieg was a German tactic used in World War Two based on speed and surprise and needed a military force to be based around light tank units supported by planes and infantry (foot soldiers). The tac
While I do think SDC is a nice concept, it also crashes a lot for me. That made it a bit of a pain to download the game and all the multimedia files (I bought it online so I had to DL through SDC). Would be nice for us HONEST PAYING USERS to have other download options with being accused of piracy.
I like this idea. In any case it would be nice to stop the silly surrenders going on right now. I find that most races surrender before even offering peace! They should at least try to get a peace agreement going before they throw all the possesions at some random race. In my opinion they also give up way too fast, often before they have lost anything worth mentioning.
If they changed it so that you only fight a fraction of the population, they would also have to change how many troops can be transported by each ship. Otherwise the attacker would gain a huge advantage by such a change. Then it wont matter as much how many transports you send out, because you are no longer draining your population in the same degree and suddenly that aspect of the game is gone. The 1.1 chances to pop growth were made to force players (and the AI) to focus more on keeping the po
Maybea stupid question, but how do I download this through the Stardock Central? I have checked of "Show Pre-release updates" and tried selecting "Check for application updates" but no 1.1 beta is to be seen anywhere EDIT: Nevermind. Just noticed that it can be downloaded directly by clicking that icon in the bottom of this news-item. Strange, considering we were told that it would be a
