Always willing to give my amateurish point of view on things
Amateurish... took me a while just to figure out the basics of your example and still not sure if I even... oh well who cares, as long as anomalies get nerfed in future patches according to your suggestions.

Actually anomalies are far too abundant for my taste - they reappear rather quickly which gives them a quite "inflationary" character in my opinion. If it was up to me, I'd have a bunch of anomalies at the beginning of the game when they are really important to keep an fledgeling empire alive, but see diminishing numbers the older the game gets - at a certain point when civilizations have consolidated there's no sense in having dozens of anomalies popping up. In fact, they should just vanish for
Please install 'SmartException' from the free stuff section in Stardock Central. Make sure that SE is running and start your game as normal. If the game crashes it will generate an exception report that can be emailed to [email protected].
Kryo, I was asking earlier exactly WHICH files from the SmartException folder to send to Stardock, cause although I have that program running, it never creates a report of any sort in case the game crashes.

Same problem here. Playing Yor in an immense galaxy and have my game crashing every time I try to upgrade the freighter in the shipyard. Can somebody tell which files generated by SmartException to forward to [email protected]? Here goes my debug-file: Debug Message: Version v1.80f Twilight of the Arnor beta 2a last updated on: Thu Nov 15 18:13:10 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.*********<br/

I just started a new game (immense galaxy) playing the Yor and noticed that anomalies seem to be bugged. The only thing my flagship does is making anonmalies disappear, but I don't get a pop-up or any noticable benefits, etc. out of them. Iam wondering if other players encountered that bug as well, anyway please fix it asap as anomalies are a vital source for income and bonusses in the early game.

Playing TA beta 2 - what I have noticed so far is that you can't assign Space Mines to warp resources to different planets. You click "assign", the mouse cursor changes to the telltale-green assign-circle but clicking on planets doesn't do the thing. Other than that, I greatly appreciate the changes incorporated into TA, a great game is becoming even better. Also, in terms of stability there's nothing to complain about, played for four hours yesterday, the game being rock solid. Very we

This goddamn "ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\EndTurn.cpp at line 2121"-crash is bugging me as well, could we get a hotfix for that issue ASAP? I'd really like to go on playing my current game but I get the crash every time I hit the end turn button. If you really want, you Can fix the 2121 ship lingering error yourself, but you might have to use cheat codes to do so. load a save game a few turns before the crash, find the offending ships from your debu

I'm getting the following memory error (occasionally) before a game crash from maximizing. It reads: The instruction at "0x4fe7725b" referenced memory at "0x03329140". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the program Click on cancel to debug the program. Any insights? I also get this crash as of recently playing DA beta 6. Been playing for a couple of hours and all of a sudden the g

Me too! Beta 5 seems to do the trick, I also noticed the game runs a lot smoother and more stable than before, no more crashes so far. Still, the game takes awfully long to load saved games (5-10 minutes). I only play gigantic maps on a laptop though. Other than that, I'm really happy with the improvement in terms of stability over the last beta.

Good suggestion. I'd also like to see an implementation of the ability to negotiate the exchange of chartered space or starmaps Civilization-style and of course, my all-time favorite, the "get the hell out of my territory with your ships/starbases or else"-option on the diplo-screen.

28, and I gotta say I'm impressed by how many oldtimers are playing this game! I don't know anyone in person playing videogames who's older than 30. Cheers folks!

I'm playing almost exclusively with the Terrans too, and in terms of the perceived value (or in this case, the lack of it) of the Super Diplomacy trait, I have to completely agree with Vlacknar. Stardock rehauled the SD ability in one of the last patches, and since then it totally lost its edge. As Terrans you now have to put at least three techs on the line to trade ANY tech the race you're negotiating with has and trading military techs or proposing economy/research treaties have bec

I have the same problem with the memory crash occurring the third or fouth time so far. I am playing the beta 4 with heightmaps installed and everything updated to the latest (beta) version. I am playing on a laptop featuring Centrino Duo @1,73Ghz, GeForce Go 7300 256Mb and 1 Gig RAM, my virtual memory was set to 3 Gigs when the crashes occurred, I increased it now to its max capacity of 4096 MB, will see if that helps. In case the devs want to look into that, I mailed my debug and late

I get this annoying bug every time I open the foreign policies-window, have the stats-tab open and cycle through the statistics of the foreign races via the race-icon-tabs which are located at the bottom of the screen. Thing is although I have SmartException installed, the game completely freezes as soon as the bug occurs which requires me to reset my system and SmartException doesn't create a debug-report as far as I can tell. Hopefully somebody at Stardock can give me hint ab

Concerning espionage - what I have learned so far is that I have to place spies on colony tiles from my AI-opponents which will gradually increase the espionage-level from low to high just as in DL as long as the spies aren't nullified. Are there any other benefits in placing spies in AI-colonies? I'm asking because I kinda expected to be able to sabotage improvements or steal technologies in a way of leading a covert war but haven't figured out how to carry out such actions yet. Maybe

Thanks for your replys everyone! It's just that my game is almost 10 hours old and I haven't encountered any events other than the ones I already know from DL which makes me wonder if there is anything MEGA about to happen in my peaceful galaxy. Other than that, I really enjoy the game - thumbs up Stardock!

I have been playing humans on a gigantic map in sandbox mode (normal rules, challenging difficulty) for quite some time now and am wondering whats up with the mega events. I read beta-AAR's where people were telling fascinating stories about events that had the potential to really topple the balance in a galaxy - so where are those pirate invasions, plagues and stuff - did I miss an option where to turn those mega events on and off or are they just happening very rarely?

I was wondering about that, too. It was really fun at the beginning of the game when every race was concerned about the common foe, but as soon as I had built my own armada to throw into the fray against the Dread Lords, some other race had vanquished them and the game stopped unceremonioulsy. Stardock should at least incorporate an option that lets the player continue the game even when one of the victory conditions is met.

Thanks for the help Kryo, I downloaded the game via SC and even preordered Dark Avatar. Can't wait for the expansion. Edit: Just one thing: I remember having the special ship components in my original game on my computer at home - is there any chance I can get those goodies to download/unlock for my StardockCentral-downloaded version here on my laptop?
