I can agree with some of what you pointed out, but without citing specific examples or solutions, you come across as 'whiney'. The UP does need work; Players need to be able to interact more during the year with the other civs to see if we can get *our* agendas to the table, not just random ones. It would also be nice if a month or so before the actual annual meeting the agenda were set and players could use the diplomacy screen to try and bribe ... err, sway... others to vote the wa

WOW, that screen shot has me trying to drag the view around so I can see more! Cheers, Reaver
if it's on your side it always means you offer it. While that is perfectly true and correct, it doesn't make the Surrender feature anything less than utterly useless. Cheers, Reaver

Happened to me once, I was looking at the cost to upgrade a whole class of ship instead of just one at a time and accidentally clicked Accept. Screwed up my economy for weeks. Not a good thing to have all ship building cease in the middle of a war either. Cheers, Reaver
Can you name other civilization's ships/fleets? I answered my own question last night. Yes, you can name other civ's ships and fleets. Ok, thats fabulous, Interstellar taggers! I can see it now... "Dead Fleet Walkin'" "I See Dead Drengin" "Place Boot Here" Cheers, Reaver
I have seen this too, it sometimes corrects itself when the planet produces a new ship (or maybe a building will do it too). Dunno if it always works that way tho Cheers, Reaver
I like the new look and performance, but it seems like the "Recent Posts" window on the left between "Forum Links" and "Reviews" is only available from the Home page instead of from all pages. Was this omission on purpose? Cheers, Reaver
I think the pirates are a "special case" where they get magic bonuses since they are not a standard "civ". Collecting alot of anomalies(some may affect logistics), taking logistics in the Abilities setup and some wonders are the ways to get greater logistics points. Cheers, Reaver
I wonder how much of what is being seen, particularly on militarily conquered planets, is a result of "scorched earth" policy, where the civ knows its about to be invaded and just decommisions many of its factories etc. to force the invader to rebuild, slowing them down. Of course a flipped planet actually *likes* the 'invaders' so those instances have to be something else. Cheers, Reaver
@Vodd There are a few more items that its supposed to look at when calculating the score, not simply number of games and difficulty level; Population, approval rating, tech level and probably others also factor in to each game's score. IIRC, the MV calculates a 'sweet spot' for the game based on all of these factors so that the optimum score for a given map setup is at a certain timeframe during your game. Win too soon, score fewer points, drag the game on hoping to rack up a big score, s
Sounds like they have a modulus arithmetic error where its checking the random value against the mod of the max intel level, and when they are equal it evaluates to 0 (ie. 2 mod 2 == 0;), so civs that should be at the highest INT level are being reset to 0 by mod'ing against the wrong value (prob should be rndIntValue mod (MaxIntVal + 1) or something). probably need a patch to fix it too... Cheers, Reaver
Did your ships have any defenses at all? the operative word here is 'assist', if you don't have any defenses, you can't get any assistance. I don't know if you can have one type of defense on your ships and then get *all* the types from a SB assist or not. Cheers, Reaver
What is kind of hardware are you running (CPU and MB, OS even)? unless SD wrote their own RNG, they are using one that uses your CPU's internals to generate random numbers. Cheers, Reaver
There are alot of things that make this game less a micro management game. but it also depends on your definition of micromanage. Some might call the ship building aspect of the game micromanaging, but you can spend as much or as little time as you like in the shipyard. Some guys tweak the economy knobs every turn making sure that every single BC is spent most efficiently. I tend to be somewhere in the middle I think, I just mess with them when something happens, like my treasury indicator s
While I understand this isn't exactly a space sim, putting some small touches in like planets that rotate around their sun and are differing radii from the sun would - it'd be a great thing that people could really appreciate. Problem is (for me atleast) that the current star system set up is not a realistic reproduction of how a star system wo
Also, if you are still new to the game it can be a useful learning tool, to see how different things work/react/etc.. But as Kosty said above, if used to avoid unfavorable results, it can be called out as cheesy. I asked this question a while back not because I was cheesing, but because I have limited hours to play the game and I like LOOONG games, so I have to save alot to reload the next time I get to play. I was concern that this would be flagged as cheating in the metaverse. <
However I have experienced the so called "getting over the hump" in some easy games. This is by design and a good thing. At levels below Tough, the AI is designed to make random mistakes. The less intelligent the AI, the more mistakes (in theory), and the easier for novice players. Any complaints about the AI on levels below Tough are reall
Good or evil having a large empire should also run the risk of rebellion. Maybe play it off of culture scores on your planet. The lower it is the higher the chance of rebellion against you. Might be kind of fun when you think you've won and all of a sudden a united uprising happens against you. That will probably never work. I am playing on a
This may sound stupid, but how does one declare war ?? To follow up on my question, I can't seem to enter a parsec that has another civ's ship in it. You have answered your own question. You ca

yeah, there should be an info dialog somewhere that says what the agenda for the upcoming UP is going to be, and then some additions to the Diplomacy dialog so you can see how the other civs are going to vote, and some way to try to bribe err... sway them into voting your way. Cheers, Reaver

PS3 is going to have a Blu ray drive built in, so even at 600 bucks its probably a good deal. The Xbox 360 will have HD DVD as an add-on. So 400 for the xbox and 200 for the add on drive, so thats about the same cost as the PS3. So then it boils down to the games you want to play and the quality of the graphics you are willing to accept. X360 will have lots of shooters, like Halo, PS3 will have alot of the Sony exclusives. There is of course the 3rd player in the conso
