Replay from frustration? Magic never really made sense to me. I can conceptualize lasers, missiles and mass drivers along with their entire evolution. I can understand medium and large hulls. I can understand the evolution of government from imperial to republic to democracy to federation. I can, as a USian, easily understand cultural conquest. Playing games like GC2 can even be interesting meditations on reality. Magic? What's magi

I don't see how you play gigantic galaxy. It took me two weeks to finish off the tiny galaxy with a cultural victory. Thankfully, there wasn't a dull moment in the tiny galaxy. Something was always ready to turn disastrous. How long is a game on gigantic?

Maybe if you weren't pirating the game, you wouldn't have these problems. Ship design and upgrading is easy. Just obsolete designs that you know you won't use anymore. There's a big button that says "OBSOLETE." Try it. If you don't want old designs showing up during the game, delete them from your My Documents directory before starting another game. Easy, pleasey, Japanesey.

You're right. Where is the money? Personally, I'm a 12 round fighter so by the time my opponents are vanquished, they are also broke. If your opponent has money then they will keep fighting. I'm more interested in technology. Good point, though. Throw in the remaining funds when a civilization surrenders. Maybe surrender is where we should get technology, money and ships. It can be done under the current code.

I can see how it would be annoying if some other civilization conquered the last planet so... The player needs to conquer 75% to get the tech and ships. That way, even when the civilization gets vanquished, the player that did the most work gets the benefits. I've been guilty of stealing planets in the middle of somebody else's war. I wouldn't expect the technology in those circumstances. Looking at it that way, however, I see how it's not easy to make technology one of the

Picked up a game after five months of not playing. Excellent improvements. I like it. Played metaverse on tiny/challenging/industrialist/6 random opponents with randomized intelligence. Very fun to play a crowded neighborhood where everybody is evil. Minor complaint... Why don't players get the technology from a civilization after conquering them? We get their buildings and population but not their technology. Considering how difficult it is to acquire technology

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you get up, look for something healthy. If you find a candy bar, KEEP LOOKING. While a banana is ok, a banana with cereal and toast is the best way to start the morning. You see, it's a small breakfast but breakfast is exponential. Later in the day, the fact that you ate a healthy breakfast will be HUGE.

Please do not block external input from voice dictation programs like DragonDictate. I am a Galactic Civilizations II junkie because it doesn't interfere with DragonDictate in any way at all. Some games allow input, GC2 allows complete harmony with my dictation program. Games that block external input can be real heartbreakers for me. Take Defcon: Everybody Dies by Introversion as an example. The controls are simple, nothing beyond DragonDictate. Unfortunately, I can't play it beca

I believe that "Azune" is Latin for "fish thinker." Optical transfer rates are horrible. Have you ever wondered why the xbox has a hard drive? 640 by 480?! You jest. That's 1990 PC standards. 640 by 480 is the resolution of your TV making it mandatory to write games in that resolution. If you have any respect for the fact that you will need your eyes for your entire life, you'll get away from console resolutions. I'm running GC2 at 1680 by 1050. Furthermore... I

EB hates the PC. They want everyone to buy WOW and disappear into the void like the Mayan Empire. The ability to independently develop anything will one day become like the gifts of the Earth--if you can grow your own stuff, it will be illegal. While it's possible to develop for XBox and PS, try selling anything if they don't approve of your software.

Azeroth, GC2 isn't a console game. Consoles are still a horrible platform for anything requiring more brainpower than a fish. I wasn't a fan of 4x games until Galactic Civilizations 2. The ship builder rocks. The AI is decent. The game gets rolling quickly. I wish it had a less restrictive economy so my custom ships aren't so frakking expensive but that could mean I just have to play smarter. Lack of CD restrictions and the accompanying Star Farce controversy is what mad

I support stardock's quest for the perfect game. Eventually, they will want to add multiplayer. The path they are currently on makes sense. Build an army of fanboys by getting their input on improvements. The dust will settle and multiplayer will arrive. Just chill and enjoy the most accessible game company in the industry.
