I think I have an idea what happened to Janusk, I had started a new game under 1.1, and a bunch of menus popped up at once as I went to recruit Janusk, I accidentally told him to take a hike. I finished the turn, but had to turn down the graphics options since 1.1 reset them to higher levels. when I started my next game, he was gone, and I have started two more since then without him appearing either. Maybe a flag has been switched that doesn't allow Janusk to show up if you

One thing that I noticed when I upgraded to 1.1 ( and I have been playing with the various 1.09x betas ), was that all of my stored Game,Audio and Graphic options had been reset. My pre-existing races and sovereigns had been axed as well. Because of low system specs, I had turned many graphical options down previously to prevent certain types of crashes. Perhaps some of the people who had more stability in the various betas are now seeing problems because of a settings chang
I recently updated to 1.09q and found some of the random creature stats to have been pumped quite a bit. The game would only go about 40-50 turns before it crashed on me however. I'm downloading 1.09r as I am typing this, hopefully a bit more stable.
As a long time owner of GalCiv II and all it's expansions and a member of the formerly awesome (and now defunct) Galactic Core forums, I want to say how much I appreciate Stardocks work on Elemental and it's commitment to making Elemental a true heir to MOM. The original DOS versions of MOO and MOM were incredible, something I think anyone who posts on these forums can agree with. I felt that GalCiv II was the real heir to MOO, not MOO II. While I tried several different g
Funny how things happen sometimes, I just got back into this game after buying the Ultimate Edition, and was looking to start MV gaming again. While I am sure it will get up again soon, it does seem like it's taking a long time to resolve.
I'm pretty sure Tech is going to have to find a new domain, cyber squatters are a notoriously greedy lot. I hope I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any popular site that lost it's name ever get it back.
A quick thought here; Have any of the previous rounds tried using one initial saved game file for all the people playing on DL and a different one for all the people playing DA? I don't understand if the Metaverse would pop up a cheat flag for that, but if it doesn't it would make for an interesting round. People would be able to compare their strategies in a more "apples to apples" fashion if it could be done.
I'm still playing, though not as much as before. Man, this game is just hard to put down.
Agreed, I never thought that much about different strategies until the last three months. It is amazing the different routes people take to get exceptional scores, combined with the totally random universes, it is pretty much an endlessly replayable game.
I am a former member of the HCH and a current member of the Galactic Diplomats. Based on my personal experience, I can recommend the Galactic Diplomats, The Tyranny of Evil and the Kzinti Empire as a good place for any player to make new friends and expand his/her enjoyment of playing GalCivII. You can't go wrong with any of them, they are newbie and oldbie friendly
Nicely done Silverbeacher.
My submission for Team D Character: Saladin Al Bashir Race: Custom: Picts Time: 2 yrs Difficulty: Masochistic Military Victory 10250 Points. Submission Date: 24/01/2008 submitted to the forum I barely got the win in 2 years, Immediately after I knocked off the Iconians, the Korx jumped me and my forces were out of place. I used my last transport and was down to 5 medium ships. Bonus - It was my 50th win with that character.
I'm hoping that Stardock offers a combo package of DA and TA for those of us who are still playing DL. I looked at the features offered in DA, and the ones I liked weren't interesting enough to me to buy the expansion. TA is a different story, the specialized tech trees will help people like myself who "immerse" themselves in the race they are playing. I'm guessing that spacetimer is not easy to get a hold off since he isn't a regular here or at the core. I would imagine that the sta
A thank you to all those who contacted me about their empires and extended invitations. As I wrote earlier, I was leaning heavily towards the Galactic Diplomats based on my affiliation with so many of them on the Galactic Core forums. Ultimately I have decided to ally myself with them and their empire. Good fortune to you all, I'll see you on the Metaverse. RexDaddy.
My favorite part of MoM was the ability to customize your wizard and race combo's to fit your playing style. That's why I keep playing GalCivII over and over, I can chose or create a race to maximize how I enjoy playing the game. What MoM and MoO both had that I miss, was the randomness of the spells/technologies available to research. If your researchers didn't stumble upon the path you wanted, you were forced to trade with the AI, or live with the consequences. That randomn
MWGO40 seeks MVE to fulfill GA in LST, friendship desired, NS empire preferred, no AMD need apply. Translation: Married White Gamer Over 40 seeks a Multiverse Empire to fulfill Gaming Aspirations in Limited Spare Time, looking for a fun group of players, Non-Splintering empire preferred, no Alt-Meta Detractors need apply. On a more serious note, the empire I formerly belonged to, the HCH is leaderless and I don't have the time as a father of three boys
Update: Mumble, I submitted officially back on the 29th, in reply #171.
The HCH will go down in the "Chronicles of the Metaverse" as an incredible psychology experiment. From my perspective, a new and starry eyed player, Alex Atticus, had the gumption to start a new Empire with almost no experience in the game or the Metaverse universe. What he had was pluck, a "go getters" attitude, and the willingness to ask anyone and everyone to join up. He was polite and enthusiastic and most importantly, persistent. People new to an experience, in this case
sigh... I'm quitting the MVL goodbye.
Reason? By that I mean are you skipping this round or are you not interested in playing GalCiv2 period?
Official Submission for Round 5: Character: Saladin Al Bashir Submission Time: 28 December 2007 Victory Type: Cultural Game Years: 3 years Game Score: 6300
Ok guys, I have a score to post, how did you guys make that nice little screen cap on page one of the thread? Anyway, I got a 6300 in 3 years using the specified settings. Link for that is here: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=11555 I'd like to thank Neilo for prodding me to do better (unknowingly however!) in this round. I was ready to submit a 5 year 6650 score and asked for the password to Group "D" to see if that was good for the tea
I'm having a great game with these settings! I have never played with blind exploration and stopped midway in a no tech-trading game. These two conditions are forcing me to change my normal strategy... and I LIKE IT! I'm going to take this moment to thank Mumblefratz for his voluminous info/insight/advice to all players of GalCiv2 on strategy for this game. I wouldn't be able to play as quickly, frequently or enjoyably without the knowledge you and others have passed on. Bra
My GalCiv2 character is Saladin Al-Bashir and if I understand the workings of this correctly, I post my game to the metaverse (using the appropriate set-up and victory conditions) to make sure no cheat flags are tripped, then post a recap in the round 5 thread. I have been hopping from thread to thread, but frankly my eyes hurt and I haven't found the precise info on this yet.
Hi guys! Some of you are familiar with me from the Core, where I have been a member since Jan 2007. I am interested in trying some of the Metaverse League Challenges and would like to get put on a team please. I am still on the current Dread Lords version (no expansion), is this a problem?
Nice Job everybody! Of course it's harder to stay on top than to climb to the top, now that we have a big crosshair painted on our empire.
We need to develop some "power players" in our empire to really hit the next level, the 10,000,000 point mark. The Galactic Diplomats and the Orcas dominate the top 10 players list, while our highest player comes in at number 23. While the breadth of our empire is impressive, we are going to need some bigger scores to reach the next level. I volunteer to try one of those monster games, who else is ready?
