Definately buy. Games I don't like are consigned to be coasters or junk. Games I like, I generally purchase all expansions for and still play, in some cases even 10 years later.
I have never had an ally surrender to me. On the other hand I have had people clean across the map, who I generate a close relationship with, surrender to me when my allies are tearing them apart.
Not quite, Every player can put 4 starbases in a sector. If I end up with other players building economy bases in useful places around my planets, I try to trade for them. I would really love to be able to trade for mining starbases, but that is probably going a bit far. The most bases I have seen in a sector is 9, (2 econ by the terren in that sector, 1 influence by the paulos, 2 influence by the drengi, 2 influence and 2 military by me, the Yor).
Sure you can. Two ways, but both have to be employed when built. 1) have the planet send all ships to a rally point, the ship will automatically go without any troops. 2) When the ship is built, right click on the ship icon the appears on the right side of your screen... I use the right click method on most of my ships and get annoyed when I use it on troop transports that get sent to a planet, then have to go back for the troops.
It helps if you use Explorer as your web browser. I tried it with netscape and it never processed.
I kind of like the idea for a "Death Star", but give it a real slow speed like .25-.5, not increasable by adding engines.
Definately. I have vision problems as it is, being able to tell just what a component already is and upgrading within tha catagory with a click would be nice. For added fluff, it would also be nice to know at what level of miniturazation is current.
I usually have no problem with pirates, but I did lose one game because they showed up in a 15 ship fleet and started rolling up my starbases and fleets with weapons that I hadn't even aquired yet.
Kind of like a beefed up "genisis torpedo" from star trek?
