That looks really good! I'd certainly like to see it when it's completed. I was trying to go for a horizontal scroll that displayed only the headlines (because it uses less space) but I'm not that great at scripting.

Can anyone make or has anyone seen an RSS feed that scrolls like the bottom headlines we see on the news nowadays? That would be cool.
This is a great article. I like the idea of an information central "situation room" type thing. Dedicating a whole other PC to widgets seems a bit much but I could see reserving a user account for this purpose. Most people I know haven't got a clue about all this. My friends don't pay attention to any of this </TR
I've also noticed that not all widgets will allow multiple instances to run Yeah, I think might be the root of the problem. I imported to Desktop Builder, personalized it a bit, made sure "allow multiple instances to run" was checked and then exported as widget. Works for me and now I can get several of them running at once. Although, s
Couldn't you put nothing in localstorage on script enter or wherever -- Object.localstorage("storage")= "" -- Does localstorage really affect memory usage?Hmm............anyone else want to elaborate on this?
Thank you very much Vad_M, it worked. Thanks everybody. Gotta love this place.
BigDogBigFeet is right. DesktopX is the way to go if you want to create your own cool looking clock etc. Here's a gallery of some clocks created as widgets with DesktopX.
Create a text object and insert this test script. Dim display, display2 Sub Object_OnScriptEnter Call SetWeekday object.SetTimer 1, 2000 End Sub '---Call 'SetWeekday' every 2 seconds--- Sub object_ontimer1 Call SetWeekday End Sub '---Check Weekday and set object text--- Sub SetWeekday display= (WeekdayName(Weekday(Date))) display2= (Weekday(date)) object.Text= display & " " & display2 End Sub 'display'
While using the ActiveX Web Browser I visited the website turnerclassicmovies.com It triggered this error: I decided to visit the site in a normal IE window and down in the status bar it does say that there is an error on the page. I guess it's the website. Is there any way to stop the big ol' pop up from appearing when using an activeX browser. I can close the pop up and continue as normal but it is rather annoying. <br
EDIT: Thanks, Vad_M. While I found this script to be extremely useful I still can't get the action to fire as soon as I select something from the drop down. I'd have to click 'ok' before the changes take effect. Here's my goal really: I'd select something from the "Select Group" drop down at the top and the information in the fields below would change according to what group I select
Furthermore, when using a regular combobox I can use Sub Control_OnSelect to trigger an action as soon as I select something from the drop down. I can't do that with a widget.preference combobox. Can I?
I need a little help figuring out how to use this property. Specifically when you change the text of the preset entries, how do you make the change permanent? Widget.AddPreference "box1" Widget.Preference("box1").Type = "ComboEdit" Widget.Preference("box1").Caption = "BoxName" Widget.Preference("box1").AddValue "item1" Widget.Preference("box1").AddValue "item2" Widget.Preference("box1").AddValue "item3" I can edit the names of any one of those entries i
I'd also recommend downloading _Martin_'s BasicBrowser.
Thanks for sharing, BigDogBigFeet! DesktopX is without question the best object oriented programming environment (without the need for much programming) available. Spot on! I tried to get into Visual Studio and my brain nearly exploded. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc
I'm surprised by the results. As another poster stated I thought Allison should have been up there, but BlueEye made it! Congratulations to the winners anyways, and good job by all who entered. Here were my votes for most original 1. BlueEye by eyeballdesign (made it in the top 10!) 2. Mind Full of Music by Bohemy (knew this was a long shot but I thought it was very original) 3. Allison by Jhoss
A few additional sub procedures in this script has the smiley bouncing from one end of the screen to the other and then starting over again. It is set to bounce from left to right. To change directions just uncomment Call bounceLeft and comment out Call bounceRight. Dim maxW Dim minW Sub Object_OnScriptEnter '--Set maximum & minimum width maxW= 100 minW= 40 '---Set object's position, width & he
Thanks for the tip SirS I'll be sure to include it in the next script. Also, thanks for the link to that site.

You mean someone else is named winner, or someone else gets the prize but the 1st person is still the winner? What if they don't want the prize but just the title?
I voted also. There are so many great wallpapers there-- had to go over them several times, but the ones I voted for stood out from the start. Didn't get my vote for most original but I thought these were excellent: Edisso by JJ Ying Trooper by TYCUS Glow by DEZIN
Man, I missed the most usable wall vote! Choosing only 3 is difficult, but I just spent hours going over the submissions several times. I wrote down the ones that grabbed me right off the bat and then went back and looked at some more in detail. Sure enough, my gut reactions were the ones I liked best. So I put in my vote for most original! Do we get to see how all of the walls ranked or only the
Okay, so a while back I got an idea for this widget and it involves A LOT of special effects. Seemed like a daunting task to undertake but inspired by SirSmiley’s cool effects undertook it I did. In case I never actually complete this widget (considering how slow the process is) I just wanted to share the scripts for the effects as I complete them. Needless to say, credit goes to RomanDA for his very helpful tutorials. The first one I’ve completed is the bouncing smiley (my desktop has
I was so confused . . . I *KNEW* I had read this before. LOL! Sorry for the confusion. Whenever I have an odd question I usually like to post on both forums. It covers more ground and gets better results.
Thanks for the tips you guys.
