dm04, You have to think of this in real world terms, you do the good thing because it is RIGHT. You do evil things because you are shell-fish, greedy and rotten. AS in real life (not reel life) the good must wait for thier reward, while the evil path often offers instant reward. But, it WILL even out ... Ex: I play the Terran and make all GOOD choices while the Dreng and Yor always make EVIL ones ... BUT, by the time war comes, I K

Avolon, If your question is HOW to cheat, the best info is in the "Wiki". The link to the GalCiv2 Wiki is located on the HOME page. I do however agree with thurlin that this game is so flexable and adjustable that cheating is hardly needed. The cheats themselves are lame anyway, get 10,000bc, repair a ship, clone a ship etc ... Lt Byram
Hey Zman, I am doing a custom race (The Zeon Matrix) and thier backstory is they are a race of energy beings who have assumed material form to conquer the galaxy and then convert the entire thing to pure energy .... It is my first attempt on Painfull level, so the Matrix will have a tuff go of it...
The econ status is critical. It is okay to BUY some ships, buildings etc... BUT, always keep a Ca$h reserve (approx 1000bc) More important early game (depending on game situation) than military ships is: ... building an economic machine that starts earning $$$$ even if it is a small amount 20-50bc per turn...at first. Before long your income will grow and you can start building warships, buying spying etc. Lt Byram
NIce find moral, Can't wait to use this one to make a grilled cheesy sandwich outa Drengs!!! Lt Byram
Wiz, Just go to the Build ship screen and choose "Nothing" It is in the core ship list... I agree with No118, I always build constuct ships if I am not sure what i need next... You can just switch to another ship if you change your mind with no lost prod. I only switched a Starport to "nothing" once, to complete a social project... Lt Byram
Status update: The econ situation is not bad, but I cannot buy all these upgrades ... The TURN button will eventually help, but the military situation is going to be a challenge... Switched all planets to max social prod. Hope the damaged ships repair FAST. I did find a "boost repair rate" anomally earlier ... Lt Byram
Everything was going great , I just traded the Arceans for Research Centers ... And the border war with the Drengs had turned my way (after some tuff space battles) So the Space Marine Assault Force moved in on a Dreng border system with two nice worlds (one PQ11, one PQ10) ... The simo invasions grabbed both planets in 1 turn !!! Great news, huh ?? - No way !!!! On one planet I got the manufact Cent and on the other, got Bank upgrade ... Now almost every bui
AngelWyrm and the Wyrms huh ??? Looks like the first good reason I have heard for Multiplayer, Hehehehe Byram
Byram says: I usually play as Terran, BUT I enjoy the fantasy aspect of the custom race OPTION ... I have a going game as "The Zeon Matrix", and so far is even more engaging than being Human (????) Hey, this game is all about FUN ....
I argee with #13 puntarenas - this was an OPTION in moo2 and if included in GC3... It should be an OPTION ... Hey, I played MOO2 for years, about 1/2 of games with NO Antarians I loved the Space Monsters .... give me that OPTION in GC3 !!! Byram
I had a survey ship Xploring anomolies in the corner of the minimap near the TURN button... and when I went to click on the minimap to check the ship , I clicked the TURN instead!!! Well, this unplanned turn allowed a Dreng fighter to sneek up and destroy one of my spy ships !!! I could not let this act go unpunished, so I formed the Valor Marine Force, assembled an escourt fleet and attacked !!! After several vicious space battles and a long series of bloody invas
As Kosty indicated, military ship production will depend on individual game conditions... That said, I generally still follow the same early fleet strat. (1) Tiny hull, no engine, no defense, one weapon - for orbital defender (2) Tiny hull, 2 engines, no defense, one weapon - for space interceptor (3) Small hull, 2 engines, no defense, two weapons - a "Top Gun" fighter Also important early for military ships are basic miniaturization and logistics... <b
Byram says: I have seen this a few times, the destination is always the lower left corner of the map... Ship moves each turn is always a top priority for me so it has little game play affect for me...all ships are going to moved anyway, so the issue is mote. I thought it maybe something I did because I cycle thru all my ships before I press TURN...
Repeated invasions by the Drengs DO work, if they wear down the colony pop. This happened to me on a recently colonized planet... But, of course I was setting a trap for the bums !!! Lt. Byram
WOW Sorry about any offense dudes !!!! Just a little humor... The joke is that for all the endless hours I have played this game... ... this is the worst thing I have seen.. So, the humor is in the IRONY that the issue is so SMALL, as to to be non-exist. Great game, wouldn't change a thing. Lt. Byram
Yes, El Conqwest ... But despite the tedious nature of this task, if only for the good of the galaxy, and the rep of StarDock, I will boldy go where no man has ...
Yes prokto, cause laffing keeps the stars from crying ... But it does NOT help when the Drengs and Yor launch a suprise attack !!!!
Byram says: Me vs 6 Al I like large maps, scattered stars, common planets and abundant anomilies with normal tech rate. I like to put the flagship to some use and the early Xplore adds some interest to the early game ... Mid-game build-up eco/research, then switch to military and spread some galactic Influence with my Laser techs ...
Watt about free upgrades ???
I have noticed a TERRIBLE bug !!!!!! Sometimes the tile pic on unusable squares does NOT match the planet geograghy ... ( ex: It appears the terrain is desert, but when you click on the tile it is ocean ??? ) This makes the game UNPLAYABLE !!!! Until this is fixed I am going to uninstall the game and hold my breath !!!! ... or you could hire me at a modest salary to check all the tiles ...
I have seen similar things on planets I grabbed, it makes me think that : AI = Alien Intelligence It is beyond any strat I would use....
Wow, to play as the Dead Lords!!! That would be fun... trying to steal techs by invasions, blasting planet Defenders, blowing up starbases, shooting up the shipping lanes .... Hey, that sounds like it would work for Pirates too!!! When is that Xpansion pack due, maybe by the holiday season ???
Later in the game I will use cargo hull spy ships with xtra engines, xtend life support and max-out sensors. I like being able to move the "Blackbirds" to hot sectors as needed... These types of ships can have cool visuals, the hull covered with sensor mods and bristling with antennae.
In the "what are tiny ships for?" thread started by El Conquest, there is some great info on using tiny hull spy ships. I love using these little U2 ships to keep an eye on hostile sectors, and the enemy AI HATES this. It is a great cat and mouse game, cause I make sure I can out run their interceptors and they will chase the spy ships all across outer space. While this is going on, I am preparing the KNOCK OUT !!! So far I have not tried the diplomatic strat, I like t
