*** More evenhandedness in determining how voters will react to stands on certain issues. In the 1st version, I felt the game was tilted to the right a little too far. Especially where it came to independent voters, who always seemed to go with the GOP on most relevant issues where that vote might be more split or left leaning than the game portrays. Also, the candidate selection seemed to be a little more favorable for the republican party. No JFK? RFK? FDR? More cand

I would add spend as many points on economics as possible when putting your race together, including getting the federalist party. This also means morale and pop growth bonuses (unless you are a super breeder, which is the ultimate pop growth bonus) Also put a higher priority on galactic resources than the AI does, you can get your unfair share if you do. On bigger maps, put out more survey ships. Stop colonizing before the AI and turn towards building up your inte

Looks like we went over the top before my score was totaled in and mine is just providing a little cushion between us and the HCH. Congratulations to all!

900900 score for the empire! I don't think I could quite make it to a million...I was down to 25K a year the last year. This should put us back at #1 in the official meta. We have really had quite a few of us posting over the last couple of weeks! It was good to see us go from ~800K down, all the way back to #1. I hope we can keep it there. Now for the altmeta #1... Once all the updating occurs, this should also make my character #1 for: Official Meta Alt M

My current game will be 700K+ without a starbase array. I bet in late game (long after you could have won the game) you are pumping out huge hulls with ultimate miniaturization, loaded with nothing but black hole eruptors solely to boost your military score. I don't find milking an already won game solely for a higher score to be fun. In my 2nd DA 1.6 suicide game(I resigned in the first which never happened in

For example the silly military starbase array technique solely designed to boost scores. There is no skill involved in it, and its a little obvious the player has used it when the score leaps into high hundreds of thousands, so really there is little point in using it. Not necessarily true. I have only built out a full military starbase array in one game...And I couldn't post that game due to a serial number issue. My current game will be 700K+ without

I think part of the problem here is that the units are representative. A spear man is an entire unit, not one guy. I will even buy that under certain circumstances a spear man unit might successfully take out a far superior ground unit....Key word there ground unit . The reference someone made above to Poland in WWII is a perfect example. Im sure the polish calvary managed to do some slight damage to some armored units before being completely wiped out. Nothing that couldn't be repair

An even worse parallel...I have lost undamaged Stealth Bombers and Battleships to Phlanax units. Given that they haven't been upgraded to a higher technology with some form of ranged weapon like musket men (who I still will not buy for stealth bombers...I want to see a flying unit of something that might remotely have AA) and even assuming an "elite" version of a Phlanax this is a completely ridiculous situation.

I also find scrolling the map out until it turns 2D to be a big help. It's much easier to spot ships in this view than in the normal view...It doesn't help much with them looking the same color as your ships though. The one thing I would suggest there is that you can change your color scheme when you first set up the game, so try to pick something that makes your empire look as unique as possible next time around...

You've hit my area of expertise. The IP thing wouldn't be a fair assumption. Most workplaces now use a single IP address for desktop users (PAT - Port Address Translation) and you could easily have hundreds or thousands of people using the same IP address for internet use. The registered locale is often wrong as well. Companies will commonly get a range assigned and reassign it to a lower pa

1. Drengin: 349075 2. Altarian: 278815 3. Iconians: 211450 4. Arcean: 188000 A commanding lead for the Drengin....That's why I always use a poking stick and not my finger! Keep them pouring in. Seeing the Drengin in the lead is a bit of a surprise. BTW I hate the surrendering thing too. I always turn that sucker off.

I was a bit surprised at the ban. I felt ES didn't behave very well when he first appeared on the forums and he certainly earned himself a warning or two, but I also felt he had modified and moderated his behavior over time. I don't know what the final incident was that caused him to get banned and I consequently can't judge it. His behavior had changed enough over time that I thought of him as a contributor not a detractor at the time of the ban... My two cents for the lit

It's more than just computer memory. I actually ran my last game completely into the ground. It took 30+ seconds to select a ship when backed out to the two dimensional view with most of the graphic options turned off (as low as 0.1 FPS). I was only using 1Gb of my available 3Gb real memory. I used to think it was the ship count, but I've done some checking and I'm sure it's not that (or at least not just that). My best guess right now is that I'm blowing out the video card memory somehow (

I still think one on fleet attacks may be advantageous in a number of common endgame situations, even if mutual destruction is possible . If I can send in a single overpowered attack ship and it takes out half or more of an enemy fleet that is a better return than what I will get sending in an entire fleet against another fleet...This is especially true on Suicidal where the AI can build better endgame ships than I can (due to difficulty bonuses). With the singleton attack, I can trade o

Updated: 1. Drengin: 216975 2. Iconians: 211450 3. Altarian: 209805 4. Arcean: 188000 With the flurry of Drengin activity the worm has turned. All the way from proto-dead to first place. The Arceans are now looking like the most likely to be voted out of the galaxy!
