I've never played a MP game of any TBS game. However, I have trouble understanding why it is/would be that expensive to implement MP into GC2. Of course, I have no experience coding MP so....... And the GC2 community is vibrant enough to prob be able to find someone to play GC2 with in MP. And I always hold out hope that I'll find a friend/relative that has my interest in 4X TBS games. <table cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgcolor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Qu

wouldn't econ starbases work just as well? because using influence bases would only get the races into trouble I use econ starbases myself -- guess the AI isn't as wimpy as I am. Actually don't we have to add modules in order to actually have an influence starbase have an influence effect? So unless they add influence modules, It shouldn'

1st off -- Homeworld now starts at 8B pop with 20% morale. Planetary buildings now have different build costs and capacities. Examples as of 1.3beta3X. Basic Factory 50 build cost still but Production capacity is now 6 -- was 7 Basic Farm 40 build cost & 3 food was 50 build cost and 4 food Market Center 30 build cost & +8%econ was 35 build cost & +10%econ NLC build cost upped to 500 from 300 Note: these values will probably be changed in ther final update1.3 but will

100% agree with OP. Also for the Civilization Manager Screen: a turn all focus off button would be nice a turn focus on for all planets would also be nice ( obviously a button for each of MP,SP,& RP) best would be some macros for production and focus that most players use a lot when they have 40+ planets. Such as a macro to build a troop transport ship then build a combat ship then repeat cycle( think most of us do that one a lot )

Other than the obvious overall strategy of to win the game, the beauty of GC2 is that there are lots of viable strategies that will work to win a game. As for bonus tiles: building a factory on a manufactoring bonus tile with a 100% bonus is like building 2 factories on that planet 300% bonus is like building 4 factories on that planet 700% bonus is like building 8 factories on that planet That is how much production capacity you get -- of course you have to pay for

I've never modded but have read a lot of the modding guide and learned how to read the XML files. From what I know it is easy and quick to mod both range and speed & their techs if you want to. The only negative is that modded games can not be posted on metaverse for their score. Good luck on your modding and when you finish getting the values tweaked, I wouldn't mind knowing what you come up with. Pretty sure that is exactly how the devs come up with the final val

Can anyone be more specific about this economic penalty? I've pretty much explained when it occurs and how to verify it. If I remember correctly in my last game, around 4-1-2228 with pops of around 10B-17B on my 44 planets; I had an income of around 22K with 10K expenses -- the income would get reduced to around 14K if my bank account we

because most SP games have been crap for a long time. Don't mistake lack of sales for lack of demand You hit that on the head. This is the 1st 4X TBS game since Alien Crossfire expansion for Alpha Centauri that I've liked ( And Korsun Pocket is the only other TBS that i've liked since AC but Korsun Pocket isn't a 4X TBS or in the same league as A

kblore, why buy the starport rather than just build it? I know it's an inexpensive building, but it's still costing you 80BC extra to buy rather than build, and it only takes 2 or 3 turns (slider depending) to build. Because I have SP% set to 0%, MP% set to manufacture a colony ship every 2 turns on my homeworld and the rest to research%. I like

Medium maps are only 5x5 sectors I believe that is pretty small -- smallest I've played is medium 8x8 and i usually only do 3 oponents on that small of a map. You can always choose abundant stars, planets and habitable planets to have more planets/civ. The smallest amount of planets/civ I would care for is 12. As far as the economy falling apart early on -- that is always a problem-- a couple of possible helps 1: population growth ability bonus pick at start of game (

Or how stated planet class doesn't agree with the number of buildable tiles half the time. That has been fixed in 1.3beta3x for conquered planets by neutrally aligned civs -- believe they also fixed it if you built the Orbital Terraformer. <TD c

Also, KBlore: where are you getting that? From what I've heard, it's going to be treated like a normal expansion From other posts by what I believe are Stardock employees. A post by a Stardock employee saying that we'll have 2 icons on our desktop -- 1 for original GC2 and 1 for DA expansion -- and both are playable without having to do anything,

Do you really think that you couldn't manage morale in this version without the VRC's if you had to or wanted to? Can definitely still get by without VRCs but prob better to use them now -- however I haven't crunched any numbers yet. Just trying to get a feel for how it is working now. Checked my civ morale bonus -- it is currently 149%

Been thinking about this a little more. Think it would be great if Stardock would let players submit their own Star name lists with descriptions. They could then add that list as a star names option whenever they do a game update. It would be a way for players to have their personal content added to the main game(not just a mod). And I would enjoy picking different type of star names and reading the descriptions while playing. Might even learn something.

There is an economic penalty if you have 20,000bc in your bank. Spend the extra bc to bring your bank account below 20K at the end of every turn. That's great to know. And would explain away some freaky econ things that have happened to me in the past. Real easy to verify too. Just check your tax income on the Domestic Policy screen b

s1genocide... who are you?? what makes you so important that a slightest whim of yours warrants a response for frogboy/draginol....???? I have posted plenty and never get a responce. I paid for my game just like you. I ask for things and get ignored on a regular basis. What makes you so special, and what qualifies your opinion as anything more then a god damned

So does that mean that multiple starbases can affect one planet, even if their spheres of influence (8 tiles) overlap? Further, that multiple starbases with trade enhancements can affect the same route if they overlap? More information on this would be appreciated. You can view the economic starbase effects on the "Details" page of your Plane

But then something changed, and I'm not sure whether it was me beginning to deploy Extraction Centers to get +56 out of the mines. Whatever the cause, my economy started showing huge dips down to about 20% of what I'd come to think of as "normal." So far, I've had a few of these downturns followed by a roughly equal stretch of time with revenues at "normal" levels.

I like Technologist party, max MP ability bonus, max Pop Growth ability bonus. In v1.2 Technologists get +20% research +1 sensor. Did this change in v1.3b3? In v1.2 the only party that gets any pop growth at all is Universalists and it's only 10%. Sorry if my post was confusing. Meant I pick Technologist party for my party.<b

13 Replies 5,291 Views

Can't answer that question as I haven't played v1.3b3 yet, but if you limit pop to the 19B level, the morale techs and wonders plus a morale resource or two to mine will be sufficient to keep your pop happy without ever bu

The only thing I've heard about Dark Avatar that I do not like is that We are not going to be able to choose wether we want to play original GC2 games or DA games. Hope I'm wromg about this. Usually in my experience with expansions, the player has the option of what type of game they want to play. Also, think I've heard that there won't be any more updates to the original GC2 after update 1.3. DA is definitely an expansion and very much looking forward to it a

Oh, sorry ... are the guys talking about getting a bonus to total spending -- like you could set spending slider to 115% -- very cool idea. However, the techs that a player gets thru conquest are the same as a big research boost. And it would certainly make it harder for me as I like to let the AI wear itself out taking out another AI civ while I get prepared to take him out. If he was able to up his spending to 115%, he wouldn't be as worn out. Oops - just gave Frogboy an idea
