I never liked Drengin that much; that super ability of theirs is more annoying than it is useful. I agree about the MCC. Though I usually play evil, prioritizing that was never a major consideration for me. Then again, scoring really high was never a priority, either.
Now the current President Mahmūd Ahmadinejād, was one of the student leaders involved in the taking of the embassy back in 1979. Most people do not recall this as it has not really been brought up all that much.
Look, do you think you could give us a reputable link or... something... for all these "facts" that you post? There is no proof that he was involved in the hostage situation. Even the CIA doesn't seem to think he was involved, and if there was ever an organization
I'm hoping that the next generation of Chinese people from my country will be able to articulately discuss international issues, in English, with as much skill as you do over there in the States.
Well, now you're insulting me. I'm Canadian, sir, not American :-) In fact, I have three Canadian friends who are teaching English in China right now. Most ESL teachers seem to go to South Korea these days--formerly, it was Japan--but China seems to be becoming a big one
mightygoobi, I shudder to think how articulate you are in your first and second languages, because that amazing post is far above what I expect from most people who speak English as a first language. Very interesting post. Thanks.
JustinSane, your post solidified what I have been considering about the MCC for a while. That this one individual structure is a deal-breaker for an expansion that you otherwise love everything else about, convinces me that the 100% econ bonus is just too good, and it needs to go. I love the MCC, and I play evil almost exclusively because of it and a few other things, but it obviously creates a terrible imbalance between the alignments. In the interest of game balance, I think it's time t
Ack, really? I will have to play more, I suppose. I have been playing a lot of games, in fact, but I've quit more often than I've finished, due to untenable positions. Also, a lot of those games have been Metaverse League ones, which are perhaps not the highest scoring w.r.t. the AltMeta. And now the TotA campaign, which I just finished, which also does not count toward AltMeta. I'll get working on a new metaverse game right now! Which race is the most fun to play in TotAm, wou
In the last mission of the campaign, the Iconians colonized two of the planets surrounding my star. This became a problem when I needed to blow that star up. So, I figured I would just buy the planets off them, which they readily agreed to. At the time I figured it was due to the rapidly declining value of the real estate ("You you have a *gasp* terror star parked outside? Sold!") but maybe it was the same issue described above.

I guess everyone will be switching from evil to neutral, then.
Mentioning John Boorman and Hakim Bey in the same post? You, sir, are getting a karma cookie. As for EA, when a company treats me like cattle, I go graze in other pastures.

The reason I ask is that there is a new building in TA called a Recruiting Centre which provid
Some good advice, Noctilucus, but I must take issue with this:
- Tech trading: sell xeno communications, universal translator and some other quite basic techs to all AI's, especially minors, for good cash.
The two techs you mention provide diplomatic bonuses. By selling those to your opponents, you are effectively ripping yourself off, as the prices they will be willing to pay for techs is determined by comparing your diplo score and theirs. You want your diplo s

Hmm, not sure. I haven't really been keeping track of the specifics... I was just wondering if things had changed, or if I was just going crazy. Looks like the former, thankfully. I've noticed that the AI seems to be saving up spies and then dumping them all in one turn, which is annoying, but also kind of neat, as it presents more of a challenge. I'm already finding that I need to start building spies early in the game to counter the eventual espionage attacks.
I really like #2. It would add a new dimension to planet development.
On the other hand, I'd bet there are enough coders on this board that in a concentrated effort, we could try to arrive at the same result, thus proving to Stardock how these cheats work. That, however, could get ourselves into trouble.
If you are doing this for the sole purpose of trying to determine how it was done, I don't see why Stardock would complain. You would be helping them fix the loophole (or whatever it is), right?
Ahmaddinejad has called for bringing about the end of the world , so yes he would launch, knowing the end result.
Citation please. For your information, he didn't even call for the destruction of Israel, which was essentially a misquote. You can read more about that here: [link]http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article14733.htm[/link] I find it rather odd that every time this is mentioned, what he is supposed to have said becomes even mor
In all the games I've played, I had this event happen only once. I was freaking out until I realized it only had 1 planet and no ships. I killed it that very turn and was disappointed to realize that was all it was.
Yes, as I mentioned in the original post, it can be quite easy to defeat them in the mid-late game, especially if they are nearby. When they show up in the early game, before you have the capability of invading them, however, it's not so easy. Really,
I've just played the first two scenarios of the new TA campaign; the AI's are behaving much differently with regard to espionage than they did in DA. The Korath in scenario 1 and the Yor in scenario 2 were both laying on the spies, despite struggling economically, which is unusal in itself -- perhaps explained by the increased AI in TA? -- but I also noticed that it was much more difficult for me to rid myself of their spies. Previously, as you all know, the cost of getting a spy d
Perhaps they found another loophole that doesn't trigger the cheat flag, like "advanced race config".
My take on this, there is plenty of oil it will never be depleted just cost more to get.
While this is true, you have to realize that there is a point where the cost of getting the oil surpasses the benefit of getting it. For example, if it costs me $100 to get to work, where I will earn $75, there's not much point even going in to work, is there? (Hmm, that doesn't sound so bad, actually...) Canadian tar-sands are an example of this. Lots of oil there, but no ea
Will the Objectivists be added as another evil race for us to play? I thought the role of greedy capitalist scum was already filled by the Korx.
Just a side note, but while alternative fuels might solve the need for gasoline, we utilize petroleum for much more than just gas. Lubricant, oil, lip balm and a dozen more I can't think up off-hand.
Industrial agriculture uses a LOT of oil, and not just for fueling tractors. Most fertilizer is petroleum-based, and without it, we wouldn't have anywhere near the capacity for growing the food we're used to eating. Also, for the question in the subject line, I'm sor
