Makara just submitted a 77350 score, moving us to 10th place here and 4th in the alt-meta! Nice one, Makara! Anyone can join! (obviously, or I wouldn't be here) Technically, the empire is supposed to be for older players (35+), but I would be okay with mature 30 year olds, heh. No Torians, though! You let one in and pretty soon there's 18 billion of them. We have to draw the line somewhere!

ElWhop0, Brogan and Krankher -- I see that you managed to submit some nice games this weekend -- huzzah! Brogan, what are the stats on your Viking Confederation, if you don't mind me asking? My custom race, The Rich Rabbits, are Super Breeder, Speed +2 and a mix of Economics/Morale (can't recall the numbers). Not a very creative name, mind you, but it suits them. They also seem to do quite well when they're my opponents, which is both good and bad. Would be nice to get us a few

notice a theme for this gap? Mmm, I also noticed that. Check out Lois McMaster Bujold. She's won three Hugos for science fiction novels (and one for her fantasy). I think she's one of the better writers out there. Connie Willis is quite good, too. Two Hugos, both for time travel, a genre I normally dislike. Her Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog have more in common with P.G. Wodehouse than Back to the Future</i

You know it's odd... I've been a big fan of both science fiction and boardgames for most of my life, and I have never heard of Starfire outside of these forums. I'll have to try and dig up a copy. My problem with most fantasy literature produced these days is that it is so derivative of Tolkien. Nothing wrong with Tolkien, of course -- he's a great writer -- but there's really no reason that I can see why every new fantasy book has to feature dwarves, elves, dragons

Depends on how you define a "classic", I guess. For me, at least, GalCiv2 is better than MOO2, which most people here would rightly agree is a classic game. Whether it can be improved or not is another question entirely.

I'm a big fan of Lois McMaster Bujold's science fiction. I can't be the only one. Actually, just started reading her fantasy as well, though I'm not usually a big fantasy person. Pretty good, I must say.

No-one is exempt from the law Actually, they might be... Stardock produced the game, but might not have anything to do with distributing it to retailers, etc. The retailer could break the law without Stardock's complicity or even knowledge. Of course, that is assuming that a law was even broken, which seems unlikely in this case.

Huh, that sucks -- 20k is a respectable score, too! Might want to post your problem in its own thread so one of the Stardock people will see it; not sure if they'll notice it here.

I've never found a lucky ranger. It might be that one of the other races is always slightly luckier than you? Still, that does seem odd, I agree. I had a game a few days ago where I found about ten different Lucky Rangers; a new one was found every ten turns or so. Something fishy was going on. I looked in my driveway but, alas, no Lucky Ferrari. Lucky Rangers are not fantastic ships, sadly. Much like the default ships, they're rather p

Actually, I've found this discussion to be remarkably calm and friendly. I'll admit that I have found some people's logic to be a bit shaky, but that's to be expected given the inherent nature of discussing belief vs. knowledge.

@ ghostwes that story almost had me converted to Atheism of all things lol. If only it hadn't had a god in it I might have bit the forbidden fruit. Haha, I didn't post that in an attempt to convert anyone -- it's just a very cool story, in my opinion. Makes one think. You know, when most people talk about "intelligent design", I tend to sigh, shake my head and stop listening. But that story almost makes me consider it as a possibility, albeit no

ghostwes Your comments reminded me of somthing that happened to me a while back.... I was watching the news one day and the repoter was detailing some bad things that had happened to this family. As he reported the details a thought suddenly struck me like a flash of light,,, "their Christians". As the story continued, sure enough, it turned out they were Christians, and i knew it because of the bad things that happened to them.... scary eh?

I saw the report on the news about that new creation musium in America. And they were saying how offended the general scientific comunity was by it. Offended? Most people I know found that hilarious. There was a study that was done that people that were prayed for, fared better in an illness. That is incorrect. In fact, the study proved <i
