Hey all, In the interests of being a well rounded player, ive stopped honing my skill on the drath and started to play the other races. Ive been doing masochistic to keep the game easily winnable. Ill keep you updated on my progress to illustrate the differences between the races, and to get comments on what I did wrong, what I could have done better etc. Yor My first match was as the yor. After reading the

ok, so i improved my colony rush phase by leaps and bounds...by using the no build strategy. Now Masochistic is a joke. The next level Im better matched, though Im smoking it bad now too. Once i get the diplo up, i have everyone declare war, start collecting 3k/turn from war profiteering, trade away my research and econ treaties to the two most powerful civs on themap for their pwn techs...and then proceed to kill everyone.

The way I understand it..I can make a governor build order, and then assign it to planets i conquer. However lets say i make a few different governors, labeled production, econ, and research...well when I conquer a civ, they have a whole gamut of buildings, they arent starting from scratch. IE i cant use my governor because id be building multiple morale buildings and farms, when i wouldnt want that because my original build order would only call for one morale building, one farm.

Let me start by saying I play on the level before suicidal. However, I only play the drath so its hard for me to compare. Once I meet the other races and get them to war with eachother, my income jumps from 200bc to 3k bc. This more often than not wins the game for me, as my economic might then proceeds to militarily crush my enemies. without war profiteering my income wouldnt pass the 1k mark. I dont know

Im surprised my view hasnt come up yet. (i consistently beat the level before suicidal). I take a gander at their planets. If 2-3 fleets of mine working in tandem (attack once, disband and remove injured ships, recreate. rinse, repeat) will beat their typical defenses, AND i have a decent transport train going, then i attack. The trick here is attrition...you have to avoid it. The idea is to make certain you are taking minimum losses, so it becom

i was lovingly looking over my metaverse scorecard, and realize i get a MUCH lower score per game than most. (im getting 15-20k compared to your 300k+) I play on obscene (the difficulty right before suicidal) max opponents, max minors, everything abundant but extreme worlds. is my low scoring because of the large playfield? Do i have to jump up to Huge or gigantic?

Community, Im a pretty solid masochistic player. I play large galaxy, drath, max opponents, abundant everything...my typical strat is to colony rush about 5 planets. By that time Im bumping into everyone else. Then I rush transports and take over my closest neighbors to flesh out the rest of my starting empire (after the colo rush, i have 5 to everyone elses 15-20 planets.) I have to do teh transport rush or my empire is simply too small otherwise. &nb

I play as the drath on maso, large galaxy, abundant everything. TA ive read that its imperative to have your main colony pumping out a colony ship every turn, or every other turn. But how do you? I rush build a factory, primp everything full military and i still take 6-8 turns. If i rushed built more factories id get a one turn gain, but lose 400 bc which i need to weather the economic drag of the beginning game. Ive been winni

kumari, what difficulty level are you playing on? From my experience that would never work on anything maso or above. For one you simply cannot outresearch the AI, and another making your small worlds econ levels is just insanity. I mean if youre going to play on the low levels and use your strat, try making a few big worlds your econ and youll see a huge difference. Then make those small worlds pure production. Now If Im completely off and youre playing suicidal then school me bec

Evil Stormbringer, Just won another game on obscene (the one before suicidal). Ok, for one thing my transportation rush only worked on a minor race this time. Everyone got ships up and running so damn fast on this level. But anyways, on the more normal levels you dont really need to defend your starbases. Remember. the transport rush relies on the fact that no one has military ships in the sky yet. One they do, you park your transports, use your diplomacy to get ship techs, a

Hey yall. Just won my first post masochistic game (dont remember what its called, crippling maybe). The one right before suicidal. Anyways, after having all my questions answered here, Ill give back to the community and write up whats worked for me and what hasnt. Thanks to everyone who wrote these tips in the first place. You rock. First things first, I stopped playing humans and went with the drath. Lots of economy and diplomacy just make the game so much easier. The be

I made the jump, and Id like to share the little things I changed to make the jump. - stop playing the humans, other races get better bonuses ie. the drath - transport rush! you get transports first, then rush a few opponents. If youre lucky you can take over a minor race. voila, 3 capital planets. Everyone else feel free to leave their own bit of knowledge Ah, and what everyone said about making your way up the diplo tree and then trading for combat tech

I usually upgrade ALL my ships at one time. Once I get a far superior ship design I just upgrade away. My question is this. When it gives me the price for the 30+ ships im upgrading, it says some huge number like 18000. Once I click upgrade all, i only lose maybe 2000. Whats up with this? Im certain Im pushing the first option which means I dont have a payment.
