I don't wanna play MP. I can beat the AI. I'd get my butt handed to me by you hotshots. You know that's not necessarily true. Also, how can you improve if you never get beat?

Just keep staring at her chest, eyes WIDE open and avery minute or so say, "NICE!". Works every time. Great advice, even if it is sexist.

I don't waste my ships (or my money maintaining so many ships) defending my planets I don't waste ships defending my planets. I also don't use planetary defense or OFM. I do get the max soldiering bonus and Tir-Quan training. I also keep my pop up to make it more difficult for an opponent to take my planets, but I find it a waste of time to try defend

This is what I do, but to extend any further? Nah...I just have not got the patience, game playing time to do this...even if it means missing out on 100,000+ metaverse points... The thing is it doesn't miss out on 100K points (I've checked this out) it's usually closer to 10K points per year, why even bother?

I typically disable all victory conditions except alliance (and conquest of course). I like to have the alliance victory condition enabled so that if I get bored with the game I have the chance of ending it early, but I have yet to use it. For non-Metaverse games whatever you want to do that's fun from your perspective is fine. I agree with Mystic though and find that it usually just gets boring. For Metaverse games, milking the score by extending the game is a bit cheesy (as well as bo

I bet if you do a couple of runs you can probably see a difference easily if there is one, but if you post the numbers I can do a statistical test easily. Yeah. It's been so long for me that I wouldn't know a standard deviation from a hole in the ground, but I had the feeling that Polarpawn was doing way more than necessary by trying for 100 samples.

boy, if this game had multiplayer, you guys would just die against me. theres something to be said about covering your @ss... and covering both cheeks seperately, doubling your chances. We will get multiplayer (eventually) and this is precisely what it would be good for, challenge matches. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Laugh.g

There's a quote attributed to Mark Twain that applies to this situation. Between the two of us, we must know everything there is to know. You seem to know everything there is to know except that you're an a**h***, and I sir, know that.

Yeah, I don't build them, and also, when I conquer a world that has an Orbital Fleet Manager, I upgrade it to something useful, rather than waste the space. A newly captured planet with an OFM is a useful place to park damaged ships for a few turns while they repair themselves. I never build one myself and sooner or later I'll upgrade the OFM to some

No clue why the save/load was necessary, but the Xeno Farm was changed from feeding 6B to 5B in v1.3b3, apparently the text wasn't updated to reflect this.

I've had this situation and I'm sure many others have had it as well. The gripe I have is that if you did the same to an AI they would declare war on you pretty quickly. In this situation I do try to make the offending AI my next target, but often the game doesn't cooperate. It would be nice if there was some diplomatic thing you could do to encourage the AI to move the transports short of going to war. I haven't tried this myself, but one useful thing would be to buy these specific tra

I know I'm going to take flak for this, but to be honest, I think online multiplayer for this game would be really boring. Then don't play it, no one will be forcing you. I agree with pretty much all that's been said. It's a long game. There may be compromises made in the single player game to support multiplayer. The developers have better t

My mom came for a visit on Friday and just left today. That was a very long 4 days being unable to play GCII. Anyway, I can finally get back to the game. I'd say back to killing toasters except that I'm playing the Drengin, so of course I'm evil which makes the Yor my best friends. That just means that I save them for last.

PS - off topic, but how does one get the little icons at the end of their message? You go into My Account and select My Characters and the press the blue Default button on the character whose medals you want displayed. You obviously have to be logged in, but for some reason you also have to be at the GalCiv2 home page to do this. If you're in

Thanks. That's about what I figured it covered, any tile partly inside the circle gets the effect, nice to have it confirmed Yep. That's it. If only the constructor influence area was the correct size (and you could see it) then you wouldn't need the picture. But back to the OP's original problem. I've never had much difficulty seeing the c

Each ship will fight solo against the same ship or fleet 10 times. I won't know for sure until I have 100 fights a piece with the ships against the SAME opponents. Is it a luck roll? Is it a plus to the basic min. damage the ship can inflict/deflect? Or are the results I'm seeing random? If they are random both scores SHOULD be close to the same within 100 fights. (I think

Sounds like the pathfinding function is timing out (you'll probably see a message to that effect if you look at your debug.err). IIRC we adjusted it so it worked better at long-range in 1.31, but apparently it wasn't enough. I got this a lot in v1.2, I haven't yet seen this in v1.3 but it's still early in my first v1.3 game. Fixing this iss

I think it's based on your racial color so picking a different color should help. However, your suggestion is not a unreasonable one. I'm not sure you know so I'll just mention it, the effective area displayed by the constructor is not quite the actual influence area of the starbase. I think the constructor's radius is smaller than the starbases's by one parsec. Also it's not totally clear which square parsec's are covered by the round influence area. I once mapped out the starbases inf

Subspace Annihilator has nothing to do with any game freeze. It wasn't in the game in v1.2 and I don't think it's been added in v1.31 but I haven't got to that level in my first v1.31 game yet. Subspace Annihilator is just padding to require a bit more research to get to Doom Ray.
