I took my time, eh? Anyway, beats me, sorry to say - there is no obvious reason why Winstep would interfere with Dreamscapes, and nobody ever complained about this either. My guess is that it's something system specific, perhaps even completely unrelated to Dreamscapes/Winstep?

Microsoft removed the code that allows 'blur behind' in glass windows. The API call itself is still there and available, but it doesn't work.
