I'd rather this be linked to weapon systems, not hull size. Weapons ranging from low damage/high accuracy to high damage/low accuracy with several steps in between. A huge hull outfitted with high accuracy weapons can swat tinies like flies, but can't scratch another huge hull. Or outfit it with high damage weapons that can't target smaller ships very well. My analogy: a flyswatter is great against flies, worthless against a mailbox. A sledgehammer can wreck a mailbox, but have you eve
I would like to see a new feature, where you can take command of a ship in a battle, from the bridge.. and fight it out 3D style, like bridge commander, that would be amazing..
Well its not exactly a flight sim/shooter game so I don't see a reason for this even though it would be absolutly amazing. Although IDK if they have a game engine for that sort of thing so if they do put it i

ok just a couple ideas on combat... Make ships have accuracy relative to the size of ships they are shooting... somewhat in the manner of... if a dreadnuaght (huge) is facing a squadron of fighters (small) he would have very little accuracy against them while the fighters would have high accuracy against the dreadnuaght. If a frigate is facing a frigate they would both have equal accuracy. Accuracy: not a hit or miss % chance thing... but more like high accuracy = high

I would like to *also* see civs use alliances better. Mostly using strategic alliances, like if there are 5 races on the map and two are big while the other 3 are small/moderate... the three could ally up to gain protection from the big civs... And possibly making this an option for the player in the diplomacy screen under treaties... "strategic alliance against..." [pick civ] sorta like WWII. EDIT: Oops forgot to mention. Make pirates mor

maybe make small ships get a speed bonus so they are more like hit and run attackers on defensless targets (when they reach the point where big ships outclass them every other way). Since they are smaller after all and require less space to be folded to move them... [e digicons];P[/e] And as a plus if you want to make them a more weaponized starfighter then fast... you don't need to use as much room on Engines and can pump up the guns on that sucker. (Idea end)

ok I see it now. thanks bud. EDIT: oh wait. another question, sorry. I bought the ultimate edition and I thought I had thrown away the serial number then later (after I had already installed the game) I found it on the back of the manual. However I haven't been able to find a way to put the serial number in and the applications SDActivate don't seem to be working... I don't have to reinstall it do I?

I would like to see civilian transit. Cuz for some reason I don't believe I can get tourism income when I don't really see any way for civilians to travel to my planets... (unless its invisible and self-managed). I'm pretty sure they don't hop on down to GMC and buy an intersteller space faring vessel with 6 cupholders, plenty of trunk space and stow-and-go-seating so they can go on vacation. I would imagine that civilian transportation would work in a much similar fasi

So I've tried a couple different directories and the mods still won't show up in the options menu. C:/Program Files/Stardock Games/Galactic Civilizations: Ultimate Edition/Twilight/Mods/[my mod] C:/Program Files/Stardock Games/Galactic Civilizations: Ultimate Edition/Mods/[my mod] neither one will show up... help? (v2.02 I think)

So I'm looking at the galaxy map and looking at my tourism income and wondering... how do the civies get around? Surely they don't hop down over to the nearest GMC dealership and buy a shiny new family sized, 6 cupholder, intersteller spacecraft with stow-and-go-seating and plenty of trunk space. I would think they'd travel in a much similar fasion to airports today. And have big 500000 passenger jumbo-space-jets (JSJ) that take care of traveling between planets. (Altho

I just wish I could get into my old galciv2 gaming mood... I used to love this game... now... it's just... not as fun as... it was... :SURPRISED: maybe if I get Dark Avatar for christmas I can start my love for this game all over... anyway... I'll still try to get a game in now and then... the MVL is taking up alot of my galciv2 time and I've been working on my second starbase module patch. I'm pretty sure I'll just go ahead and start a large galaxy game when I can...

I was thinking while reading the post on interplanetary missiles... And I thought... what if you could bomb a planet before invasion to make it a little easier? And I thought... why am I sitting here? I better get started on a post about it! So I was thinking that you could build ships with special modules that give them the ability to approach an undefended planet and attack it without actually taking the planet. When you reach the planet something similar to the pl
Rather than having to micro-manage every possible move/location, you could simply select a destination (Star) within a 3D Galaxy. This may seem a little restrictive, in terms of application to GalCiv in that space, would becomes only a means to travel from destination A, to destination B. But, would this be such a bad idea?
plus if you add rally points (which I rarely use anyway) you can add extra destinations and further make it easier on the player and his/her

now to the real conversation... our friend goldie Zlac was basically saying that there are too many squares/cubes/parsecs and that humans can only see two demensions at a time on a computer screen. My analogy is... how the heck did they make 3D chess but can't make this?!?!?! but seriously... as with the rubix cube, the solution will be to let the player see the galaxy from every side, or maybe even from the inside. Think, in one view, you can set the (X,Y) position th
