[quote who="Tridus" reply="32" id="2646843"] Quoting TarponCrest, reply 31 why not just make it so that in multiplayer(or both single as well) there is an option to play the game as RT or TB tactical battles. This way insane players like me that like to take "days" on one move can do TB and for those that have limited time and want to do fast battles in multiplayer have a RT battle with all its chaos and glory of fun. Things like counterspells in c

Now we're getting somewhere. Yes it is a personal matter of taste, the question is how much abstract you want the battle experience to be. TW is hardly like realistically commanding a battle, it is simplified so that
[quote who="Gorstagg" reply="20" id="2646454"] Quoting Wintersong, reply 19 So much talk about multiplayer and I still haven't seen Frogboy say that he is ready to sacrifice single player experience for multiplayer one. That said, I'd expect him to stick to the "If you do multiplayer in your game, you do it well or don't bother at all.". I'm gonna have to agree with Wintersong here. Brad is definitely the guy who does it right, or doesn'

I'm not a huge fan of turn- and tile-based combat due to its chess-like nature. I may be missing something, but can anyone point out the advantages over the TW model, where you can pause at any time and give orders ? As far as I understand
Title says it all. Answer won't affect my playing the game but those who've played a TW game (for example) on 3D Vision will know what an absolutely kick-ass experience it is.
If the main issue is "what happens in MP" then I see the argument for WEGO. Even that, however, could be addressed by having a timer on the "pause" function in MP (eg. you can only pause for X seconds, every X seconds). Perhaps that's too hard to code though, I don't know. Just seems to me that MP in the TW games works just fine. In fact, it's arguably the best MP battle simulator out there. Having said that, my main concern is really the tile system. Everything I've seen about t

I have to agree with edpfister. F3 was a better-looking game, not really a better game than F1 & 2.

Hi all, This is my first post on the forums. I just pre-ordered the game based on my experience with GC2 an SoSE, in addition to the serious efforts the devs put in involving the community with the game's development. Stardock doesn't get anywhere near the recognition it deserves, IMHO. In many ways, they're the gold standard of the industry. On to my question. I just read the "Elemental for Dummies" thread and was wondering if tactical combat is still expected to be as d
ya, sorry, I meant the build icons just disappear. You're right, it was a little confusing. What I mean is that the factory just becomes useless as I can't build anything with it. Rather frustrating, actually.
Hi guys, This has happened in a couple of games. For reasons that escape me, a frigate factory or two will no longer show frigate and cruiser icons available for building. I don't mean the icons are grayed out, I mean they're gone entirely. Anyone know why that is ? I can't find an answer in the manual. regards,
Thanks for the replies, gents. Ya, I agree, there should really be a Start menu shortcut... Shouldn't have to hunt through files for something so important.
Howdy, Great game so far ! I live in Europe and bought the download from Stardock but can't find the manual. I've figured out a good chunk of the gameplay but there are a lot of details and subtleties that escape me. Anyone know where I can download the manual ? thanks, gap
