I pretty much like the current system. I guess the only thing I would like to see improved is the graphics and some more options. Like having both a ring planet and a moon, with more than 1 moon. Also have a diagonal ring for gas giants. And the shadow, to come out from a different direction and make it look more realistic. I would also like to add the Ctrl-Shift-U option enabled as not a cheat and as a Interface option. (This combination allows you to change the camera view to rotate 360 deg

Awesome!
Woah, wait guys to where have you taken this? He was simply asking if wormholes in the game can stay for the whole game. CapnWiky, the answer is no, they can't stay the whole game, maybe an option to disable them or enable them forever will be in later versions of GalCiv2 or even GalCiv3. Now for the rest, the game's wormholes are all but realistic, they are simply there to create a symbol to represent a force sucking you in and pushing you out in a different location on the m
He probably means the black hole anomaly when the ship is teleported into a different quadrant in the game.
Nice image Zyx I see you managed to utilize the new command! :) Yep, this is indeed a problem. Since I don't play in the Metaverse this makes small importance to me, but in light of this it would be very cool if an option in the interface would allow camera to be free. In the non-cheat mode game of course. This may be something the devs want to work on in the next patches.
As soon as I posted here I ran to Twilight of the Arnor and did my research. The results are quite simple, although I didn't find it anywhere, not even on the GalCiv wiki. The answer is: Ctrl+Shift+U = Free Camera I hope it helps the people out there and get another game experience. Sorry for being stupid if this is already known... oh and Remember - A different perspective on life can change everything :P Example
Don't worry Zyx, I'll do some research and get back to you Asap. Can't let this amazing thing go away. Knowing I saw it and knowing it is there keeps me playing even when I'm really busy. ;)
One day I was playing Twilight of the Arnor with cheats enabled, when after pressing a combination of "Ctrl-something" keys, the Camera was free for me to rotate in any direction, up and down and sideways and what not. I was wondering if this is a new feature and what is the exact combination to unlock it. I started a new game shortly afterwards and was stuck with the simple Camera view where I can only view planets from above and rotate 180 degrees. (Means that when the Camera was free I cou
I have a couple of C&C3 Tiberium Wars Wallpapers, all on which there are no logos at all, just the name of the artist in white in the bottom left. Personally I think that big logos are not good for the images, and should be in the side of the image. On another note, there are logos which does not represent the game, but the one who created the image, or who has a copyright on it. So you in your computer won't run around saying "I made this image". If there is a theme you like, say
I don't think so, although I may be wrong. I remember being able to modify the ability bonuses of the Metaverse and still get a legit game. I think with the system of today it would get a cheat flag, as the original XML of the game has been tempered with.
After playing Galactic Civilisations for about 3 years and a half now, I got used to the soundtrack and music and I actually remember everything quite well. A few months ago I bought Red Alert 3 - one of my favourite games and I could not but notice that some parts sound *exactly* the same as some parts in Galactic Civ2. For example, in Red Alert 3 when you finish a game with the allies in the Skirmish mode, the music played while you view the Game Statistics sounds exactly the same a
Hey Kryo, Uploaded another mod, the SRPA Logo. Thanks.
Mine just represents the nickname in some cool-ish evil way... Nothing special, nice trick however Soul. :P
Fox3, calm down... I don't see the problem I can log in to I-Mod just fine. Why not e-mail Stefan in private and work together on the problem? Could be your browser.
Go to your game's Data > English folder and search for the TechTree.xml In that file you'll find many different technologies, use the Ctrl-F tion to find the tech you wish to remove and simply delete it. Note that removing a tech might have a huge effect on the game. Techs such as the Universal Translator are vital to the rest of the game, while others may be less important. Each tech is there for a reason, some unlock Improvements and some give you bonuses that otherwise you would
Why do people want Karma anyway? Maybe the fact he has "so much" just makes people give him more? But what difference does it really make? I'm not in favor of the Karma system anyway, it just makes people want to get more and more and do stupid things sometimes. On the other hand it may drive people to actually help, if they want some Karma badly. You shouldn't care how much Karma does one Annatar has, and how much he deserves it no matter how "good soul" he is. If you really want som
Mod the colour of the fog of war? I don't think that's possible. All those things, Fog of War, 5 planet limit, having both moon and ring are all hard coded, I don't usually mess around with those stuff. Leave those for Stardock to handle ;)
It doesn't? I just made my own test improvement and everything worked fine using the Twilight Editor. You must have done something wrong, check that everything is correct in the actual XML.
Actually it's pretty easy. All you have to have is Twilight of the Arnor. Launch the... Launcher and select Editors > Improvements. Now name your Improvement ID, and save it. Now you can do all of your modifications to the improvement such as description, images, etc. But under the Bonuses tab, you have 3 options. You are looking for Bonus to Planet, and Bonus to Civ. Under Planet type 7& in the Economic Ability, and under Civ type 1% Economic ability. Here you go, hope
For me Best PC game of the Year is well... I'm sorry but not Sins of a Solar Empire. Sins can go easily into best Strategy along with Twilight but the Best PC game of the year is definitely Fallout 3. It has incredible freedom and a really fun story and game-play, and everyone is curious to see how it's like in the Capital Wasteland. I did vote Sins for best Strategy and Twilight for best Expansion. All the games there are awesome nevertheless.
There are other solutions to this problem. For example, if you want to start a game - even in a Gigantic galaxy, without the Fog of War, all you have to do is mod a new Tech that would be available right in the start of the game. Now just set the sensor range ability of that Tech to... Well... Astronomical sizes and there you go, the galaxy is revealed.
It is located in these places for the various games: -GalCiv2: Dread Lords = Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\English -GalCiv2: Dark Avatar = Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Data\English -GalCiv2: Twilight of the Arnor = Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\English Inside the English folder you'll find many XMLs, and the FlavorText.xml is one of them. Hope I was able to help. Now modding the XML FlavorText is a whole different s
You said it yourself, inside the FlavorText.xml are all the things that the various races say. The first colonisation, invading a planet, etc.
Actually if you use the Google Toolbar spellcheck, it marks the mistakes with red, which when you disable the spellcheck in order to post, they remain and appear in the post. Very annoying... Example: <span id="gtbmisp_0" style="border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; font-family: serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; font-size: 100%; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-st
