No way it will rain three weeks in a row. #5 FTW.
Long range forecast looks good. Mark Martin eh? Kasey Kahne myself. Look for me high up in turn 3. I'll wave. lol

To get the high scores, it's more to do with map set up than save scumming. Conquering the map in year 0, early year 1, and score grinding for 3 or 4 years. The players scoring over 1 million points have a pretty tried and true strategy.

@SB. That puts it in a different light. Kinda like God/Gods/etc, just couldn't get it right. At the cost of billions of lives. I just wish God/Gods/etc were a little less cryptic. It would solve a lot problems if s/he would just come on down, shake our hands, and show us the project plan. lol Don't get me wrong. I liked the series. It was a satisfactory finish. Just, IMO, not a great one.

@BSG. I'm just glad I got an ending. So many serial dramss I've gotten into, in the past, have been cancelled prematurely. Firefly/Farscape/Jericho/Deadwood/Carnivale. I have a real track record going here. I thought the whole "higher entity" just screwing with them was a bit of a cop out. Baltar said It wasn't on anybody's side. So why did It want the humans and cylons to break the cycle? Why would It care? If there was a father/child relationship going on there, It sure wasn't a ver
For some real old school try Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series. His Pellucidar and Venus series' are both worthwhile mentions as well.
Funny you should mention this series. I just finished the 1st five. Princess through Chessmen. They're available online on Wikisource. Great old school stuff. Loved his prose. Rumour is Pixar will be making a live action/CGI movie based on these.

I liked the 1st hour. The 2nd, not so much. Big deus ex machina. Almost literally. I was expecting that though, as there was no other way to explain many of the mysteries. I'm still not sure how Baltar survived the nuke in the series pilot. I'm guessing God saved him. I'm happy the way it ended though. Throwing away the tech breaks the cycle. Well, maybe.

Might just try another ZYW. I'd did one during a MVL round, but haven't tried one since. I've been working on increasing my efficiency during during year 0. This last TA game I included Fertility Clinics, along with Recruiting Centers, in my planet build. They are really cheap and can be built over once population is nearing the cap. Both the RC and FC cost 204bc each, or are built quickly. This gives a 45% population growth. My last game, most of my planets were already maxed out, or

I did another all abundant, medium map. 1yr Military Conquest vs. 9 apponents, 8 minors. Got me +100K. A harder target might be 200K in 2yrs. I like these medium maps because I can complete them fairly quickly. Started an all abundant, immense map, but it DOES look like a large time commitment. I'll work at it off and on.

Finally got my 200k in 3yrs on a medium map. The metaverse doesn't want to except my password, though. Keeps saying the Metaverse server returned an unrecognized response??? Can't start a new game either. I'll try later, but is anyone else having problems?

Truth be told, I have 2 Australian Shepherds. A black tri-colour, and a blue merle. D'Argo and Rygil. My wife wants a cat. I figure, if it can last 5 minutes, it'll be the one we keep. I'll call it Scorpius.
Congrats to Ferrel Mewler on his latest conquest!
Still trying to beat 200K in 3 years on a medium map, and still chugging away towards 100 games.
Ferrel........Jesus, i did'nt know you were that old. Thanks for advising our young friend. i went to the wiki, it was a trip down memory lane.
Yup, I took my 1st computer course around '73, in high school. Had to input programs on punch cards. Then physically send them to the local college to execute. 1 day turn around time. God forbid if you had a syntax error. I have fond memories of SSI. P

Yes, yes. Thanks SS for all your support, and congrats everyone. I learned a lesson last night. If your going to gift a token planet (re-education center and 6 fertility clinics) to an AI, make sure you gift them the Fertility Acceleration tech, as well. If the AI doesn't have that tech, the fertility clinics disappear, and they can rebuild the planet to their liking.

I had extreme planets set to rare. I'll try a setting with frequent. Since I play all lab, it won't make much difference to me. Normally I get lots of respawns on medium maps. I don't know why I didn't this time.

Didn't break 200K. Just missed it by 1500. Funny thing though. I didn't get a single anomaly respawn, and didn't get a single random event. Even though I had random events set to frequent. Hmmmm?
