Topic: Why do I have so much metal resource? Topic: What are cruisers for? Topic: What is the significance of the different weapons? I have enjoyed the game thus far, though I can tell that the balancing and the like needs work. As indicated above, I have three questions. These are not necessarily criticisms or suggestions of corrections quite yet. Perhaps I am just playing the game weird or missed out on some important aspect of the game or strategy in it. Fi

Suggestion: Tactical combat that does not require too much attention Like others, I have also been looking for more rock-scissors paper in the combat part of the game. BUT!!! I am afraid that if you really have to give a lot of attention to how you move your ships around in combat to make sure you put the right ships against each other, then I think the game comabt will not be manageable either. More often than not, I find myself getting attacked in all different area
I think the few logistics slots available is a good thing. It forces you to actually expand and not just turtle at a few planets. If you could just load up on the research centers, and reseource acquiring upgrades on one planet then there is little point to making yourself vulverable by expanding. As the game stands right now, you can stock up on research centres at your home base (to a small degree), but it would mean that you did not spend the resources on ships to capture new areas and you pu
Hi, I encountered the exact same problem once again. I destroyed a civilization and some of its ships turned pirate; once I destroyed one of the pirate ships (or fleets) it remained on the screen even though I could fly through it. This time I saved the game, exited the program completely and then restarted the program and reloaded my game. The destroyed ship no longer appeared on the map. Thanks
i'd credit science as the set of tools that empower people to rid themselves of superstition. that doesn't make scientists "better" people in any sense, but they do contribute to history in a qualitatively unique way. Some good discussion here, but I wonder about this last point being a wee on the trivial side in that it is not unique to natural science. Don't all semi-critical disciplines develop tools that contribute to history in a qualitatively uniqu
Thanks for getting back to me. My Game version is (and was) 1.6. I recall that I was rather close to winning the game when the bug happened and therefore I did not reload the game at any point. If I remember correctly the ships that became pirates were originally part of a fleet (before they were pirates). I wish I could tell you more, but I have only been recently using the nifty forum here and did not think to carefuly record all the details at the time of the bug. As I mentioned it was a pret
I am always amazed at how both the theist and the atheist like to discuss religion and science as in competition to give the best explanation for our universe. People who hold that science should inform theology or that theology should inform science often make the same mistaken assumption. It is a peculiar claim to say that the universe is just composed of energy, strings, (or whatever the physics of the day talks about) and that therefore there is no soul etc. etc.. By the same reasoning, the
In regards to Themocaw's suggestion: How about just being able to set a starbase as a rally point? Then you can have a nearby planet set the base as a rally point. When the constructors arrive, it automatically goes to the upgrade screen, you choose your upgrade, move on. I think that it certainly has the advantage of simplicity, but part of the problem I find is that I don't want to have to continually deal with upgrade screens many turns afte
In regards to whether Star Control 2 was better than 3. I would definitely agree that 2 was way better. But the reason why I say that is not just because of the plot etc of the full games, but because of the actual melee combat itself. In starcon3 the ships were hugely unbalanced in terms of their point value and actual usefulness and the way the planet and gravity worked was horendous in comparison to Starcon 2. Also, did you ever fight a computer flying dak-tak-lak-tak (or whatever they were c
Hi, Great work on the game by the way. I love it. The bug I would like to report is minor and please accept my apologies if it has already been reported (I tried a few searches but didn't find it). Anyhow, after an evil race was destroyed all their ships became pirates, which is pretty cool. However, I found that after I destroyed some of these ships, they would still show up on the screen. I could drive right through them and they would not move or do anything, but it was a real annoyan
I agree that starbase building requires too much micro-managemant. One of the better suggestions was: Eliminate the micro-management of upgrading them. Use a 'fire and forget trade Route' system - i.e. you send one starbase constructor to it to establish the route, (it becomes a 'mini-constructor' like a freightor will on a regular trade route) then pay a small weekly fee to maintain the route, and a large one-time fee whenever you want to upgrade. You can mak
