pay to win?
pay to win i don't think would work in a strategy game the general concept in pay to win games usually rpgs is that you can buy equipment/items for your character with real cash that's better then anything anyone else could get who doesn't pay thus making you overpowered in comparison the only way i could see this happening in a strategy game is if they had custom races with better stats/te
A more fair option on ranbom events instead of favoring evil neutral good or evil options
I agree, nearly every moral choice in game favored evil races usually providing soldiering bonus's moral bonus's or cash while neutral choices tended to have a lesser buff and cash cost , and good choices tended to have no benefit but a massive cost I'm not saying they should all balance out but there should be some choices that benefit good aligned play
so i had 2 ideas for tech trees the first was convergent techs 1 tech that can have 2 or more requirements to be met before it becomes available example hydroponics bays on star-ships increase range of ship, and morale of troops on ship requires [ life support I ], [ farms I ] multiple arc-types of tech trees I envision 3. In Galciv II there is really 1 tech tree throughout the game with each race having its own flavor some races have racial techs, some don'

I hoped so much that the map would be 3D this time that I would have accepted both cube boxes or truncated octahedra. But it is once again 2D. This is not Civilization which is bound to a planet's surface. This is a game set in open space and therefore there is a third dimension. The Universe does not have 3 dimensions, nor does it have only 4, it has 10 or&

It is still a turn based strategy. If it comes down to who can click the fastest to get a particular goal, or making the difference between the loss of a fleet and a crippling blow to your enemy, then I consider that as a strategical mistake on your part
after re-reading the op i think i just wrote down some of what he did differently
what about splitting turns into phases 1) phase one- actual turn (all other players on phase 3) you move all your ships invade planets. no building ships choosing research or choosing improvements 2) phase 2 instant alerts ships built planetary improvements built research projects completed phase 3 (inactive) during this all other players are completing their phase 1/2</
If there are still going to be bonus tiles on planets, I have to say that it would be nice to be able to see them (and whether they have an appropriate improvement sited) without cycling through every single planet.
I hope they can get the tiles named uniformly this tile gives an approval bonus of X% yet the rest of the game calls it morale took me several play-throughs before I could determine if a
I had a list for starbases on the GCII forums some of the ideas included partial build ques- a constructor was necessary for Battle Stations I but BS II-V could be upgraded by the starbase taking a portion of nearby trade routes/planetary production value some form of ranged attack - what good was investing in an all powerful starbase if I just ignored it some form of barrier - if i go to war with a race my controlled starbases should be able to block ships of
while the concept of a 3d map is cool and ill admit I've thought about it from time to time i think it would be completely impractical in any form of UI and would probably need some kind of 3d interface like the occulus rift or holograms it might be able to work in the small scale such as a battle viewer or combat tactical map
so, stargates?
I was thinking something similar but with wormholes galciv II already has temporary wormholes i think having permanent wormholes would add a little something to the game
one of the biggest things i want out of the ship designer is an upgrade button that does not strip all useful parts off of a hull
Cant wait to hear more about Gal-Civ 3 I have a few ideas id like to throw out first of all some form of map wrap that could be turned on or off at the map options screen. funny I'm not really sure if i like this idea or not. Corners and edges give distinct tactical advantages and disadvantages, so nullifying this with a map wrap would change the flavor of the game. Second, Permanent wormholes. Third I found star bases really annoying to upgr
is there a way in the tech tree editor to make multiple required techs for one tech? i mean the tech trees atm are very linear you might get 2 or 3 techs that branch off of one tech but i want to set a few where you need to have 2 or even three techs before you can get a certain tech

im not sure if this is the right place but im trying to build a custom map what i want to do is make walls around all the major races starting positions with open ends towards the middle of the map. the idea being that all ships will then be forced to travel through the centre of the map before being able to enter another races controlled space however with the map editor ive come across too many barriers to complete my map so im wondering if theres a way i can add a cu

ok im creating my own basic map and ive hit 2 problems 1 is the fact that i cant put anything within 3 tiles of the edge and the second is that i can only place 500 asteroid fields im creating an immense map and using the fields to create walls is there a way i can overcome these issues or is there another object i can place that will prevent ship passage?
ok ive managed to get it to recognize that dark avatar and twilight are installed but it wont recognize that the base game is installed btw i had the gold edition so the game and darkavatar in one pack they would have both been installed
