1) you do mean this as a comprehensive change, i.e. the change affects all ships alike. I mean otherwise it just totally fucks up any sort of balance if we decide to boost hc's hitpoints and dmg by 100% without according changes to other ships. 2) what would you consider the deeper level of strategy in that change. sure, it would play a bit differently if ships were more or less easily destroyed, slower and what not. but if you set this as a value at the start of the

ah, so I was correct after all. as for the rest, kitkun said it, there is going to be more diplomacy in the second mini expansion pack. which I really look forward to, I hope they also tie in some governmental or religion/ belief thing to create more natural enemies. I do have a good many thoughts on the subject, but first lets see about entrenchment. oh, one last thing: remember, civilian structure also designates asteroid mines, which are somewhat easier to kill. and tbh the

I'm not sure I get you here. by task you probably mean the demands that other empires regularly transmit. in that case, it would really make fairly little sense for them to ask you to research something. something tied to exploration might be interesting though, like "show us your star charts" and then they see all you have explored so far complete with the latest intel. but really, the system is just designed to bring some sort of diplomacy into the game make it possible to forge all

under game options ( where you can also modify game speed, fleet sizes and pirate settings) you get to chose between locked and unlocked teams. if you pick the former, alliances as set at the start of the game will last until the end with no way of changing them in between. it seems to me that this is what you are looking for.

but 1.10!! anyways, in the order it lists them as fairly different things, artifacts are research objects and the others are planet boni, so you may be right that its not even doable. kinda sad, since I always wanted a few more things that affect the empire as a whole apart from research and the diplomacy scaffold and that could have helped a bit.
By "always on" I mean you can see it without exploring I don't think it's possible to do empire-wide bonuses, though.. the planet bonus modifiers don't mix with the research stuff. Only the research can be done empire-wide. Try Sins Plus, though. I'm pretty sure it works with 1.05, should be in the WinCustomize database
ah, but there are artifacts which are empire wide. theoretically, maybe it

what do you mean "always on"? well, it wasnt so much the randomness, as the fact that you didnt know what you would get via exploring. also, the resource thing meant to imply planetary bonuses that apply to the whole of your empire. at least for resources. sort of a weaker version of artifacts. tbh I cannot quite nail down what I even want, but I feel something is missing or incomplete by having the basic planet scheme first and then via exporation find it to be somehow special.

I was thinking of some more options to further differentiate planets from one another, bc on the long run it does seem to become repetitive to settle the 'almost' same planets over and over again. * special resources as seen in rise of nations. as such, they are not used to buy anything per se, but give boni to various aspect, like extra income for some resources, increased research speed or build time and what not. nothing huge, but just a little bit. </p

of course in the situation the op described, pirates may be of some use provided the enemy empires are so strong as to completely smash down a pirate attack anyway. the bounty could be used also to incite the other player to attack, thus creating a 2 on 1 situation for you. other than that: new diplomacy features will come! like like.
or listen to a song Funny story about that. There was a digital download store for music that will remain unnamed (*cough*Yahoo*cough*) that decided to close up shop. Funnily enough, this also meant that they would be taking the authentication servers down, and people who bought music from that store would no longer be able to listen to it afterwards. good, good. cheered at the news of sins reaching 500k. I wonder how well spore will do considering the chunk of fairly negative press, but probably there will be enough hype-blended ppl who bought it without even knowing about the drm crap. heh, I still wait for the media companies to limit the amount of times you can view a dvd or listen to a song.

well, making them stronger on higher levels is not such a good idea I'd say, they are already good value for money. after all, if the enemy concentrates so much firepower on so few ships, that leaves all the more for the rest of your fleet. true, high lvl capships cant be replaced readily, but with a bit of training and presence in one or two larger battles, the usually gain quite a bit. and after all, 100 frigates + fleets are a big investment, much larger than 1 or 2 capships, so by all mea

annatar pretty much said it all. both are very nice games, definately worth their money. it probably depends on your preference. if you are more used to rts, sins is probably a better choice, if you like slow games, where you can take a lot of time and really dig into a single game you might want to consider civ iv. also, setting is a point, as a sci fi fan you will love sins, whereas civilzation is geared more towards histarical settings and reshaping history in some ways. one thing you can

It is highly ikly that starbases will take tactical slots, maybe in the range of 18, like the superweapons. alright then, to work. assuming craigs response from before about the stormtrooper shooting blair after a lost game, we can assume that the black jacket wearing person in the 7th foto being shot by a stormtrooper is blair. other than him, I can find no other person wearing an IC shirt who is not on the same foto as blair. which obviously raises more questions: who are the other two ICs in pic one? who is the girl on pic 4? who are the stardock shirt wear
