I had a comparable problem long ago: my cursor stopped replaying graphically, but I could still move around and via the highlighted command fields see that the mouse was working. my problem was solved by updating my video card driver. seems you have sth different though. a system component description might help others track down your problem.
btw what happens when you have researched an artifact on a planet and it gets taken over by an enemy. it stays there, or does the enemy have to do the research too? You don't research artifacts anymore You explore to find them... and the enemy takes 'em if they take the planet.
Eh, part of the problem is that on some maps, you get lots of artifacts and bonuses (and I make resources available on those...) and others you don't. If bonuses were "standard" on more maps, more people would explore I think
yes, thats rooted in how the map is organised. there isnt a set chance to discov
well almost forgot that one, but since I have played a bit myself I can drop in a comment. in principle I would like them to be researched, or rather some of them, but - they are fairly balanced so far. balanced to the point that now capitalships is superior to another, only better suited to a specific situation. as such it would seem strange to make them available at different stages. - it limits choices: as capitalships are filling different functions they can become
well, so far only ron said he uses it regularly and then only when he has spare resources, so in short: exploring very low on the priority list, because fleet and research are so much more important. I think this is a pity since its an interesting feature on paper, but with all the insecurity of whether you get a bonus and when you get one, if its even worth the trouble (i.e. if you can make use of it) its not very attractive. there are surely many ways to tweak this, but first we shoul
I can now confirm that when you go to create your own galaxy you can select how you would like the players distributed. In our scenario maps you won't be able to select this.
what about random maps?
I dunno, I lost a game the other day when my opponent spammed carriers. it was his 29 lights and 4 capitals vs my 30+ (vasari) flaks and about 25 - 30 "combat" frigs and 3 capitals. lost all my caps, but at the rate they were losing health there was nothing I could have done about it save for total retreat. (a big part must have been my playin brain dead. I ignored his caps and thought I had to take out his carriers -> his caps creamed my ass)
the 1111122222 system atm causes problems with 4(1st team)+ 1(2team) on one side and on the other side 3(2nd team) when you do 4v4. Actually, it does that period by design decision -- if at all possible, the game will always put at least one opposing player in a given starting system. They wanted to "get the game going" as quickly as possible.
while a laudable effort, putting one player i
I've actually been trying to find out if the Pink Ponies are still alive. It isn't looking good for them so far. Unlike the Pink Ponies, the Galactic Empire has been carefully picking its membership. Every single member of our clan is likable, helpful and talented. It is far easier for us to stay motivated as a group because we fit well together. The Pink Ponies on the other hand have likely fragmented from having such a varied, chaotic membership.
I have had some problems with sound lately, it sounds like static/ inference. sometimes it gets better when I alt tab and go back in, restarting the game usually doesnt help. I have an older vaio laptop VGN S3XP, but I cannot quite find the type of sound card, it just doesn't show anything along the lines of sound card in the hardware manager. and on the sony driver dl page the only real updated drivers are for video card (which I needed to properly play sins) wlan and some other thing.

maybe you know it anyway, but just to have it mentioned: just now the ICO lobby was extremely laggy, msg were displayed with a few minutes' delay and I think it happened to the other lobby chatters as well. whatever you tested there was seriously messing up some stuff. didn't get to play a game, so I can't judge that performance, but para and a few other were in, maybe the noticed sth.
if you decide to play team games it shouldn't matter at all.
its 4 pm gmt, I want to get at least some stuff done before playing. sorry.
There is an artifact that allows you to jump to other stars from that planet. EXTREMELY useful...except I've only seen it in a game where there was one star lol... What? Since when? Are you thinking of the jump drive relic, which only allows interstellar travel in a manner just like the civic technology?
only had it once and it didn't enable IS jump from the planet. I wonder if it wou
is that still valid? well, in any case, I plan on being there.
Starcraft had primarily superficial differences, the tactical ones were still fairly unique, if partly ripped from warhammer, but getting your units from eggs and building creeps to alter the terrain and expand your base is largely superficial. Thanks to a complete lack of anything resembling realistic warfare, a small force is pointless, so a satellite base from the marines is just a weakly guarded free kill for the zerg, limitations in expansions are thus not really limitatio
shouldn't light frigs make toast of those lrm's if you manage to get in close enough, for example by jumping them at the gravwell border? hot sun idea does sound interesting though. concerning the tech tree: how big are "very large" games in your mindset? I mean you could make some of those weapons/ shields upgrades more or less infinite, but with an exponential increase, so that costs are just astronomical. that could give everybody at least some research even in the largest o
like I said, he mostly flooded missile frigs, I engaged with every color of the rainbow INCLUDING my own flooding of missile frigs, capital ships, the skirmishers, combined forces and the devastators nothing, worked. or rather: everything worked, but VERY innefficiently, even with a much more expansive economy I got wasted away very quickly. I had to rebuild my fleet from near scratch at least 4 times.
I know that *sigh*
phew, discussion on the lore again. well, I remember that in particular organisational reforms contributed to stopping the vasari advance. remember the TEC is not the same as the trader worlds at the beginning. when the vasari first arrived the humans there were factioned i.e. they had maybe a dozen different governments negotiating with each other and so on. politics. it takes a really desperate situatíon to get people to give up their immediate rights and controlls. finally though they realise
With the risk of comment hijacking, I too just jumped into the beta, especially after I've seen the video demo of it on Gamespot. I have to say that unlike "Steam", Stardock is a gem. Fast, easy, no bullshit, lots of independent developers. My impressions/wishlist from the game: - Battles are not exciting enough - sorry, but the ships are just standing there shooting at each other. The only thing a bit exciting is to follow bomber squads. Ships should sl
while basically an interesting thought, the challenge in multi star games is already where to station system feets. making more entry points will more likely than not splinter your forces even more, so I'm just not sure if that wouldn't be too wack-a-mole. but I'm open to discussion, I haven't come to any big multi star games, so its just a guess anyway.
cool. anyone interested in a multi star map with lots of small systems with awkward placements and forms? I have a few ideas on that front ...
