This may sound strange..... in WinCustomize Talk WinCustomize Forums

Allright now, I've been using computers for years now - started around 1981 messing around with a mainframe at school and shortly thereafter got myself one of those IBM clones that ran a GUI called GEM. Things have changed since the days of the 14.4 modem, paper tape readers, etc. I guess I'm trying to say that I've been around for some time. Having said all of that - could someone please tell me what "leet" and "1337" are? I have seen these terms over and over but never asked. Also tho

I had the same problem here with the newest beta. I had to download the prior beta which seems to work fine. With the newest one all that would happen is that my computer would switch to the old Windows2000 type logon. The logon screens would show up in the program but would not work properly. Perhaps the culprit is something specific to the newest beta.

I know that I don't comment enough! I am not proficient in skinning but have used "skinned" products for quite some time. I was hooked when I first saw Winamp and then it was beatnik, windowblinds, nextstart, etc. I've probably tried most skinnable apps. I use windowblinds more than any other and will make more of an effort to post comments. Thanks for letting me know that the comments mean something.

Are you sure? The reason I'm questioning this is because I load the sage wb theme on the work computer and voila all ie buttons are skinned. Not so on the home machine - just the mouseovers. It's IE5 at work and IE6 at home. Thanks in advance.

WB 3.1 IE Buttons in WinCustomize Talk WinCustomize Forums

I have several WinXP skins that don't seem to be properly skinning the buttons on IE6. For example - XP Cobalt by Alexandrie shows skinned IE buttons only on mouseover. It's the same with some others - I think the majority of the WinXP skins I have downloaded. Is this a known issue or am I just missing something?

ChrisNYC99, I disagree entirely with the "got ahead" part of your last comment. I can't see (and yes, I have tried StylesXP) how StylesXP is ahead of Windowblinds 3.x in any way, shape, or form. Have you actually tried the latest version of Windowblinds? I agree with Jafo. Although I have seen a few very good "original" themes for StylesXP, the vast majority appear to be "rips" of Windowblinds themes created by some great skinners.

I tried to give some input at the boards on Custo and was told to "shut the fu-k up and go away". This was by an admin of the site who justified it by stating that he could use whatever language he wanted, that it was part of that sites personality. What a crock of an excuse. Absolutely no idea of professional behavior over there. Actually, I didn't expect professional behavior from the admins, just some good old common-sense like "people skills". I'm glad to be involved in this site.

I have been to all of the "old" sites in the past and look forward to the return of DeskMod. I also welcome other "things" that may be in the works. I do, however, appreciate the hell out of this site. It has been extremely stable, reliable, diverse, and "welcoming". This is my "home" in the skinning community.

Are folks moving to the home or professional version? What's the difference? I'm running Windows 2000 Professional - I want to run XP (I think) but should I get the home upgrade for $99 or the professional for $199. There are some special deals.... Also, has anyone searched EBay for XP? There are lots of people selling links to a website(s) that supposedly lets you get software from MS for little or nothing? Too good to be true?

I'm using Alexandrie's "XP Jeans" for windowblinds and SamL's "WinXP Jeans" for DesktopX and it looks great. I've also used objectbar in the past with quite a few of the themes based on XP.
