I've played city building games for a long long time as well as economical simulations and have always accelled at playing them but with Gal Civ 2 (twilight or otherwise) it's just a constant adjustment of the taxes and other economic sliders to try to at least keep +1 coming in. Im sure I must be doing something wrong because I can't imagine any game that would cause me to constantly have to adjust taxes or my expenditures. Any clues?

I've put out a starbase (financial I believe) when I look at it on the screen, it says 2 modules available. What are these, and how do I build them? Thanks,
FIXED! I don't know why this fixed it but it did.... I plugged in the mouse that I normally use for my laptop which is a microsoft (USB) Notebook 3000 mouse (but didn't actually get around to trying to use it with the game) and then when I used the scroll wheel on my regular Microsoft Natural mouse it's smooth and fluent and doesn't need any excess scrolling to work. I then unplugged the laptops notebook usb mouse from my desktop and my regular mouse continues to work properly
Is there some sort of good rule of thumb on what to build on a planet? If there is a bonus tile and I have the possibility then I'll build the corresponding building on that tile, but the rest of the tiles Im left guessing on what to best build there. Help appreciated.
Even with the game setting to maximum zoom speed it's like it doesn't "catch" when trying to zoom in and out, this mouse is a smooth scroll wheel unlike my old mice that were knotch type of scroll wheels and I have to wonder if that is an issue with GalCiv2 and or TotA? It's really quite annoying to be honest to have to scroll the mouse wheel many many times very fast to get it to catch and start to zoom in or out, I'd sure like to see it zoom in and out smoothly with minimal scroll effort on m
Even if you have the normal desktop resolution and the game screen fills up the monitor, it still is 'windowed' - e.g. you can switch to other stuff on your second monitor without TA minimising.
Thanks, I've been running in SLI for so long now and that even though I don't think that TotA really benefits from it, I've never thought about turning it off (Nvidia problem) so that I could turn back on my 2nd LED monitor sitting next to my widescreen, however since you've b
I've tried to play Gal Civ over the years but it never interested me, however now that I have TotA Im quite interested in the game and enjoying learning to understand at least a little as to how it works. Todays Question: Every now and then I get a pop up message about some other race producing something that might be likened to a Galactic Wonder. How are they building these? Should I be concentrating on building any of them myself? Tha
The game has one major annoyance to me. The constant barrage of other races demanding that I give them tribute or take care of their dirty business. Even when my relations are 0% and I ignore them, they continue to ask me to do things for them or give them something or attack someone which is the worst. (sorry no paragraph, my enter key wont make a new line)... Anyway... I get quite annoyed that Im trying to make friends with so and so, and some other race then asks me to go and attack them
Hello, I downloaded all my object desktop items that I purchased last year before my subscription expired and used the auto archive button to archive them. I recently had to reinstall windows vista so there is a windows.old folder with the old program folder with some stardock folders in it, but I fail to find where my archived software is so that I can reinstall it. I'd hate to think that I spent $49.95 on object desktop for nothing. Please tell me where to find
Verticle scrolling is set to fast (fastest it will go). There is no option in the mouse settings to choose how many lines it scrolls per tick (actually it's tickless since it's a smooth scroll mouse wheel).
Hello, I can play the game all day long without a problem, with the exception of the following... I log in to metaverse then click the play button. On the next screen or at most the screen after that one, I am informed that my display driver has stopped responding and I am given the option to report it and close the game or just close the game. This only happens if I login to the metaverse part of the game first. If I play the twilight game without logging into metave
Good call, thanks. Once I reduced it to the next lowest widescreen resolution sure enough it started up in a window. My appreciation goes out to ya.
I change the option (uncheck it) to remove the checkmark next to play fullscreen, then restart the game but it loads up fullscreen again anyway. I this time checkmark the option and restart the game and it's in fullscreen again, rinse and repeat. How do I get these GalCiv games to play in a window?
Hello, I have a Microsoft Natural wireless Laser 6000 mouse that so far (fingers crossed) has not experienced this problem with any of my other games. I just bought the dark avatar and twilight digital bundle pack tonight and Im attempting to play twilight. When I wish to zoom into the planets or get a closer view of my ships, I have to scroll the mouse wheel dozens of times for it to actually zoom in close up. In other game such as World of Warcraft, or any of my strategy
Update, yes binding it to another key did the trick, I now find the screenshot in bmp format in that screenshot folder. Is there a way to make them save in jpg or png format by chance?
Okay, I'll rebind the key because it's not saving them and see if that works. Thanks for the information. Also, if I might make a suggestion for a patch... Store the screenshots in an easily, unhidden location, like maybe "My Documents\My Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Screenshots". It seems really really strange to me that they are stored down deep in a hidden folder that most people will have hidden, in fact it seems more than strange, it's downright wrong to do it. Hell, ev
Hello, The game has been playing great, I was playing a game (singleplayer) for about 3 hours and everything was going along fine, then I built a military outpost in one of my colony planets and clicked the scuttle military outpost for one of the military satellites at my capital planets and the game locked up. My Computer: AMD 64X2 4800+ 2GB RAM Windows Vista Home Premium Nvidia 8800GTS X2 SLI App Log: Log Name: Application So
There is no such directory as Screenshot in the location you gave the path to. I've drilled down to that location and the following is the list of directoryies in there: AutoRecord-SinglePlayer AutoSave-SinglePlayer Galaxy Mods Record-SinglePlayer Save-SinglePlayer Setting Do I need to make the directory Screenshot for the game to save the screenshots when I hit the prtscrn button? This is a store bought game (best buy).
Hi, I've looked all over my Vista system trying to find where the screenshots are stored for SoaSE but have failed to find them. Could someone tell me where the screenshots are actually stored on a vista system? Also, is there a text document that holds our hotkey choices that I can format and print out? Having to view them in the game is not a good option and I'd like to be able to set them, then print out whatever text document is holding them for easy reference.
Yes I agree, there are some ships in the game that look pretty bad graphically. There was some ship I was up against (and this was only the tutorial) that looked like something that my 6 year old had drawn on the fridgerator) that looked like a tank in outer space, it looked out of place. Then there is that huge rusty capital ship, with all that rust Im suprised that the enemy doesn't just fly up to it and poke it with a finger to make it implode, I've seen cars on Planet Earth that ha
hELLO, Currently Im running Rocket dock and it suits my purposes good however with one exception. You see Im also running Stardocks Object bar I gather, it makes my task bar look like it's a mac with the File Edit View Help words on the task bar instead of the normal windows start bar. Now when I have multiple windows open they don't show up on the object bar task bar, there is no way for me to find them other than to do an alt tab to switch to the open wi
Yes, I do notice a slowdown on windows loading but once windows is loaded, then I don't notice any slowdowns with regards to windowblinds. However I have had Internet Explorer stop responding about 6 times now since I installed the whole Objects Desktop, but I only use the windowblinds part of it right now. Don't know if it's related or not. My computer has just had windows XP SP2 installed fresh so theres hardly anything else on it but a couple games, so I gather the slowdown in load
Thanks, found it. Works as intended it seems.
Hello, Im attempting to find an exceptions list in windowblinds 5.x where I can specify an application so that it doesn't get skinned. How do I go about accomplishing this? Thanks,
