Ok, so Ive given this some thought and maybe the best way to deal with the starbases lack of range it reduce the phase jump lanes. Arent they are 40 degrees now? Why not reduce them to 25 degrees. That way you can park a starbase right in the way and they can not jump around it with out it shooting.
How about being able to deploy long range detectors for starbases within a grav well? Give a star base three to four of those scanners which can be placed anywhere in the gr

well, there is another one: Drakensang. It comes from a german publisher and has not been translated into english yet. It is based on a pen and paper RPG (DSA: "Das schwarze Auge". Translated it means sth like "the dark eye" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Eye#Computer_and_Videogames). This pen and paper game is kind of famous in germany, perhaps even more known than dungeon and dragons. They published some computer games which are kind of old, but IMO are still one of the best because

X3 is pretty cool. However, you need time. You start as a little tiny independent trader and go from there. It takes time to actually have the money to sustain a fleet (You can even buy a whole star system at one time...). Yes, you can have a huge fleet and start conquering if you feel like it. But, honestly: It takes time! (In the new "X3: terran conflict", which is independent of the other "X3: Reunion" (more like an X4), you seem to be able to even hire marines and boarding parties

Unfortunatelly, I am not a modder. But it sounds really great! I hope the guys from Ironclad read this and can help you on it! Or some other modder. That's why I try to bump your post! Good luck! Boarding parties...[e digicons][/e]

You don't even know why those guys quit. Perhaps they have been unfair, stupid quitters. On th

Have no clue where the following is coming from: Soldier: "General, Sir! We are surrounded!" General:"Excellent! Now, we can attack in any direction...!"

Kruppe mentioned "42". 42 is VERY important and absolutley needs to be taken up into the list! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notable_phrases_from_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Answer_to_Life.2C_the_Universe_and_Everything_.2842.29

@ kingofgreens, Reply #64: Hey, I like that idea! How about the character becoming available automatically after the fifth search off the planet? That way it would actually make sense to invest money on planet search. Right now, I barely do it because the chance of finding a very good artifact (like the space ponies [e digicons]^_^[/e] ) are so low...

Yeah, sth needs to be done about those mines. Good idea about reprogramming mines... nice (has sth evil to it: "Hey, the mine which destroyes my level 10 Marza was once placed by me...!"). I would prefer something like a mine control center. Each mine control center can sustain 10 mines. Every grav well can handle up to 10 mine control centers. Those centers can only be detected by scouts. Once a control center has been destoyed, the mines it controled will explode, too. No mi

I would like to see the following: 1. mine control centers: Give each grav well 10 mine tactical slots. For each slot you can place 1 mine control center, which can control 10 mines in its space of influence. As those control centers are cloaked the enemy can't see them. The only ship which does not trigger those mines are the scouts. Once a mine control center is detected by a scout, the center can be targeted and destroyed, which would also destroy the mines in i
Orbital rangefinders....radar dishes,,,, call it what you want. Each one added adds to the range of starbases weapons by a percentage
Man, I love this idea! Perhaps a variation of it would be the following: Starbases Leave the range of the starbases as it is unchanged. However, add the ability to construct those rangefinders, which can be placed anywhere in the gravwell (The amount of rangefinders sustained by a sb can be increased by research). Every r

Hm, that would mean I could put my fleet into my mine field and let the enemy close in on me. His ships would be destroyed and mine would be fine... I don't know, but this does not sound good to me. If there is a good and fast way to implement it, then mines should affect all ships and structures around it....
