if you can't get out HC at the time, you could always get out LF's which is the hard counter against flak to tide you over until you get the big guns. You could also build a second or third capital. Flak barely do a thing on caps and HC. Even 30-40 barely scratches the paint. I am not kidding, a self repairing skarkovas can easily survive continued fire from dozens of flaks

i played a 1v1v1 game with an idlebot once, i kept stacking defence forces after i finally got the ball rolling on the guy i was fighting, wondering more and more wtf the green player was doing the more time passed. after over an hour he said in chat that he had just come back from walking his dog [e digicons]>:([/e] he spent all his stockpiled stuff to trench down something fierce too thank god i was tec so i could just novalith spam until he quit [e digicons][/e]
last time i played advent i built a lot of destra's, and one of my allies said "stop building destra's. they are useless" [e digicons]#:([/e]
Mines are fine too. They are not effective by themselves, so they are not something you can just spam to great effect. They cost jsut the right amount, and only dear mroe damage to your opponent than your wallet if they catch a group of ships. Wasting 4 mines to kill 1 flak is close to a wash.
in my last game, my ally lost a large fleet in a few seconds by jumping in on a heavily forti
So by act of God, you start as TEC and turn into Vasari by mid game?
yes, the ways of God are mysterious. either that or i was feverish. it's probably the second, either that or i was actually advent and dominated some tec ships then a skarkovas [e digicons]8(|[/e] or it could be, that in fear of loosing i 1v1v1 myself on 3 laptops and really annoy
loosing a lvl 10 cap is like getting an arm or a leg lopped off at an inopportune moment. loosing 2 lvl 10 caps is like coming 5 hours late to work when your boss is waiting for you, because you were probed by an alien with a powerdrill. loosing more than 2 lvl 10 caps is like waking up one day to realize the last 50 years of a happy, fulfilled life was actually a dream. In reality, you're broke, impotent, live in a cardboard box and everyone hate
......what? .....TEC is the most common race I see everyone play as. We lack Devoted Vasari players. When I see Vasari it is usually skilled players that have their favorite race set as random
in my last game, there was 5 vasari players, and one random. not a lot of tec, that. well, the random guy became tec so i guess that counts :P
no matter what race i play, i never send LRM fleet anywhere without a solid flak support. but that's just because i'm paranoid. i am still a good person though, i swear [e digicons]:pout:[/e] sometimes i go really crazy and actually build 2 flaks for every 1 LRM i got. i'm not kidding, i've done it, when i started right next to an advent. you can imagine my annoyance when the guy only built illums. I thank thee God, for the Great Gift of Skarkovas [e digicons]
(edit) whoops double post
the most dangerous thing to any cap in the game is probably a vasari egg cap's nano disasembler coupled with a dozen or two lrm's with some phase missile research. and if the cap tries to escape.... grav bomb him with the egg of doom :) just my opinion, anyway
I absolutely love impulse, for some games it can take a while to find patches, for some older ones its even impossible since noone uploads them anymore (Baldurs gate games), or I find a patch but cant download it anywhere, later realizing because it's only for some new version of the game that costs more (The Witcher). With impulse, I just start the program, wait a few secs for it to search for patches, click a button and laugh a bit thinking about how easy it is compared to many
I have beaten LRM spam entirely without carriers in a tec vs tec battle, I churned out a bunch of kodiak's with a light hoshiko support group and ate them alive :P
The starbase module that is supposed to prevent loss of planet control through bombing doesn't do anything at all, I had the module and my planet still got nuked and recolonized by the enemy. when will this bug be fixed?
If I have time to watch the planet bombing a bit, I thoroughly enjoy it. After all, it's some pretty nifty fireworks right there. And you don't have to play for an hour like in Fallout 3 just to see it. The first time I saw the planet bombardment I thought "wow, that's some pretty massive firepower there! looks nice!" some time later I began wondering why the capitals dont use that crazy firepower on orbital structures and space stations [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] <
what exactly, does the research and economic treaties do? At first i thought research treaties basically was exchanging new techs that you discovered, but I never seemed to get any from the race I did the treaties with
