All I gotta say is that we better be able to skin that damn ribbon - all the buttons, the background, and ALL the icons on it. I don't care if it's a lot more work to skin it all. I'm really developing a hatred for that shade blue (and those icons are just ugly).

I had a thought, and I could be way off base here, but all the skins you mentioned were made with "vista style positioning' on the start button. Try one that does not have that enabled. Garnet Storm is one that I know does not have that (cause I made it). If you load that one, and your problem goes away, then maybe your computer is having trouble with that setting.
