General Scientific knowledge: A planet's gravitational well extends from the planet to the edge of the universe. It's just at the furthest point from the planet the gravitational pull from that planet is so minuscule that it is almost undetectable. Technically, the gravity well of a planet would allow you to build anywhere. You know what would be an interesting world? Being able to control construction frigates completely, so you can jump them to an enemy planet and start "towering" a

What does that mean? Are you adding the two cores together there? Yes I am... It's 1.8 Ghz. I might upgrade my processor later, if I need it and based on funds. I'd love to upgrade my Ram to match your 4GB... in fact, I think thats the next upgrade I'm getting (followed closely by Vista to use DX10 on my GTX, a new case, and maybe a new HD that runs faster than the HP "hand-me-down" I'm currently using).<
Warcraft 1 & 2 had two races WC3 had 4 races (roughly), + High-Elves (which could be played if you possessed one of the workers) Expansion had Naga as well. It doens't have to be balanced-some races are minor BALANCE IS EVERYTHING!!! Biggest problem with WoW is balance. No balance causes everyone to be angry and mad. The ones that are balanced will be the Major races an
Poor Pandemic got their priest disqualified for some reason. REEEEE-tarded!
GAAAAH! I have yet to find a copy of that game. Its driving me crazy ! The only time I found a place selling it, they wouldn't take my debit card because of a stupid typo that I can not track down for the life of me (in either the billing address or my name...) haha, I'm half tempted to mail you my copy.. Have you tried Ebay? I don't play it anymore, though I have been thinking it for a time. Only thing I did
The quotes are in backwards chronological order, bare with me And in any case, the class is way easier then college courses. Over 80% of all students entering college are at least 2 years behind in reading and writing skills. It's because many people do not enjoy reading, unlike myself. Then, no one really shows intell
So don't go for a contact mine, go for some kind of stand-off mine. E. G. a laser warhead of some kind, or give it engines to "ram" with. Also, don't forget that phase lanes essentially act as a chokepoint, giving a legitimate position for placing the mines. Remember the magnetic mines from Homeworld/Homeworld 2? They were devistating.
hahah, my college/gaming PC I built for myself: Intel Mobo (I'm too lazy to go through the entire model) 4 GB RAM (I forget timing) 8800 GTX 800 Watt Power Supply (yes, my computer runs on souls) 250GB Sata HD DVD RW drive I think 16x 3.6 (total) GhZ Dual Core Processor (I think E6700) It runs like a dream. cost? $1600 American
Any idea why? It would make for much more tactical battles. EDIT I know, I should dig around the forums, but I'm a tad bit lazy right now
[offtopic] I doubt Phalnax811 is a senior, maybe a junior. Mostly it's seniors that take AP English, at least at my school. The rest is Honors or Academic. [/ontopic] As an extensive RTS player, I am going to list my favorite RTSs from greatest to least. 1) Warcraft 3 2) Command and Conquer 3 (their online play stuff is a pain to set up) 3) C&C: Red Alert (1st RTS I played... still have it for PS1 and compy) 4) Homeworld/Homeworld 2 5) SupCom (the units are al
Another interesting idea would to have actual moons and actual planetary defenses. Planets should be able to have like 3-5 fighter squads on the planet, rather than having to build a hanger which only contains 2 squads. Once a planet is stripped of it's defenses, there is nothing to do about keeping it. A planet should be able to support ICBMs or fighter bays or something like that to protect it from sieges and to destroy siege frigits. Also, having moons orbiting in a planets gravity well w
[ontopic] A good idea is to make MORE space lanes, or as crusaderstar already said, allow multiple jumps without needing to go from gravwell to gravwell. Right now the most effective strategy is to mass the largest fleet at the most tactical point. The computer is great at massing, but poor at decided what will allow the greatest advantage. I think this should change because it gets boring af
Can you build or attack on a 3D axis? That would create a lot more strategy to the game. If you could build at the very top or bottom of a planet's gravity well, you could place precious structures where they can only be attacked in a certain direction. I understand that 3D was mostly aesthetic, but in a PLANET conquering game, I think 3D could be used much more usefully than in Homeworld, where no matter what you do, you'll end up on the same plane as the mothership. Imagine this: Y
I think there also should be more real space than just outside planets. It would be awesome if someone decided to send a broken fleet (not jumping together) and then have a small fleet in the middle of a jump lane pull the enemy fleets battlecruiser out of jump, allowing you to destroy it. It would set up many more tactics to ambush and create blockades (for trade ships). Another thing that bothers me a little (due to my space pickyness) is that planets aren't arranged in any real orb
I agree, plants should all be different. It would definitely change strategic values of planets, as well as create more variety. It would also be cool if there are different types of planets, like gas giants, ice planets, etc. where on one it would have great recourses, but wouldn't be able to build defenses because its a gas giant! Also, 'deffend' is spelled defend. One f
Maybe they could tier teching depending on map size. Maybe a 1-2 minute tech on a small map (such as online ladder play) and 10-15 minute tech on huge maps. Also, maybe you could have a started teching point. Say in shorter games, you start with higher technology than in huge long games, where you start lower.
