Gee, I'd love to see this quote in context.
If memory serves the context was a number of factors. The timing of the release and avoiding releasing when other major titles were to be released, and also a small dev team and the need for funds to keep going. Context in the other sense, this was said on IRC and also a forum post (I think) in repsonse to the dropping of certain features, single player campaign and a reason for a lower reta

Yes, I understand what you mean regarding changes in statements. However, I think in the context of Sins this point you make is a little over the top given the develpment history and what was promised, particularly in light of the gamer bill of rights. You can't claim to be representing gamers interests whilst contradicting your own codes of conduct. Now, I acknowledge that Sins was released in some countries at a lower retail price than most PC games. However, looking

For all three expansion packs, at UK prices, I would be paying the equivilent of two PC games. Given what I have said regarding the acknowledged release of Sins in an unfinished state and also keeping in mind the lack of a single player campaign, really add weights to mine and others line of argumentation, IMO. Now, if a compromise was offered, say releasing all of the content that was originally meant to be free and in the original Sins release for $10 or $12 (i.

Although I dont agree with the tone the OP takes, I do agree with most of the points the OP makes. Pre-release on IRC and elsewhere both Ironclad and Stardock reps said that they were releasing sins early and in an unfinished state, for commercial reasons. They also said that stuff such as diplomacy and some of the other features missing due to a needed early release, would be made available via a patch. At one point I believe the patch said to contain said features would be 1.11.

Hi, Just played a game and noted some strange things. I played Vasari as did one of my opponents. He was able to disable my fleet and prevent jumps with his giant egg, but not a single target rather my entire fleet. Even when his giant egg was not in the well he was still able to do this to my fleet. I asked him what he was doiong and he acknowledged it was a bug he knew about /quote "yeah I know wierd shit happens". If devs need a replay please PM me so I can e

Ahh yes, I would take great pleasure in attacking a dev or mod ingame to quell my frustrations with the design choices. [e digicons]|-)[/e] Perhaps a quick defeat via a rush of some sort to really rub salt in to the wounds, followed by a quote from a few years back including the words 'rushing', 'will not bepossible', 'game design intent', 'the game we are making will...' I can confirm what Howdidudothat has experienced. In my case after about 10 mins in the replay seemed to transpose into an actual game with the ai playing it out. I could, however, review the chat that occurred.

RE 'games day events'; excellent I think this is really needed. As for the comment RE expansion packs; once I've seen the content of them I may purchase them as a bundle, if they are ever released as such. ATM and as single items I just don't see the value in them particularly given the original intent on releasing some of this content for free. For the sake of the multiplayer community, I just hope that either myself or others are

Yeah, I take your point about Entrenchment. However unfortunatley I won't be getting Entrenchment nor the other so called expansions. In the UK sins costs about £27.50, which is the price of many PC games. Add on another £27.50 for all three expansions, and you are looking at a very expensive single 'PC' game...the cost of two PC games in the UK.

At present I have the latest 1.1 beta installed and note a complete abscence of a multiplayer community. By abscence I mean bar two occasions, I have been the only one in the lobby waiting to catch a game. The question I want to put forwards for discussion is 'will multiplayer be rejuvenated with 1.1'? If you think it will be rejuvenated what are your reasons and likwise, what are your reasons if you think it will not be rejuvenated?

Would anyone be willing or have the knowledge to create a mod that sets resources from roids to finite? I am willing to pay $30 for this! A few of my friends really enjoyed finite resources as sins played in a more mature manner, and given that one cannot find many multiplayer games as is, we thought that we might hook up again online under the proposed new (actually original) gameplay 'feature'. Cheers!

You are right, YOUR answer does not satisfy me. Nor do I view the 'explanations' you refer to as answers from the dev's mouths, as answering my questions. The word conspiracy is very, imo, disingenuous of you. As for how this relates to the 'gamer's bill of rights', well given the older PR stuff I think it would be fair to say 'rights' 2 and 3 are challanged. The irony eh?
