Got it - sounds like a good arrangement. I was hoping there was some sort of reward system and recognition for the hard work. I also wanted to know where my money is going when I buy a premium item. Hey Zubaz - last night after reading through this thread I went and pulled out my old Winbook laptop with Windows 3.1 on it. It acutally worked - well - I think I ate supper while it booted up but it sure was a walk back in time. Sometimes it is nice to remember where we came from. Kind of makes you appreciate what we have now even if we do fuss about it sometimes. I have to admit Apple was ahead of the rest.

Just stay aware of anything weird in regard to fan noise or temps with that clip broken. I am sure there are overclockers like me on here and they can tell you stories of what heat does and how fast. Also the seating of the fans, heatsinks, and CPU seating are all critical - to the point it drives you crazy as to the lack of tolerance of these things in regard to CPU cooling. At least you should sleep good tonight! <b

To a computer - Heat = Death plain and simple. Dust acts as an insulator and at some point no amount of fans will keep the CPUs safe. I have preached on this issue for years but then as you found out it is no fun doing it but the old saying "pay me now or pay me later" applies here.

I have a question - how many Vista users have had Vista totally crash requiring a reboot? I have had the usual suspects in Vista - Windows Explorer and Dreamscapes crash but always have recovered without total system failure. Windows XP on the other hand - and I have a great deal of experience with XP as I administer a 600 machine network all running XP Pro - when it crashes it is a full shutdown issue. Not advocating either here - don't want my birthday taken away -

I know you are onto something - and I see people use shortcuts all the time - my problem is I am old and I can never remember all those combinations. Maybe I need to upgrade my personal memory - if I could figure out how to put a stick or two of memory into my brain I would be all set!

Gets hard to believe when you compare the processing power and memory today to back then. How times have changed - wonder if we will talk about the computers we have today the same way in 10 years. I wonder what it is going to be like when there are no keyboards and only our thoughts with true holographic screens? Should be cool for sure!

My first computer was a Radioshack Tandy 8088 with an RGB Monitor - I don't want to even remember what I paid for it. The first game I bought was King's Quest and I had to keep taking the disks out and put another one in when I would go off the visible screen. I was living high tech at that time! Considering the variables involved in hardware and software is it not reasonable to think we all might have very different experiences with Vista? If that is so then it would be very hard to get agreement on anything regarding an operating system. I say work with what you like and enjoy the journey - it isn't about the destination anyway.
