jjz, i'm going to give this a go with the trek mod i'm working on, i'm sure to have some feedback for you soon.
darkshimmer
actually i'm liking the thought some of you are having on posting a get to gether of sorts to tryout the mod online. Anyone know of a public calender we can use to post such, i might even be inclined to join! would be a good way to spot issues or potiental issues as well. i actually just thought of something else, i need about 8 Volunteers

From now on I am just a spectator and will keep my "suggestions" to myself. The argument is ridiculous as my suggestion to change an already fantastic MOD. v/r the now silent fan.
no need to be silent your suggestion was a good one, its just not w
Got it. So is it possible for the explosions to deal damage to nearby ships? i dunno if its possible or not, you might have to ask Manshooter or another resident Sins Code monkey on that one. o and feel free to argue on, i'm getting a kick out of it, Its better than throwning in a sandwich into a room of hungry people. It c
I'm sure this was covered, but I missed it. Surveillancemike was mentioning bigger looking ships, which got me to thinking---when a frigate dies, it explodes, when a capital ship dies it explodes bigger. When the borg cube dies.....its a very relatively small anti climatic explosion compaired to the size of the cube. Are the explosions sized according to the type of ship exploding, or just a "generic" explosion attatched to a
I dont want to mess w/ an ALMOST PERFECT MOD, but do you guys have any way to make the ships bigger, i mean they are SO small, maybe its the new updates, etc, but I havent played this game in about 3+ months, and ONLY reinstalled it to play this mod....LOVE it...so i was just wonderign if there was a way to make them look bigger, if i had to mod anyhitng which probly would be good, or if its in the options.... Thanks guys, please email or
Also, why is the federation varsari? i would have though it would be Tech
Federation, Dominion are both Advent... dunno why you guys keep keeping they are vasari. Roms are vasari, klingons are tech, but thats not going to mean much in .04
I concur, i obtained the file from FileFront and the Devastator does not have 8700 shield. All Dominion elite ships use 50 fleet supply slots, which may give you any easy idea of the versioning but problems seems to affect frigates and cruisers. I also noticed that Dominion polaron beams seems to have a short range, this can be a problem as the other factions get an initilal salvo wit
Although i still dont understand the reason why the Dominions 2nd powerful/expensive ship only has 1800-2000 shield power, its a very expensive ship and only lasts a few seconds, to be 100% sure i checked the stats in the gameinfo folder and it states the same its around 1800-2000 shield power where as a galaxay for example has almost 4 times that. Dont know the exact value as i dont have access to my comp at the mo.
the Devi
Not sure if this is final but is the galor remaining as a frigate? I would of thought it would be more of a cruiser rather than a frigate. But thats just my opinion.
yes it will stay a frigate, the keldon is really the cruiser but we made it an elite so the cards would have at least one.
Some dominion vessels seems underpowered when it comes to firepower or shields, mainly seems to be cruisers and the elite vessel
I think that the federation was underpower in both shield and weapons, and that the pirates were too many and overpower... come on a kligon pirate has more than 3000 in shield points, and more than 140 demage per shot, and that the sheer number of pirates
i think this is pretty funny, especially since those pirate ships are unmodified ships from feds, roms and klingons. They are j
Has the Entrenchment mod shown any actual promise for making the ship movement similar to fighter movement since that was briefly mentioned in passing a few pages ago?
won't know until its out of beta, from what i understand its not in yet.... i've got my fingers crossed hoping it will be.
am i the only one whom was asking for the New Orleans class since the beginning? If (and it's a very big IF) dark and/or Stress decide to take the lakota out of it's Cap Ship Slot, this is what i would want to replace it. it's TNG era and its a good counterpart to the ambassador in returns....But i doubt that Stress will decide to do that
Trekmania don't like you too much?
i'm guessing i'm the only one that noticed that your building frigates at cruiser speeds?
Hey I was wondering if the cost for the Melek class ship was a mistake. It is only about 2000 credits, which does not make sense compared to the cost of all the other ships. I was also wondering why the D'deridex capital ship and other Romulan capital ships don't have beam weapons. I thought at least the D'deridex did.
i will look into it it should say 4067
I've been playing for a while today and wondered if you knew that some of the frigates required more supply than some cruisers(excelsior=21 steamrunner=18 while defiant= 19 and akira= 17). Is this how it is supposed to be? I find frigates aren't used really at all in the mid to late game. Other than that everythings great.
yep i'm wor
I had a harder time getting my economy going since the Feds use the Vesari tech tree. I'm used to TEC. Kind of strange - I always thought of the Feds as more like the TEC.
they use Advent not Vesari
Ok so I was trying this out earlier on and I have to say it's quite nice. However, one complaint I have is the speed at which ships are destroyed. I think the destruction should be slowed down a bit. Still, good work guys.
we've already slowed the battles down, please wait for the .04 version to be released
Last things is, well, I know I've said this before, but I still feel the Lakota is out of place as a cap ship. I know it's not my mod, not trying to claim otherwise, but it just feels wrong to see AIs cruising around with an excelsior class as their flag ship. I'm sorry, but it's a TMP era ship, get a TNG ride! Come on, AIs! I know you can do it. I just wish there was some TNG era ship cannon or otherwise that would actually look cool and be convncing as a cap ship. (sorry, know I've s
I noticed the federation's regular frigates (the mirandas, centaurs, constellations, etc) all require twice as much supply (mirandas 8, centaurs 11...if i recall correctly). While the heavy cruisers (intepid, akira all range around 14-17). Is there a reason why the lesser frigates are taking up so much pop? I was only able to get like 5 ships (including free cap) before i hit the pop wall. Also I noticed the computer didnt really bother to get the smaller frigates in the early stages.
Quoting darkshimmer, reply 19 i am hoping when they release the fighter movement we were told they are working on releasing i don't want to do too much to it or it will throw off the lateral and aft firing They are??? That's going to be truly awesome if it happens. I've been cuing up moves around enemy ships and then zooming in to watch to get my Trek-style battle visuals, but this sounds much more i
Balance-wise, I'd say that the top-tier cap ships are a bit uber - they're both extremely strong and deal tons of lethal damage. This may be less of an issue if the first cap ship weren't free, but as is a single Romulan Warbird or Sovereign will wipe the floor with a small fleet, and tend to one-shot (or at least one-volley) ships a lot. Maybe tone down their main weapons, but keep them hard to kill - and save the one-shot kills for the special abilities when you roll'em out in .4.[/q
Yeah I remember reading all those, that's why i didn't really want to suggest it, but some ships like the Akira just aren't quite shining like they used to. Sorry for asking you to do more work, but thanks for the time and effort you've put into this and are continuing to put in.
The akira is still the most powerful non quantum using ship using torps. This is mainly due to the number of torpedoes she fires which is reflected
does the pirate "cut-throat" ever go on raids?
it use to, but now you see why it was removed.
I haven't tried taking pirates with romulans or klingons but with the federation...
The results should be the same
It's also nice to actually see the quantum torpedoes the sovereign throws into the mix. They used to blend right in with the photons so was rare
