Lately, I've been experimenting more with using Bombers, and was pleastantly surprised at how well they work early to mid game. On the surface, you'd think that bombers wouldn't work well vs light frigates because they only do 50% damage against that armor type, but I've found that bombers do enough raw base damage to be fairly effective in that role. And against structures and capitals they're pretty good. In the early and mid game they're a good for raiding infrastructure an
Advent tends to have a hard time against vasari because of phase missles, and 1.03 makes mid/late game so much more favorable to TEC. I personally have doubts whether advent is a viable choice in a competitive game until 1.04 is out.
I've won a game as Advent. The trick is to get a couple of capitals with strong special abilities (I don't go for Radiance until mid-game; Advent strength is in special abilities). It was a 2v2 set game and the two opponents ignored my part
I've also really liked the Halcyon carrier's ability to passively increase energy weapon damage of ships near it. That adds up quickly.
Especially combined with Malice. Malice and and the Halcyon's weapon rate of fire enhancement are both good by themselves. Together, they are hell on wheels.
It's possible the mechanic was implemented late in development as a quick-fix means to prolong combat and help make it more manageable.
I think this is exactly what's going on, and it's a good thing, IMO. Being good at micro is part of winning the game. With mitigation in effect, it gives you time to survey a battle for a moment after it starts and get the right orders to your ships. It makes tactics matter. Without mitigation, command and control would be nearly impo

Well, you're micro managing is largely dictated by your fleet mix and strategy behind that fleet mix. I'll address your questions as best I can, and I'll give you some examples of what I've been doing. Now I've only been playing for about 3 weeks, so anything I say might not be optimal. I consider myself a decent player (I've played against humans online twice and won both times, but that's enough games to call myself any kind of an expert), but there are certainly better players than me.<br/
finally, the increased exposure to AoE attacks is SO significant a problem for the LRM blob that is common to TEC fleets that it makes me laugh. A couple of Radiation Bombs from a Marza or a shot of Reactive Nanites from a Kortul can just blow a fleet like that to tiny bits in no time at all.
If you're Advent, Malice followed up by massed interceptor strikes is pretty potent against LRMs as well.
I wouldn't be so sure about the ordering of terran, vasari, advent for the colonizers. The advent mothership abilities are just godly. Malice allows for a large area damage propogation which doesn't seem to trigger shield mit. Shield regen is pretty much a temporary invulnerability field. Maybe the terran and vasari colonizers work better for you in combat situations... but from reading other people's posts and my own experience the advent mothership is one of the top capitals out there..

Keep in mind that I've only been playing two weeks, so my perceptions might be a bit off. TEC is strong in the early game. They're good if you like to rush. Their ships also seem to have fairly heavy armor and have strong staying power in combat, especially after you research up their armor. Adding repair cruisers to your fleet further bolsters this staying power. Advent is kind of weak early, but have many positively lethal capital ship abilities. Animosity combined with V
We need either:1) a more effective counter to LRM's (since flak dont have the firing arcs to appropriately deal with them). If only there were some kind of damage that did 200% damage versus LRMs (Light Armor)... some kind of, I don't know, fighter unit, maybe...
Agreed. I've found that deploying light carriers backed up a handful of flaks can put down some serious hurt on LRMs. Of course, CVLs take a bit longer to get if you're TEC, but if you find yourself on the defe

I think bombers are good against CAs, but I find that bombers die too easily in large battles. If I use carriers to any significant degree, they're loaded with interceptors to suppress enemy bombers and long range frigates. As mentioned before, try to get better upgrades, do a better job with micro, and use your capital ship abilities more intelligently.
the dreadnort or the kol battleship which is best???/
Depends on how you balance your fleet. They're both good ships. Most of the Marza's main batteries face forward, so it's good for taking out individual ships fast. This is good if you're trying to down an enemy capital ship or taking out a few of a certain kind of ship in his fleet that is hampering you. The Kol's guns are spread out more widely over the ship, so it can engage several targets simulatenously. It's

I've been working on a new strategy for the Advent. I haven't been able to play it enough to how well it works. Early game, instead of getting a battleship or colony cap for my first cap ship, I get the big carrier and build interceptors on it. Its consorts will initially consist of Disciple vessels and Illuminators. The Disciple vessels are primarily to take down anti-fighter frigates. The Interceptors from the carrier are very good at countering LRM spam. The Illuminators are uni
