I would really like to know what you guys are using for galaxy settings. The Mimot have done fairly poorly in every game I've played so far. -tid242
yeah the more space you have, the better the mimots do. also though, something the ai may or may not take advantage of sometimes is the fact that the mimots are designed to use missiles right now. they make glass cannons anyway, and with missiles t

well it's 2 things... first the atk value is actually a random number between 1 and the attack value shown. and 2, there's this thing the battle log does where it changes the attack number to always be at least 1 higher than the defense roll (which is also a random number) so it always does at least 1 dmg. this is why the numbers never match up for that. they def know it works like this too... several ppl have commented about it
Yeah, i completely agree, beams need a boost.
use custom civs, lower the AI difficulty level for them, or just never play against them. these seem to be the main ways people are dealing with them
well u also see the bonus when you hover over their portrait and see that the 0.5 growth rate has changed to something higher, but i honestly dont know when this happens. it was a version a few weeks ago but i had over 50 promethion and saw no increase. and whatever it is i'm guessing it starts out slow. i tried the strat of going strait for 2 constructors first and rushing nearby purp stars for prometion, but i never saw an early game increase from that. the tactic u have to use with the ony

yeah i personally like the variation in the races too. i agree a set stat might be a ok idea for the yor though :P
the more i think about it the more i'm not sure if the accuracy and dodge changes will work well. this will give all weapons a good chance of doing near max dmg every hit, with no chance for the opponent to actually dodge anything. it will always hit if accuracy and dodge work for ranges instead of actually hitting or dodging anything. to take out the dodge factor completely for smaller ships, and put everything on defense like that... well it's very unrealistic for one. one reason smaller sh
the fact that you're always doing 1 dmg may just be bad luck too. but the fact that the dmg isn't taking turns... it show you each doing damage a couple times in a row sometimes, then back and forth sometimes... and always 1 dmg with a kinetic weapon that should always be doing 1-4 dmg... the battle log is just not making any sense to me... in multiple ways
my guess from this specific one though is that it's doing the thing where it adds attack to be +1 of whatever that defense roll was, since each attack always does 1 dmg. instead of just having it do 1 dmg or not blocking all of it though, it changes the attack so the attack can do 1 dmg through the defenses. this makes no sense to me though in terms of why it would work this way
Also check me on something. When the system does the offense number, does it do it "per weapon type"? Example: I have a ship with 10 beam, 12 missile, and 20 kinetic. Each round, do I fire: 1 shot 1-10 damage 1 shot 1-12 damage 1 shot 1-20 damage.
yeah ppl have been pointing this stuff out for a while. we were told though that the battle log is working fine, and that we just dont really understand how combat works. many people have seen many numbers that dont make sense though. i'm not sure if the battle logs are wrong or if there are just many more mystery mechanics than we realize, which is very possible since the devs are very big fans of mystery mechanics... crits might even be a thing, who knows. from the battle log numbers i see

yeah i'll update it to include the fact that each shot does at least 1 dmg, ty.
First things first, I have played GalCiv 1-3 with all expansions available, GalCiv 4 is the best so far. There is a lot more character and personality in GalCiv 4. I am unable to put into words; GalCiv4 just feels more alive and you get the feeling that you are really building a Galactic Civilization. Back to questions I would like to ask: Are research items randomized? It seems I can only research th
Thanks for added info, Basilisk83 (and for the other replies above). Much appreciated. Again, it doesn't make the gut check, right? If I have already made a Survey ship, why must I unlock the tech in order to make more?
np :) and yeah i agree with u on that one. and u have to research a few techs before u can research the tech that lets u build them, so it's def a little strange. some commander ships can surv
Thanks so much for the informative reply, scifi1950. The fact that a civ can only make another Survey ship after finding yellow anomalies doesn't make much sense. I mean, the civ has already made one and thus ought to know how to build such a thing. If there is some sort of lore behind the yellow anomaly requirement, it certainly isn't explained.
oh, anomalies arent required to build them, you need to r
freighter ships are sent to other civ's worlds to establish trade routs, which earn both civs credits per turn. What are the requirements for sending to another Civ? Can I send it to any Civ I am friendly with in any way? Seems strange to just send a Ship to another Civs planet (out of the blue).
pretty sure u can send one to any civ you're not at war with.
I have a couple of Freighter ships but I don't know what to do with them. How do I use them? I also have a Supply ship. I guess I just send it to a planet, but it needs to be a core world. Is that correct? What is a good strategy for using Supply ships? Also, is there a way to get more Survey ships? I don't see it as an option to build. Thanks!
freighter ships are sent to other civ's wor
When I create the mission for treasure hunt, nothing happens. No ship and no mission. I'm on 1.01, have my own civilization.
