It's not 'supposedly' I tried it and it works, although I have a clean install of vista now, since I got a new laptop, So I cant give any details of SP3
Omni, I only used "supposedly" because I dl'd RC1 directly from the MS site. Didn't have to insert a registry key or use Win Update. I haven't dl'd RC2, mainly because I'm being lazy this weekend....
I have been using the internet since 1994 and BBS systems before that on a DAILY BASIS and have never gotten a single virus on my system, perhaps until now. Very few people have that kind of track record.
Actually, Lotherius....I've NEVER had a virus on my PC. EVER. Period. And I've had the 'net since....ummm....well, a long-ass time ago anyway. I'm a freak about internet security. Probably comes out of being obsessive-compulsive. I change my passwords frequently

The thing about the dl...if you want to dl it from MS, go to their site and search for XP SP3 RC2. It will bring you to a list. You have to install a key in your registry that tells Windows Update that you can dl the RC. It (supposedly) will show up in Win Update......

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist! One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine
btw... If you're going to be a dinosaur, be a T-Rex...
hehehe... The unfortunate thing is that most people just don't care about image. I believe the prevalent train of thought is this: "It's the internet...who really gives a sh*t?"... It seems that proper use of the English language is in a rapid decline. It's been a few years since I was in high school....do they still teach English there?

I've been using RC1 since it was released. No complaints here. Everything works fine, no known issues. PC boots faster and seems more stable. Haven't had a crash yet (although I rarely had one before). Most importantly, it seems to work with ALL my SD apps just fine.....

I think the Masons are involved in this conspiracy too, Don. Let's not forget that they have their hands stirring ALL the pots. After reading some of the other forum posts, I'm surprised that no one has accused SD of being part of the conspiracy (I think Brad and Neil are members of the Illuminati/Masons/your choice ofany secret society here).....

Not me. I have the ending theme to "Bleach, Season 1" by Rie Fu stuck in my head. I love her voice, tho. "Nobody knows who I really am I never felt this empty before And if I ever need someone to come along, Who's gonna comfort me, and keep me strong? We are all rowing the boat of fate The waves keep on coming and we can't escape But if we ever get lost on our way The waves would guide you through another day. Far away, I'm breathing, as if I we

Don, I have come to realize that some folks just want something (anything, really) to whine about. It's all a conspiracy: the software corps. like MS are in cahoots with PC manufacturers and parts suppliers to bleed the common folks dry. ;p I often wonder if people realize how stupid that sounds....
Some people are cheap bastards. I spent $40 for 2GB of RAM and another $40 for an el cheapo nVidia GeForce 8400GS. Is $80 for hardware upgrades really such a burden?
And that's my point. I got 2 gigs of ddr w/ heatsinks for about $80 off newegg (i love u newegg!) and an nvidia 8500GT 512mb SLI for $129.00 at best buy. People want to bitch about their PCs not being good enough for Vista, but they won't go spend any $$ to upgrade and solve their problems. I guess people thi

I love Dave Barry. Used to read his newspaper articles all the time. Unfortunately the paper where I live now does not carry him. Thanks, NT. That's good stuff (and true pearls of wisdom!).

A.S., that is amazing. I saw the "Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva" when I lived in North Carolina (in a little town called Waynesville). There is a festival there called Folkmoot, with dancers from all over the world. As pretty as it was then, this is so much more impressive. They're all deaf....absolutely amazing....absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing this, A.S.
