Oh dear, there goes my mod plans. No stats will make things much more difficult. Oh well. On another note, a surrender bonus could be huge. If a player defeats a merchant sovereign then they should get the gildar discount for units.

Thriving under limited options calls for organization and creativity. Most games are so rigid they often don't allow much of either for the player. Here's my little roguelike story to give an example. Remember Nethack? To begin, I was dungeoneering along the early levels as a stealthy elf. Along the road comes a nice hefty (unidentified) weapon. One of the features of Nethack basic is identification is not readily available at the nearest

Some (previously unmentioned) points why I will miss city snakes. Combat: ■ Great difficulty blocking advancing armies in (wider) chokepoints. -A one tile city just doesn't cut it unless maybe on a hex grid. Self explanatory. Modding: ■ Can it be modded back in? <span style="font-fa
@Boobztwo, GirlFriendTess, Neilo Oh my, where to start? Rather than individual quotes I'll try to lump them for saving time and space. Uh, this is going to be long and my throbbing head is tapioca right now. Sure what the hell why not? Will beta 3 readjust damage calculations for stacks? It affects everything ranging from kiting to glass cannons, see below. FE's system measures X amount of damage successfully dealt always equals Y number of units per stack are dead, no exceptions. That includes magical damage too. The problem is distribution of the damage dealt. If I dealt 10 damage against ten units, should two of them always fall dead 100% of the time or should there be a possibly
Obviously, if someone doesn't feel that way they should say whatever they think is accurate.
I'll bite. FE's combat feels a bit lacking and while Stardock is balancing the game it does not (yet) have that addictive value that will make it a full success. Two types of factions, the Kingdoms and the Empires share the same unit build types amongst themselves. Then later gameplay becomes
I agree, we need a reasonable scale. But just changing the current system to something like this only works if everyone has one attack, which they don't. 10 men with swords then do up to 1000 damage. There's nothing wrong with that, so long as every unit gets multiple attacks. And it's about more than just the basic weapon values: what about all those bonuses that the game gives to sovereigns and units as they gain levels, traits, s
Classic bait and switch. Bioware/EA probably planned this from the beginning as MMOs desperately need the initial sales and user base after such a large investment. They just didn't want to risk SWtor losing potential sales like how GTA's porn patch did until after the product was already sold to unwitting customers. I'm disgusted how any business can pull shenanigans and just jerk people around like this. Customers here have a legiti
We can kill two birds with one stone here. Automatically channel surplus production directly out into the field for (slower) military upgrading. If we make army upgrades partially automatic by the production/unrest ratio slider we can reward players who go for elite equipped but significantly smaller unit armies because they will have less in a group to upgrade each time and far less overhead. By comparison, players who race for the largest possible army c
Wildmana had the best AI and the Better Naval Battles patch for the original came in a close second. Master of Mana was the designed in mind for more advanced users only but paid off with improved decision trees and dynamic complexity. Orbis had the best custom sound tracks and additional content. Rife later followed suit by adopting most of them. Big thumbs up, they were really good, fit the settings very well and each was triggered according to the religion you chose
Media must be the only commercial industry in existence that can thrive under the motto the customer is always wrong. Any other is either a necessity hence regulated or caves in to real world capitalist free market economics. Anyone who doesn't believe me should go complain to a major media outlet and observe the response. Either, one your wrong because we know everything or two, your wrong because there is something wrong with you and your political demographic plus w
Guys, Germany had railguns in WWII that reached all the way across to the UK. It's antique technology. We never upgraded until now because the enemy hasn't. The big difference now is the cannons are literally not miles long, more energy efficient and projectiles reach greater maximum speed. Saddam also had a private contractor build him one that could easily reach Isreal. Although that one was originally designed to cheaply launch payloads into space fo
Also, I'm not really sure on the mechanics at this point, but how is unit production handled, specifically costs and production time? Because it might be a nice idea to separate the training time for the unit from the production time of its equipment. That way techs that deal mainly with unit traits and special abilities could go into the warfare tech tree, and production could stay mainly in the civics tree (where it belongs IMO). Warfar
If you really want to see a professional troll technique IRL that is actually used in business then I suggest you see the (new) Delphi technique. No not the one listed in wikipedia, that's the old legit Delphi method. The new one is a very clever form of trolling manipulation to get the illusion of consensus from a group but in fact all it does is some community sleight of hand. I'm showing you this so you can more easily identify this specific stand
The real trolls are those in real life and have integrated it into their day job. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] For example, certain very popular talk show hosts or as I call them political entertainers, have mastered the art of trolling usually in the form of hidden Ad hominem attacks. I'd like to do a study myself to see the correlation between trolls and people who are entertained by others getting trolled over the airwaves.
Civ V has some some nice ideas on paper but too many were poorly executed on release. Glad to hear it got better. Still gonna wait from a friend if it will be worth purchasing on release. No more preorders. Don't rip Civ4 too hard guys. Sure it had its flaws but through mods Civ4 opened the 4x to fun new options like not comquering a empire nation but instead causing a nationwide revolution splitting up your oversized overreach

So I went to the horses mouth and here is what it said. The First Church of Atheism states: Atheism is the belief there is no god the word atheism originated from the Greek (atheos), meaning “without god”. Atheists tend to be sceptical of supernatural claims, citing a lack of empirical evidence. And the best explanation so far for why the natural world looks the way it does is the theory of evolution first put forward by Charles Darwin Evolution is the proc

They first attempted it with Romney, epic fail.&n
Look guys, if the good old USofA and Isreal can launch a *pause for effect* cyber attack against Iran's nuclear refining plant then Anonymous won't pose much of a threat to national security. But hey what do I know??
Shucks. I didn't think so, at least as far as enabling it for one unit only. Well thank you for your time Heavenfall.
For a long time I have thought of separating Melee and Ranged defense, but didn't say anything. If we did go that route, I could see at least certain melee weapons adding to melee defense (for instance, Daggers likely wouldn't add much defense)
It's the best way to balance armored ranged units imo. Why would you armor up archers? To help them stay alive long enough when kiting!
