I use First Defense-ISR (similar to Acronis)and do several images. Something goes wrong short of an HDD going south I just re-boot to a previous image and voila. Of course all critical data is also backed up on external drives and/or to DVD. Formatting is a pain I don't wish to endure unless necessary. ;p
