Just an added bit of irony - in the United States, the major networks are independent. In UK, they're owned by the government... At least our news doesn't come from the government.

Most things have a 1 year warranty. But on 90 days there's not much you can do. You can send it in for repairs but that'll cost almost as much as getting a new one.

"Invented on the Mac" If I keep ripping out my hair I'll be bald in no time. When it comes to getting press coverage in the tech industry, it's a lot easier to get it if you're a Mac program than a PC program. The Mac has always gotten far more attention than its numbers warrant. Often times, the media will actually make statements implying that a given program is unique to the Mac helping carry on the myth that the Mac is the land of innovation while Windows is the land of ch

The Creative Muvo is a great MP3 player...while it functions. Last night mine died for no apparent reason. I don't even use it that much. It simply stopped working. So I went on-line to see what I could do. Turns out, the Creative Muvo is very unreliable. Many people pointed out that after around 90 days they tend to just crap out. Which is annoying for a $80 product. So scratch one MP3 player. I'll have to look around for a new Mp3 player.

Wahkonta Anathema, unfortunately for you, the election acually occurs here on Earth and not in lunatic conspiracy land. So don't hold your breath waiting for the black UN helicopters to scoop up Bush and take him to the mother ship.

Re World War II: Doesn't really matter whether the Americans or late or not. What is not in doubt is the eventual result if the US had not entered the result as far as the UK is concerned. Unless the Europeans are willing to actually do something, no one is going to take them seriously. Complaining on its own is empty. Offering an alternative or taking action to create an alternative are what matter.

Arguing that both should be compsenated equally is absurd. Jessica Lynch's injuries were vastly more serious than Shoshana's. And Jessica will be living with those injuries on a daily basis for the rest of her life. Jessica isn't a hero, but then again, she never said she was. She got a lot of publicity because she was rescued prior to the end of hostilities. Shoshana was turned over at the end of hostilities (formal hostilities anyway). The fact Shoshana got mention at all is amazing

I find Republicans hilarious. Point out an unethical situation, back it up with facts, throw a judge into the mix (be he French or not) - all of it goes against your party's elite and the story is dismissed and ridiculed as: A. French B. Liberal C. Terrorist or D. Un-American I always find it amusing when people lack enough

steven - the words used were standard of living. Not money adjusted for inflation. The fact is that the mean salary of an American today buys a vastly better standard of living than it did in 1950. I just can't see how anyone can possibly argue against that. To have the lifestyle one had in in say 1955, one needs to make a fraction (in inflation adjusted dollars even) of what they did in 1955. Food is cheaper overall adjusted for inflation. Gas is near

Well I've had enough of being marginalised by a bunch of fachist inbreed red-neck fucks. I don't really think Europeans are in any position to call anyone inbred. From a genetics point of view, Europeans are amongst the most inbred groups on Earth. This is mostly due to geography, culture, and language but the net result is the same. Particular

If you want to change the way Windows looks and feels (the GUI) the main way to do that is with WindowBlinds . But some people on Windows XP have found that if their hack their uxtheme.dll they can apply additional msstyles, a basic skinning format made by Microsoft to handle the blue/silver/olive visual styles. So some users have managed to put together some nice msstyles. Most visual styles made are for WindowBlinds, but if you do

Expansion packs are pretty standard stuff in the game industry at this point. We're not out to change the world here, we just want to put out an expansion pack and price it right.

When we got married my wife and I had put a great deal of thought into important issues to us long before we had gotten too serious. We didn't enter into marriage lightly. I think it is for that reason we have had such a splendid marriage over the years. We rarely bicker and have few significant arguments. When it comes to raising children, we bring very different life experiences to it. And boy are those life experiences different. Different to the point that it creates rea

Price points are one of the most challenging things in business to come up with. At what point does something become too expensive for your target audience? It is something we wrestle with constantly. Raising the price decreases the number of buyers but not at a steady rate. The challenge is always figuring out the highest price you can sell for while maintaining the relatively biggest user base. Sometimes pricing things too low can hurt you. People assume that a produ

In terms of blogs on this site I would say there are more left wing sites. There are more sites on the fringe on the left here for sure. The third most popular site on JoeUser is called Sanity on the Left. All I can say is that I don't think you understand what conservatives are really like. Liberals like using terms like progressive but they are, IMO, anything but progressive. They believe in group think, would restrict our free speech rights, and strongly push political corre

How exactly is the US responsible for Pinochet, Noriega, and the Taliban? It didn't put any of them in power. It may have lended support to those countries in various ways. But it didn't "create" any of them. It also had nothing to do with Saddam Hussein's rise to power either. As long as people are going to rant anti-American claptrap that has no basis in reality they'll never be taken seriously. Getting rid of Saddam was definitely a good thing for the USA and every in
