Ever since the original GalCiv, and through all of the expansions and evolutions, I find that I have a recurring problem. So, I'll be scrolling across the map in a given direction, seeing what there is to see. But every once in awhile (about once every hour or so), when I move the mouse cursor away from the edge, the screen keeps on creeping in the last direction I had been headed. Sometimes if I flip to a full-page info screen and then return to the map, the autoscrolling
I am curious about you not selling "Trade" tech. Am I wrong in thinking that, as soon as a race gets trade, they start trading with YOU?
The reason you don't sell Trade is because the price they give you for the techs you sell is calculated as a differential between your Trade/Diplomacy skill and theirs. That is, if you are the _vastly_ superior horsetrader, you'll get considerably more money for it. So that means you want to them to be tradecraft inferior for as much

I find that the _domestic_ economy just never gets to the point where you are not losing money every turn. Add in the imperative need to sink money into espionage (which does _nothing_ to make you money, given the mechanics) and you can only grow if you're willing to build things at a glacial pace. OTOH, if you allow tech trading, you can grow your economy rapidly with influzes of foreign capital. That is, max everything that improves your Research value. Keep spending at 100%. Spli

The absolutely basic question is: Did you enjoy Galactic Civilizations II? That's because ToA is GC2 with a whole LOT of meat on its bones. And if you enjoy tweaking the game to _any_ degree, you WILL be able to tweak it to that degree. Between the basic Create Your Own Custom Race and Customize Your Opponents (which you would have gotten into extensively in Dark Avatar), and the numerous editors now available, you should find your personal level of investment. About the only thing you can'
And the number of agents is stupid too. States on the earth with only few millions of inhabitants have much more agents than agents in the game, where the population is billions of souls.
I suppose it helps if you view a "Spy" not as a single individual, but rather as all the personnel involved in operating an in-depth intelligence gathering individual. That is, behind 007 is MI6 with hordes of handlers, researchers, field tech, analysts, and administrators, along with

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't any of the AI opponents that dumped 25 Spies on me. It most likely was the Dread Lords doing their thing, and more than likely, they dumped 25 Spies on each of the other 7 sentient major races at the same time. 100 turns into the game, it would be unlikely that any of the major races had all that many Spies stockpiled. Furthermore, any _sane_ AI player would retain at least half of his stockpile in order to Nullify any Spies sent after him. For me to ha

So I'm tooling along in a sandbox game. Just me in my custom race against seven other races and eight minor races in an immense galaxy. Now, I understand that the underlying premise of the campaign is that the Dread Lords are lurking in the background, working towards destabilizing all of the sentient races. But along about turn 100, WHAM! _25_ enemy spies turn up on 25 of my planets. How do you eradicate them? You expend one of your Spies to Nullify one of their em
Click games on the left, expand GC2, click TA and install.
Missed it the first (and second, and third) times through. What threw me off was the LONG list of free demos on the same page. And is that what they call an "intuitive interface"? Makes me wonder how the single men figure it out (intuition being a female forte supposedly). Still, they _could_ massively simplify the process for pre-order customers. Just one teenie, tiny email saying "Click here.

Dang! I cannot understand why the whole post won't print! The rest goes: and that I should "Install SDC and use serial above." So I go there and install the updated SDC. Says to restart SDC. Do that. That takes me to the SDC News page. LOTS of destination choices -- _none_ of which seem to go where I need to go. Where do you find the button that says "Download" for ToA? *************** What I can't understand is _why_ can't this process be simplifi

Seems like I had this same problem when DA came out. So I pull up my confirmation email for my ToA purchase. It says that I should go to http://sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral setup.exe and that I should "Install SDC and use serial above." So I go there and install the updated SDC. Says to restart SDC. Do that. That takes me to the SDC News page. L
