I meant we should test proposed changes on a modded game to see what effect the proposed changes would have. The modded game would comprise the proposed balance changes. The modded game would simply be a testing platform - nothing more. Alternatively, I co
Turrets and hangars should be cheaper imo.
The hillarious thing about this is, the minute you make them cheaper and people start using them more, people who play the game online will scream that all the defenses are slowing the game down too much. I would bet everything I own on that. I know the online types. They max all the game speeds out, they play with the quick start option, and they will hate anything that they feel "bogs the game down" or slo
Exile, I don't think most would agree with you that this is a problem. The current system is set up the way it is deliberately so that you have to use your brain to get the most out of trade ports. In other words, just spamming trade ports everywhere willy nilly won't get you as much as constructing the longest line of trade ports. Trade drones will only take the shortest route if you let them. In other words, you have to construct your trade empire so that the short
Some thoughts: I think some of these imbalances can be blamed on the player community. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't players ask for light frig/scout buffs? And now that this has occurred, players are now asking for nerfs? It is a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" for the devs. Also, I see no advantage or utility in going back to lrf/assailant/illum spam. If I have to pick my preference, it's scouts. I hated carrier spam the m
Pbhead or CallenExile, post back here with a proposed date and time you can be online to do this (as well as a screenname). I can do it with either of you if true "pros" can't get together on this. You will have to bear with me on a slow, laggy internet connection, but since this is simply tests we are doing vs. a "real game," I'm guessing that should be okay.
So to be clear, you're all bitching about the supply cost of the Skirmisher, or the DPS.
People are complaining about an imbalanced (weak) skirmisher. I will elaborate in more detail further down.
And since none of you are willing to accept any of the hit and run strategies i've posted (Here, or on the other anti-vasari post i'm in on)...
True, but I don't think it should be labeled as an "exploit", that makes it sound like we want the devs to fix it. Remember how bad TEC colonize was before?
I think we have established that it isn't an exploit.
Once you get level 2 colonize, however, it isn't a bad option to fly in to a 4 mine lava/ice, colonize immediately, let the pirates kill the planet or scuttle it, whichever comes first, wait till you kill all the pirates, and then recolonize before you leave. I've done that a few times, and while rare, it's a slight bonus to the eco.
Yes, when I tried it before creating this thread, it was with level 2 colonize, which gave me 2
Kharma...........who the fuck are you to say i havent played online............
You either haven't played online, or you are stupid. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and presumed that you simply haven't played online. I will say again that I am not formally on the record as asking for a buff to skirmishers. In fact, I have not voted in the thread on buffing skirmishers in the next patch. My interest here was simply in pointing out your (and
I apologize if everyone else and their mother already knows about this, but I haven't seen it discussed yet, so.... At any rate, select the Akkan as your opening capship with TEC, and get the colonize ability. Go to take your first planet. When you get it, you will spawn a free resource extractor. But that's not good enough, you want the others free too. So DO NOT WASTE MONEY UPGRADING THE PLANET YET, rather, scuttle it. After it is scuttled, colonize aga
So is no one going to take me up on this? Why? Do people believe this is not worthwhile? Or do people believe this issue is already settled (if so, in which direction)? Or... just too much of a pain in the ass?
as i've stated before, here and in other posts, the ship is only easily beaten because people try to use it incorrectly.
Yes, you've stated it before, and you were wrong before, just as you are now. You are also being somewhat absurd. Pros who would slaughter you in a game so fast it would be ridiculous can't figure out how to use the ship correctly, but somehow you can lecture to all of us that you know how to use the ship correctly?
how can you say the ship itself is weak when it is undiputably the STRONGEST on the list? Only its fleet cost is unbalanced. The ship isn't weak, it's just easy to outnumber them. You're trying to compare a bear to a pack of wolves here, and not sounding very intelligent in the process.
Are you capable at all of any mathematical reasoning whatsoever? If not, I suggest you don't post on topics like this, because it is you who doesn't sound very intelligent in t
The game is balanced, but there are things in MP that are done that the individual units werent created for (exploiting things like Scouts) People in MP try things you dont see in SP. Using units for tasks they werent specified for. Thats my point about the game being more oriented towards SP because when you push these units like you do in MP you see the differences between each and every aspect. Even RA admitted hes more about the numbers. You dont see these problems in SP because st
Allegiance86, play the game in multiplayer before you post. Playing the game against a shitty AI in single player doesn't give you the qualifications to speak on this. It is hard to take anything you say seriously when that is where you are coming from. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a different view than others - in fact that is fantastic. But you have to know what you are talking about, and clearly you don't.
ccording to the stats Callee
Some tips: Always consider taking out repair bays first when attacking an enemy grav well. Note that you will need a superior fleet to take out an enemy fleet sitting on top of repair bays. If you go in "even Steven," you will lose because he will have repair and you will not. Don't do that. Don't impale your fleet on a particularly tough starbase in a direct assault unless you have the fleet to handle it. Attack it from afar with either bombers or an
It is a bug (already reported) where the antimatter recharger continuously casts over and over again. This bug will be fixed in the next patch of the game. For now, you can work around the problem by TURNING OFF AUTOCAST for the antimatter recharger. Then it will not autocast over and over again and waste all its antimatter. To use it, simply manually cast it yourself. It is a useful ability, unique to Advent. By all means build and use the structure.&n
You need two Weapons Labs, and the first three Hull Reasearches, that's hardly something i'd concider late-game.
I call that late. It would certainly be considered late in online play. You would certainly have illums running around by then, as well as carrier cruisers. At any rate, I agree with you and others that the suckiness of vasari shouldn't be overemphasized. They don't suck that bad, and balance isn't overwhelmingly sucky. Vasari
i can't play online at all right now due to my internet connetion being extremely poor, but i theorized privately a while back that a carrier cap would be cost-effective when it levels up due to the number of sqadrons it would carry. in other words, how much would you have to spend in terms of resources for carrier cruisers in order to host... what's the maximum for carrier caps now... 8 squadrons? can someone confirm whether this is the rationale behind carrier cap spamming?&nb
you can set their facing by simply right-clicking in the direction you want them to face. of course, you want to click very close by your ships, not halfway across the grav well, so that they only move a very short distance. if you want this "set facing" command to occur after a series of moves, simply do what your post above says - hold down the shift key.
I disagree. I just played a game where i used 5 Skirmishers and a Skirantra to clear my first five planets (Yes, it's a capitol, but doesn't even equal 3 Skirmishers in firepower and was only targeted in one grav well) And i didn't lose a single Skirmisher to that endeavor.
Against the AI, or a sucky human who will give you all the time in the world, you could have done the same with a skirantra and one sk
