i think its a little of both really. I mean because of these forums i'm kind of glad that the people over at civfanatics are so crazy and full of aspergers which makes them hate everything but at least the developers get actual feedback instead of gushing and zealotry.

Frogboy, regarding the 1.08 game I played yesterday. I was lucky enough to be placed next to 2 fire shards which meant I immediately tech'd up to shard harvesting. It also meant once I had this, I was unstoppable. Because of the huge bonuses spells get from shards. I was able to one shot everything with the level 1 fire spell which costs 2 mana. I did an average of 24ish damage to every unit twice per roun

Also the "Stop whining" posts are terrible. They want criticism so people are giving it to them. How about you stop being fanboys?
So what you end up having is troops with the latest equipment because they're like 20 gold or so decked out and a sovereign in rags. Which is fine because once you have a shard or two in magic it's pretty much a wrap for anything on the map. A 2 mana spell will deal enough damage to kill anything. More importantly the worst change was tying food and gildar producing buildings together. Food is already very limited, and now this?
A campaign actually makes you care about the characters and lore. A good campaign gives life to the game, which was one of the criticisms that Elemental has had. Look at Warcraft and Starcraft for example? It's campaigns gave life and flavor to it. This criticism is also found in Galactic Civilizations and it had a not so hot campaign itself because it focused more on Sandbox.
I really have no idea why so many people dislike campaigns. I love them. [e digicons]:sick:[/e]
