I never play minion builds, i seem to have a problem keeping my souls up, do u send them away from the battle or just spam the soulward?
Sending Spirits to sit in base seems like a waste to me. Spamming wards is the way to go, though I'm not sure if overlapping coverage ups your percentage chance of spawning Spirits (anyone?)
I think the mistake here is that you are trying to compare YOUR xp vs the OPPONENTS xp, where you should be comparing it to YOUR XP with the upgrade vs YOUR XP without the upgrade.
That's fine. It comes back to how you play, I guess. The way I play on teams with comparable skill I see the benefit almost immediately. I guess that's just me. We can go with the happy rainbow "everybody's different and special in their own way" thesis if it makes peo

I've taken every guide I've written since release and edited it to apply to current gameplay, then crammed it all into one post, along with some new thoughts. If you read all of the previous stuff I wrote you probably won't get much out of this, but I thought any newer players would benefit from seeing it in one place. What would make this golden would be to see a replay+commentary for every point (good or bad) in the comments, and I will certainly edit them into the

Here's the thing. You can point to the numbers on Currency II and III and conclude definitively that they aren't worth it. That's because gold is a baseline - the upgrade doesn't react to events ingame so you can calculate it to the farthing and say it's inefficient. You can't make a similar chart for the XP upgrade and come to any meaningful conclusion. XP isn't received in a steady trickle. The XP upgrade is reactive - it applies only in relation to the e

This is a classic Morale Oak build, and it's decent 1v1, on Leviathan, and wtfbroken on Crucible Thoughts: - I would skip Divine Justice (you don't need Penitence or SoulPower either) and get Shield instead - you aren't going to be fighting alot directly but it will help if you ever get caught out - plus you are tossing your minions away anyway, DJ isn't going to help much unless they are right next to you most of the time.. - What favor are you using?
a 3 second lock would REALLY change things up along with a 60 second cooldown
The cooldown might be a bit extreme - maybe lower to 50 seconds. The opposing have to be on their toes but they have a chance now, as opposed to facing neverending lockdown And yes, this needs a tweak *edit - it wouldn't be as easy but I like lock immunity for 1/2 lock time, too
Drop the soul... its horrible if you dont have any spirits. lol necro prolly
Yep, that qualifies ^^ Also a single point in SP adds to your DPS even without spirits - as it is the build in question does use spirits, so it makes sense I've been playing an Assassin Oak build lately and I had a couple of observations - 1. Divine Justice is great when you are last hitting DGs 2.&nb
A sniping/mines reg just can't cut it in the second half of any close cataract game - no flag control at all.
I think you have to make a distinction here - if you have a good team and one of them is a Snipe/Mines Reg then they aren't looking for a close Cataract game, especially not for the second half of one. The Reg isn't trying for much map control - he lets his allies do that. His sole purpose is to keep your team out of play against his allies. If

I'm a little confused by the mentality I'm encountering in some games where all players are random. With comparable stats one team will completely dominate and at some point late in play someone on the other team will say something like "Premade :/" Then they often RQ WTF is that? You played like a spastic bathtoy but you know, the loss doesn't count because you can tell yourself your opponents knew each other? Shocker: it's possible to
I've got a replay earlier in this thread where I kill Pacov twice and KALel once in the first 4 minutes of a game. Obviously, I shouldn't have been able to get either that early with Oak - but the fact is, with Shield, I at most would have gotten one of those kills. Playing with smart and good teammates, the Penitence just does so much more in any 2v2.
I watched the replay. You Penitence Pacov in melee range instead

Just to add my .02c
the only time you need that 3 second shield is if someone really screws up. That penitence, however, you can use if your OPPONENT screws up. And frankly, the latter is a lot more common.
Hmm, ok, I propose a simple test. You and your skilled Oak opponent both get monks and BotF and meet mid at game open. You pick Penitence and he picks Shield. He saves his shield until you have cast Penitence (stripping the debuff). Bo

It's funny that stats are "fixed" when the essential issue is that every player starts with a base 1000 xp. I'm 30k + right now in rank because I play good players - winning ratio doesn't seem to matter, I'm still going to be lower in rank than the rankest noob who has a 1/3 w/l record.. It's a team game, start using team formulas to calc rank, please... Not to mention that the beta overlay shows only 38% of my games this epoch...I've got 140+ games played and the overlay shows

the flip side of what Pacov is saying is that if I join a game with player who rec me or have played a number of games with me and I'm on the "wrong team" then they will whisp me to leave rather than have me suffer a stomp game, and when I leave it just makes it more of a stomp.. You try to have balanced games but there's nothing wrong with playing with friends = the fact that current system limitations make it seem that way isn't our fault. Kira doesn't look for rolls a

Most of the good team regs I've seen are playing some variation of this build. Personally: Staff of Renewal is an excellent item for a snipe Reg - Anklet is nice but you can achieve the same effect with a wand - speed is less important than simply understanding your exposure. Heaven's Wrath is really good if you know how to use it as a Snipe aid, but bad if you farm your partner's creeps Starting items: Scaled Helm, 3 Totems of Revelation (plant two o

The frustration you see from normally constructive players is a direct result of knowing the build is out there but being unable to touch it. Bacon unicorn in an unopenable box, etc.. If the bacon unicorn weren't so desirable we wouldn't be so negatively frantic about not being able to open the box. It's worth considering the alternate approach of co-opting your player base - give them a beta build to play with and you'll keep them happy at the same time you use them t

The Reticule has a nice interview with dev Chris Park that deals in large part with the trend of a vast silent majority of RTS gamers who never touch the multiplayer component. He doesn't go into percentages but it seemed topical. http://thereticule.com/2009/10/chris-park-ai-war-interview-part-one/

From least skill necessary to most - Erebus Oak Sedna UB Rook TB Regulus QoT (with 1.2 bug fixes she's probably going to the top of this list, but let's see) 1. I'm not saying that you are cheap or bad because you play Erebus - there are some awesome vamps out there, and their skill level can be the same or better as that of an awesome QoT 2. I'm not saying that an excellent Rook/Reg/QoT team can't beat an excel
