i like the living woods idea!
after playing a bunch of rounds i think it would be nice if shopping for equipment was easier like for instance having a window that shows what the character has already equipped next to what is available to buy. its kind of annoying to keep having to jump in and out of the store to see who needs what and what i accidentally bought 2x and i dont really care to see what the shopkeeper looks like lol
I really enjoy random maps in strategy games, but you are very right about it, i definatly would not like to be put in a corner with no materials and the enemy is in the bottle neck lol If you know anyone that worked on Heroes of Might and Magic 3, their random map generator was really good
I believe some of the other types has mismatched names

ive seen your first picture just didnt get a chance to screen shot it 7-1-10 beta 3
Definatly would trade graphics for gameplay! for me some of the most memorable titles have been for the SNES Without listing a bunch, ill pick FF6 for the frontrunner for SNES and For the PC Heroes of might and magic 3, is my all time favorite game ever. nothing special in graphics there. Graphics are an everchanging and evloving thing, but storyline, charactors, events, and mechanics will always be there. i dont like when graphics claim to be "most realistic" and have no

Sounds about right... though this hypothetical friend is missing out on some fantastic chocolate syrup. (Mmmm... Star Bases)
U got that right dude!

Kinda old and I have no idea if people are still playing but it was a great game for its day.
i played that and i loved it, i have some issues with it not working now, dont remember what it was. i think that one would be a cool game to update
I will have to say Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Compleat +web unofficial expantion. But if that is too RPG-Light then i would have to say the Fallout series
Got my vote for x-wing vs tie fighter.Think they tried with x-wing alliance but failed. You get Karma for going Old School!
Descent freespace and freespace 2 were amaizing games similar to X-Wing games
Dungeon Keeper awesomeness Lands of Lore / Dungeon Master Syndicate plus X-Com games / Laser Squad Scorched earth / WORMS! and not the 3-D versions There was also a not too wel known game called Diggles, which i thought was very entertaining, but even on my system now, it runs like garbage i wish that game could have been cleaned up even if these games were
I have only been able to play as TEC for now but the level 2 wepon upgrade for the starbase says "extreme range missile" and it really dosnt appear they have any more range then the basic attack of the starbase...... and it think that they should have a little more range on the missile attacks. when i try out the other 2 sides ill post back otheriswe keep up the awesome effort stardock!!!!!!!!!
This Company is doing it all right IMO I Love the way they are making thngs happen and the way they are saying F U to the other companys that are going rediculiously overboard with copy protection and crap. They have my support!!
Another small suggestion... And this is mainly cosmetic... But allow us to name fleets like we name ships. That might make it easier to select the right fleet from the Empire Tree... "1st Offensive Fleet" or "3rd Defensive Fleet" would allow is to at least keep track of which is which without getting mixed up on colors... which I tend to do, but that may just be me.
this would be a really simple and functional feature, if poss
I played EVE but was dissapointed in the combat, I loved the depth of tech and equipment tho. it would be cool to see it relived in this platform
First i would like to say that the game is very solid and so far been great fun. Something i want to suggest is that the turrets of ships need some moving range, i mean projectiles coming out a 45% angle to the guns facing isnt very eye catching in my book.
