Doesn't requiring a unique CD-Key to get online, get patches, and get tech help via this forum count as copy protection? Not that it's a bad thing, but from my point of view, this game uses more copy protection than most games, which only require a unique CD-Key to play online.
But this is a GOOD kind of copy protection. The type of copy protection they refer to is that whole DRM fiasco of limiting the number of installs and whatnot that's becoming so popular the

Personally, I wouldn't care if everyone agreed that scouts WEREN'T useful. I just can't stand not knowing what's around me. That little gray planet with the question mark on it is horridly irritating. I get seriously uncomfortable going any length of time without knowing my surroundings.
Stop shooting the messenger.I understand developers desire to keep exploits secret, but blaming people reporting bugs to the customers is misguided. Publishing a fix right a way is a solution, banning exploiters is another. Blaming people for informing the community is not.
The problem is that there's a better way to get the exploit fixed than telling everyone in the community how to do it.
I would gladly play around with this as a "beta" version. Heck, I'd even give feedback if you wanted it. No need to wait until completed to release it. ;) ...sorry. This just looks all sorts of awesome, and i can't wait to try it out when you're finished!
...You don't use capital ships? You DO know that capital ships aren't supposed to make up the entire fleet, right? Their major purpose, I believe, is to amplify fleets they're in.
Thanks much!
Quick question: Will these be selected in random maps, or do we need to create maps with these new planet types?
Going to say that this looks incredibly awesome! I'd love to be able to try it out with the Mars Effect mod, which also works to make combat a bit flashier.
Thanks for the instructions on how to combine the two mods! I'll have to do that tonight!
isnt it a big problem if « clan guys » show up in a pseudo FFA with the preconceived intent & plan to manipulate & crush non-clan participants ?
I've always thought that if people come into a game with the preconcieved notion to stay teamed the entire time, they should just set up a team game and stick with that, because it's otherwise frustrating to everyone else.
I'd love to see this mod combined with the extra planetary bonuses mod. As it is, i don't think i can use the two together.
Every phase gate can use it and starts with it on autocast if you researched it.This is a problem I am now encountering, having only begun playing this race. Is there a way, possibly by disabling autocast, to stop this tech from using up all the available supply? I notice if I have any supply available, or I create more supply and don't use it right away, the dark fleet assigns it to a point of negative value in some cases. Right now I am at -4 supply.I assume now, that at some point whe
Its the Bentusi. The Unbound who fled there galaxy from the great destroyer used the Vasari's phase tests as an anchor to jump to the Vasari/TEC/Advent galaxy. Upon arriving there were set upon by the Vasari home-guard which sent the already shaken Bentusi into a fit of desperate rage and they proceeded to decimate the home systems.
Well I'm a bit confused: Only played about 7 games so far, but not on large maps, and it seems to me, on large/huge maps, your just asking for most players to max out tech, and get superweapons, but more importantly, they break the turtle/stalemates. I know when my opponent has them early, due to scouting and other Advent abilities, which also lets me know he's used a lot of resouses and tactical slots to do so, making attacking him more imparative.Just like in Star Wars, if you know a
Woah, I never said to nerf them at all. They are definitely something that was intended to be in the game, and they are very balanced, if you ask me. They add a set of tactics and strategies with how to deal with them. That being said, I don't quite like them. I would much rather win a battle because I fought well, had superior units, had superior tactics, or just had a massive amount of force, and I would prefer to have to fight my enemies on the same basis. Sure, I could j
Just an addendum: I completely understand that my own beliefs are not everyone's. Some people like to use them, and they were originally in the game. I'm not advocating that they're removed or anything like that. I would just like an option to disable them in gameplay for those of us who don't like them.
I've never liked having superweapons in games. If something's going to be doing massive damage to my, I want it as a unit in battle that I have a chance to see and destroy. I absolutely HATE having a nuke dropped on me, or something else that's completely unavoidable. I understand that I'm supposed to keep them from building it, but I feel like they detract from the tactics of a game. When I'm in a stalemate, I like trying to find the perfect strategy to outwit/outperform my oppone
Something I'd love to see is a black market option to directly transfer metal for crystals or vice versa. Often times in the beginnings of a game, I've found an arctic planet, but have no metal, or I've found a volcanic planet but no crystals. It's not a huge burden, but it'd help to streamline my selling process if I could simply transfer one for the other, instead of getting credits, then spending them immediately.
My first actions are always the same: Build the extractors, build a cap ship factory, and try to get 2 civic research stations. First techs to research are ice/volcanic colonization. Build a few scouts right off as well, to scout the immediate area. You're hoping to find some natural choke points to expand to. Take your free cap ship and a few light frigates and begin taking the neighboring planets. Don't take too many, as you'll likely only have one fleet, and de
I always thought that the rocks we harvested for metal or crystal were moons. I mean, aren't most moons just asteroids caught in a planet's orbit?
...what do you think the asteroids holding metal and crystal that currently are in the grav well are, if not moons?
Ugh, I have this issue too. Don't know if it came with 1.02 or not, as I got it AFTER 1.02 was released. I hang for a good bit of time. I'm the kind of person who likes to keep in contact with people via instant messaging, and this puts a serious hamper on my ability to do that.
Seeing as it's currently taken over my gaming life, yeah, I think I will be. I have yet to actually finish a game - but I have spent loads of time in one - 1v1v1 FFA, with at least 20 planets. I know, it's kind of small, but I only get a few hours a night to play, so I relish what time I have.
I know the game already does this on its own, to a point. However, such a customization feature would be amazing. Especially if it allowed for different ship types having different priorities. If they were to implement such a feature I think it would definitely have to allow different ships to have different priorities. Another thought, it would be really nice if we could have a but
These guys really get my respect, as a long-time gamer. Not only have they produced a top-notch game, which I haven't seen the likes of in some time, but they did it with a huge amount of respect to the community. Thanks, devs. Thanks for not treating us like criminals. Thanks for listening to the comments and concerns of the community. Thanks for the amazing capacity for dialogue you have with us. I haven't bought much from you before, but you've gained me as a loyal customer.
