the big issue I guess is if people start making bug reports for problems caused by this fix, sending Stardock on wild goose chases and wasting time. So if you are using this fix, and run into a bug/crash/problem. Double check that it also exists without this fix before you bug report it :)

To make this easier on people instead of having the prepatched .exe I replaced it with the tools needed to patch the game yourself. This way when new versions of the game come out you can quickly update your version if needed. http://ai-machater.googlecode.com/files/ElementalRAMPatchzip.zip

I appreciate the adivce. Back in beta I wanted to share this but in the end was a bit too nervous, as well as I wanted to make sure Stardock were getting all the bug reports from memory issues so they could fix them. Now that the game is released, I see no reason for people who have bought the game to have to suffer through bugs if there is any type of workaround. Glad it is working for you! Would be really nice if Stardock could throw it into a patch temporarily while they fix oth

Even during the beta I never ran into out of memory issues once I used this. Turned the game from unplayable to playable for me. Yes its a band aid until Stardock fixes the issues. For me it was either wait until the issues are fixed to really play the game, or do this. I'm running 64bit windows 7, so with a 32bit OS you may run into the issues, I don't know since I haven't tested with it.

If you have the game saved try this. https://forums.elementalgame.com/393090 See if it helps any, assuming you aren't running windows XP.

READ THIS ENTIRE THING VERY CAREFULLY, UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING BEFORE YOU START MESSING WITH STUFF, ESPECIALLY 32 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM USERS AS THIS CAN REALLY MESS YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM UP IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL First off, you should have at least 4gb of RAM for this. Well I'm still getting out of memory issues quite early on in games and rather than wait for the leaks to be fixed I went and just allowed Elemen

I'm having the same problem with windows 7 x64. The game appears to be hitting the 2gb virtual addressable application space limit and crashing. Sins of a Solar Empire had this problem, so did Supreme Commander and a few other games. I'm guessing they just haven't optimized much yet and textures are eating way to much. For the purposes of beta testing it would be nice if we can get the .exe to be Large Address Enabled? It won't solve the problem, and will only wor

I've won several games where my team were all several levels lower than the losing team. While the losers sat around power leveling, we sat around tearing their base down. Best way to deal with rage quitters is make it so the game can't tip in 1 teams favor so easily, and if it does tip, the game ends faster. I really don't like the whole warscore system as it is. I feel the game is too biased on holding the flags down, instead flags should really

if someone on 1 of the teams quits there should be an option to surrender without it counting against that team. Just wash it, no win no lose. Or surrender with a winner but no loser. Punishing the rage quitters is cool but I think its best to focus on the rest of the players. Sucks having to play with AI on your team, and really equally sucks to have to play against AI, its just a waste of time but you have to keep going to get your "win". So best solution is set it up so there is no

Forgot to make it clear, I am using the ConvertData_Entrenchment from the actual game directory, the one that came with the 1.02 patch, and have tried deleting it and letting Impulse verify my installation and redownload the .exe, no success.

Been trying to update a mod for 1.02 Entrenchment but something isn't working. Everytime I would try the game Starbases would just disappear, but would reappear if I went back to 100% original data. So I went and did a CovertData_Entrenchment on the entire GameInfo folder in Entrenchment folder, then without touching any files started the game, same problem! CoverData_Entrenchment cannot convert some of the files(tactical modules seems to be) and breaks the Starbases. Take the

Playing with all the graphic settings on high and a large map with a good amount of ships is causing the game to hit the 2GB virtual addressable application space limit. I had suspected this was the cause of my game crashing, and after seeing the game using 1.75gb of RAM in task manager I figured it was probably trying to address more than 2gb and crashed. So i changed the .exe to allow >2gb address space, and crashes stopped! This is a proble

Another thing I have noticed is that the AI will sometimes try so hard to save up money to buy capital ships or other expensive items that it will ignore empty crystal or metal asteroids that it could build extractors on, or ignore planets that need population upgrades. I have seen the AI actually go into a negative income because i killed off several extractors and trade ports at some of its planets and it was trying to save up for something, but it went into negative income and just s

Would like to add one more thing that I think would be great(read it in another thread). An option to disable the black market. It may be an integral part of the game, but no more so than pirates, and we can disable them. I'd really like to play a game where it is important to be able to manage not only your credit income but your metal and crystal income. Currently, you really just need to mass credits. In previous versions you just needed to mass something and you could use the market to excha

Best way to get a challenge is a large or huge map. Always use hard AI or unfair and I would say Lock the teams for the best challenge. I would suggest 2v1 or 3v1. or 4v2 you and 1 ally AI. Would always suggest aggressive AI as the others seem to not do what they are supposed to at all. eg. Fortifier AI does not build defenses at all really.

Ok, first off I need to make it clear that I do not play multiplayer so these changes are only going to be related to singleplayer. First I would suggest more options, so that these things that would improve singleplayer play could be altered/turned off for multiplayer. This will make both sides happy hopefully. AI types - I have a real hard time telling the difference between the aggressive, fortifier, researcher and economist AIs. I have been in the habit of watching the AI prog
Caps are pretty well balanced the way they are... dmg/cost vs dmg/cost they match up against any of the smaller ships well enough, and have a deal more HP, which is as it should be, it is bigger after all.
Well, tbh, we aren't talking about balance at all... They would remain balanced if the increase in firepower/hp was offset by an increase in cost. You shouldn't be able to have a capital ship lead every one of your fleets, it should be an important decision whe
