To remove wormholes: Open up your Sins install directory and go to the Galaxy folder. Here are all the maps that ship with the game. Open up your random map of choice in Notepad, WordPad, ConTEXT, Notepad++, or another plain text editor and save it as a new map with a unique name so you don't overwrite the original. Now look in the map's code for the following: ring starRadiusRange minPercentage 0.
jfarber Single player is all I ever play and please don't get discouraged by the negativty. Just ban them and their IP address if they are too childish. There are many people that spend more timing playing than posting. The ceaseless whiners are just more vocal... Great game and please keep the great improvements coming!
Bad idea and here's why: Using a ban as a first reaction to negativity only causes it to go underground. Complaining happens with everything, but it
Yea, out of all the websites on the net why the heck would someone go after this one?
They don't need a reason. Sometimes it's targeted and sometimes it's not. There are people literally actively hunting for any security lapse on any hardware or software in order to exploit it for their purposes. I remember when the university I worked for got DOS attacked. Unfortunately, the attacker(s) didn't realize we were also an ISP with a smart, industry-hardened faculty. Attacking

You didn't read the manual. The story is in there. The story is also online here: [link="https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/lore.aspx"]https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/lore.aspx[/link] Also, the developers have a campaign planned for either a future expansion or as an inexpensive download add-on to the game.
Frogboy I know my own desire to hang out on these forums has declined dramatically with all the moaning that seems to be much ado about nothing. There are users with real issues that need to be dealt with.
This is exactly how I've been starting to feel. The gaming public seems to get hostile over things like they never have before. The causes of that are debatable and it's not necessarily completely their fault (this is not the place to discuss this). I have to applaud y

I ran my strategy on 1.03 last night for the first time against human opponents and it stalled badly after the second capital ship. Yes, I was the capital ship leader the entire time (I always had one more than my opponents), but I had a ton of problems allocating resources due to all the black market changes and because I was fighting a war on two fronts plus dealing with pirates. Resources either sold for less or were bought at a higher rate the entire time, which seriously screwed things up i

It's normally related to the software or database the forums run on. This is a custom piece of forum software and therefore there will be some bugs or glitches to work out. It happens with all custom coded websites that don't use cookie-cutter products for purchase and licensing. The "Server too busy" thing started for me Friday at around 5pm EST and is still going on today. However, I would guess that there are less people trying to get to the forums right now and that's helping what l

Lol! Looks like you played your cards better than your opponent. I too got accused of cheating once for having light frigates stay in the blind spot of long range frigates via giving circular move orders that kept them firing but out of the enemy cone of attack.
How do you have 2 caps + a fleet 10-15 minutes into the game?.
I concentrate first on building the 2 cap ships, conquering the nearby asteroid and planet, and increasing their infrastructure only to stop credit loss. The first cap ship is a Progenitor so it can colonize. I won't even have a scout or disciple until I increase the fleet cap after the second capital ship is built (2 cap ships fit into the initial fleet cap). Sometimes I even temporarily scuttle the frigate factory for
Nah early game the capital ships will have to retreat vs LRM blob. Don't kid yourself man.
There are lots of ways to get around that. My favorite is to jump in a Radiance, order it to fly right up into the LRM blob to literally smack noses with another ship, and then jump in a Progenitor to do shield repairs while basically having it run right into the back of that Radiance. This allows both ships to have all gun ports firing at something. At that close range the Radiance shouldn'

Just to be clear, I wasn't complaining about "deadly secret". I was just bringing it up to make sure extra 0's weren't there by accident. :) I like the variety that both the positive and negative bonuses add. When they show up more often it's more like a worthwhile gamble to explore instead of just something to do when you've got tons of resources to burn.

You will need to use either Bootcamp to install a copy of Windows onto your Mac, or you can install some sort of virtualization (virtual machine) program on your Mac to place Windows in its own little sandbox inside of your Mac OS. Bootcamp is available from Apple for free I think, and virtualization programs may cost money, but I'm not sure. I'm not a Mac user, but virtualization and dual booting is all the rage these days.
Hmmmm...sounds like this strategy has potential. Alot of people slam Advent for being underpowered, but with the right BO, this might work. Do you have replays of this in online play?
I'm planning a game tonight with friends online. I'll turn on the replay recording since you asked. :) I personally think Advent is the strongest race, but that's probably because I like large survivable units. In RTS games I normally get a couple of the big units, pair them up, and strategically

Thanks for the comments. :) I'm so glad this works. I didn't get a stop error/blue screen either today when I disconnected the drive I set that junction with (I had expected to get that due to experiences years ago with NTFS's implementation of these junctions AKA symbolic links). As far as I can tell, everything is working exactly the way it should, which is very nice. None of my games have even realized I put their memory-eating junk where it belongs in/near their own install director

What's my Advent strategy? "Go big or go home". By the time I've expanded my empire so that I have 3 locations I normally have a second capital ship pulling out of the factory if not even earlier than this. If resources are on high I'll even have a third capital ship beginning construction now or shortly after that second one leaves. I normally do this by starting with a Progenitor Mothership for that colonizing ability and let it go alone for a while and get beat up. If enemies are nearby, then

Uzii, I constructed a custom map last night to test out all the new planets. I have to say that I enjoyed all the new planet types and bonuses, with one exception. There's a bonus called deadly secret that showed up on an oceanic planet and wiped out any attempt to colonize right away. It looks like this was the desired effect, but I'm not sure. Other than that, everything else looks great. There were no visual issues or performance hits at all. After manually having increased the bonus
I won't comment on the OP's proposals, since I have very little experience in online multiplay ... but I « warn » Ironclad & Stardock that they risk alienating the vast majority of their customers (who are casual gamers with no « high-level » ladder-climbing ambitions) if they tailor the MP dimension of their game to meet the excessive expectations of a tiny minority of extremists.
I completely agree. Personally, I'm not a fan of organized religion. It's become too much like a business. However, I have my own personal beliefs, views, and religion that shares a lot of the positives from the religion I grew up with and a couple of other religions. I have an operational solution to this problem. Please visit my post here: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/303977"]https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/303977[/link] for the full details. This will allow you to use symbolic links in Windows XP (maybe Vista and 2000 as well) in order to move things that are eating up data in the local settings folders to more appropriate places such as other hard drives or directories.

Damicatz, in order to do what you're suggesting properly, relocating the mods folder is not possible under XP Pro due to the limitations on which folders can be mapped to another location. It appears possible on a Windows system running active directory, but that's not a component of XP Pro. I'm not aware of any XP Pro feature that can accomplish what we're looking to do. It is possible under other OS's, but not Windows, unfortunately. Btw, the search came up empty, as expected.
