The Olympic flame was extinguished today in Paris and the route disrupted. Originally, I was against the boycot of the games in China because the people of Tibet would suffer the consequences, but I’ve since changed my mind. The protests in England and now Paris are alerting the world to the abuses by the Chinese government – not just to the people of Tibet, but to the general population. There was a story about Chinese investment in the U.S. on 60 minutes last night. They have

I just want to say the google ads for this article are fantastic. It's funny that along with all the adds about hell, Satan, the anti-christ... there's an ad for Ann Coulter
The Global Warming™ scam is slowly coming to an end.
I don't know about that.
Gore Launches Ambitious Advocacy Campaign on Climate Former vice president Al Gore will launch a three-year, $300 million campaign Wednesday aimed at mobilizing Americans to push for aggressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, a move that ranks as one of the most ambitious and costly public advocacy campaigns in U.S. history. This is the flag of the republican party: As you can see, there are three pentagrams with two points up. Satanists use a pentagram with two points up, often inscribed in a double circle, with the head of a goat inside the pentagram. This is referred to as the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wi
Nice mandolin. I wouldn't be caught dead with one but hey, to each his own. Just kidding. I saw this guy a few years ago:
Ben: YIKES!! If ours was that high we would starve!!Our home is less than 1,600 sq feet, so it shouldn't be too difficult to keep our expenses down. One of the things I love about it is the vaulted ceiling in the living room and the loft, but that does negatively affect our utility expenses.
Here in Denver, our highest bills come in the winter while yours are in the summer. A ceiling fan in the room with the vaulted ceiling would help circulate the air and might cut your en
I got our first electricity bill today, and it was not great. For a period of about 2 weeks our charge was $87 (after fees, but before the connection fee). We used 647 kilowatt hours in that period of 2 weeks.
$87 for two weeks? Ours has been running over $500 a month! One of the problems with having a big house.
Gas cards wouldn't be practical Why?
Too big of scale. You'd have corruption, incompetence, a huge bureaucracy, a black market for cards...
Tax rebates for people who drive fuel efficient vehicles might be better. Just because you drive a fuel efficient car doesn't mean you don't burn 200+ gals a week on other recreational vehicles. Another bad decision by Hillary. The problem with the housing market was caused by deregulation, though.
Gas cards wouldn't be practical, but at least you're thinking. :) Tax rebates for people who drive fuel efficient vehicles might be better.
Rather than heat the whole house when I'm the only one home, I use a portable oil filled heater to heat the room I'm in, which is usually my upstairs office. In the summer, I work downstairs where it's about 5 degrees cooler and I only turn on the AC when it gets above 80 degrees. Otherwise, I just use a fan.

Yes, but I want one NOW! :)
Amazon came out with their Kindle e-book reading device several months ago. The price is $399 and they can't keep up with the demand. There's a waiting list to purchase them! So why aren't other companies coming out with comparable readers? The Kindle has features that I don't need. I don't need the wireless access or even a keyboard for that matter. I just want to be able to read articles and e-books without having to sit in front of a computer. It's not that big of deal to hook
I'm listening to John McCain speaking about the housing situation. The current "crisis" is due to housing speculator driving up the price of homes and creating a bubble. It is also due to irresponsible lending practices and people who got into homes they couldn't afford. All bubbles eventually burst as did the dot-com stock market bubble of the 90s and as the economy is currently experiencing in the housing market. Home prices are falling because they're over-priced and this is me
This biggest problem with our actions in Iraq have been strategies, or lack thereof. Far fewer deaths would have resulted if there was better planning and execution. Long before Rumsfeld got canned, we had some success with "clear, hold, and build" -- our current strategy with the surge. Rice wanted to widen that strategy but Rumsfeld was too hard headed and only wanted to stay the course, which at the time consisted only of an exit strategy. And of course, much of the blame ca
Actually, only 140 U.S. military personel died in the Iraq war. The rest were killed during our occupation.
That's hillarious!
I'm not convinced that some of this isn't a natural cyclical change, but since the vast majority of scientist believe that man-made pollution is contributing to global warming, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't have any personal stake in it one way or the other. What I do know is we need to lessen our dependency on oil, which means developing alternative fuels and technologies.
Supplier Under Scrutiny on Aging Arms for Afghans Since 2006, when the insurgency in Afghanistan sharply intensified, the Afghan government has been dependent on American logistics and military support in the war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban. But to arm the Afghan forces that it hopes will lead this fight, the American military has relied since early last year on a fledgling company led by a 22-year-old man whose vice president was a licensed masse
Greetings Sodaiho, To add to what you wrote... The Buddha taught that suffering comes from dissatisfaction with the current situation. When we accept things as they are, suffering is alleviated. That's not to say we shouldn't try to change things when we see wrong action, wrong speech, wrong view, and wrong intentions, but we don't have to suffer while doing so. Namaste
