Wholeheartedly agree. Saying a deep strategy game is somehow lacking because you can't complete a map in a day is kind of silly. I'm actually glad it is like it is, it feels epic and challenging. Last game that took a nice long time to complete a match was Heroes Of Might And Magic and this is much longer by far and I am loving it.

Oh yeah, and if you want to get it pretty cheap new - go to www.newegg.com and get the OEM system builder edition. I got Vista 64 Ultimate for 170ish instead of 400 that way. It's totally legit and registered, just doesn't come with any goofy manual. (like who needs that anyway)
Setting up a dual boot is ez mode, just install XP first and Vista sets up the dual boot flawlessly. Good luck, you will be pleased. Most haters talk trash about Vista, personally I have no problems with it and find it to be a great operating system overall that I use at home and at work with equally good results.
SO who's running Vista 64? Running any other games besides SINs?
COD works flawlessly, Hellgate London (when I had it installed) ran great. WoW, the rest of the guy that Tridus has... I have only hit one game that it didn't like, Heroes of might and magic 5. Other than that it seems good to go, though I have a dual boot with XP 64 just in case.
So you used an unfair tactic that you read about and used rather than figuring it out yourself or beating it 'fairly' and that makes the AI poor and needing an overhaul and a harder setting? LOL "Mom, this game was too easy after I used the cheat codes, can you write to the devs and tell them to make it harder?"
This is better news than when I found out my prom date wasn't a man after I slept with her. (the hairy back threw me off)
Couple other things - how much RAM do you have, and how fast are your harddrives? Hard drive speed really has a dramatic effect on how well Vista runs. Just some things to keep in mind. RAM and Processor are important as well (that goes without saying), but the hard drive speed really does impact that OS dramatically due to all the writes/reads that go on as it loads and runs. 2GB Minimum as far as RAM goes.
Runs great on my rig - Vista 64 bit ultimate Runs good on my buddies as well - Vista 32 bit Ultimate I would seriously suggest a fresh load for it, not just an upgrade.
Am I the only RTS player on Earth that regards linear, "story based" lead-you-by-the-nose campaigns in RTS games as boring, pointless, and unplayable? I mean, add a metamap campaign or some other kind of higher level strategic layer and I'm interested, but I can't imagine bothering to play through a story campaign in a game like this. Strategy games simply aren't good story telling devices IMO.Campaign mode? How would that do anything but dumb this game down? This game can go 1000 differe
The thing I don't understand is that if there have been 100k copies sold, how come the online usually only has 300 players at a timeThat's one of my biggest reasons for not wanting to buy it until it goes cheap.
Because it's mostly being played solo and 99% of people are setting up one on one matches with their friends. This isn't a 'pick it up and play it' game for multiplayer purposes. You have to devote hours to it, minimum, and that's not something that is e
The fleet capital ship, the one that deploys fighters, has a healing ability that it uses on other capital ships. As to one faction being too strong or something, it's all in how you play the faction you are using. The Advent are extremely powerful if you focus your research for various vessels and make good use of your skilltree. I have seen my friend really excel with them because I think their millitary is one of the best in the game. I see it as: TEC - balanced
Campaign mode? How would that do anything but dumb this game down? This game can go 1000 different directions based on your actions and the actions of the AI depending on it's settings. I don't want to be limited to some goofy storyline and then be unable to complete it or have to re-do scenarios that take hours to complete because I didn't expand fast enough or an overly aggressive AI happened to expand out faster in one direction and took the planet that is the point of that scenario etc..<
Still lovin it the more I learn about it and the more comfortable I get with it. Truly a sign of a great game.
How can you expect that to accurately target even a cap ship?Because capital ships are BIG. There's no way such a shot can hit smaller ships, but capital ships take up a pretty chunk of space estate. It seems you're saying it's not feasible simply due to how the TEC's siege weapon appears in game. Not EVERY siege weapon is so deliberately inaccurate. The Advent and Vasari siege weapons have very small cones of fire, and have a much higher projectile speed. There's no reason that they can n
I keep typing instructions and questions to my AI allies and they don't respond? I specifically told them to construct a weapons lab and research wave weapons but they ignored me? I used punctuation and everything, what gives?
I think you should be able to duct tape siege ships onto the sides and bottom and top of a Capital ship so they can add their firepower to your main ship. Also we need suicide ships that are loaded down with explosives and dead hookers so we not only blow up the enemy but demoralize them with all the floating weaves in space.
you know you could just turn down the vocal levels if it bothers you that much. That's how I play TEC.
I can't play TEC because they sound like they are going through puberty whenever they are exclaiming the latest feat. I solely play the Vasari so far and enjoy their reptilian voices.
It's already cheap, and I have spent I'd guesstimate $300 on games that suck.(Over the last two years alone) This is bar-none the best value I have gotten for a game with the most returns. This game is replayable, immersive, fun, and most importantly dynamic and heavily supported by the developer. I'm actually surprised you want it 'cheaper' for a game of this quality it doesn't get much cheaper than this and they priced it very aggressively. When a game thi
Bomb them back to the stoneage.
Anchor the key planets that are open to the wormholes with a ton of defense platforms supported by 3-4 overlapping regeneration bays. Have a couple hangars in there for good measure to do further damage. With vasari I also max out the phase missile skill so the platforms do more damage. That seems to dissuade / destroy most incursions into my 'back lines'. Sounds like you have your hands full though...
This post is so completely wrong.Raze planet is not bad at all. Some of my friends go so far as to say it's one of the top skills in the game (along with Malice, shield regen, AM burn, etc.) It's 2,4,6 bursts of 80 damage. Considering an asteroid only has 1000 hp, it's pretty useful.Gauss is incredibly good only if you micro it. You have to gauss targets at 15% mitigation, THEN focus fire it (800 damage for 75 mana? Count me in). Leaving it on autocast is just lazy. Further, Kol at
I guess that's what I meant, there was a big red sun and that's where I pursued the attackers, then they jumped from there to ???. I wasn't aware you could jump from wormholes and from stars, I guess I need to guard against attacks from there as well!
