From what I've seen, publishers tend to look at the number of DLs on torrent sites to see how bad piracy actually is. By DLing the game, you already added to that number.

The 8400 is a pretty weak card. In nVidia's numbering system (the new GTX series aside), for gaming you want to avoid anything with a second number of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.

+1 for Ke5trel's suggestions: Sci Fi: Iain M. Banks. He's an excellent choice. I also like Peter F. Hamilton. Fantasy: Glen Cook's 'Black Company' seires. Great stuff. Something older that you should read if you haven't yet: Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series.

Get the GoG version. It's legal, it's only 6 bucks, it's DRM free, it's the full game, it works on Win XP SP3, and you can install mods on it if you want to.

Just for clarification: Stardock Impulse orb in upper left -> Preferences -> Folders. Then click on the dropdown under Install Locations in the right hand window. Choose My Games, and click on Change. Choose your install location.

As noted, XP handles it fine. I have a 19" regular and a 22" widescreen and have them both at their native resolutions with no issues. That being said, I use DisplayFusion so I can have separate wallpapers on each one.

For me, it's because I like to have my program files on a separate partition from my games. My games are all on one partition, yes, but now I have a Steam folder on that partition with the Steam game inside it. Not a big deal, really, but not the way I like to organize my system.

But yeah, it's apain in the arse and should be set up so you can choose to install the actual game wherever you want, no matter where you install Steam.

The only way you're going to get patches and updates for Stardock programs and programs bought through Impulse in the future is through Impulse. So yes, if you buy more Stardock products, you'll be forced to 'jump through hoops' to get them updated.

Not for me, no. My preferred genre of games is cRPGs, so my top five list would be in that genre. But I like Sins a lot and it being the first game of this genre that I've tried, I can say it's a f***ing awesome game.

Sounds similar to the message I got from BioShock when I installed a second hard drive. However, it only came up when I tried to start the game, not on the initial computer boot. I'd boot in safe mode and do a virus/malware scan just to eliminate that as a candidate.

I'm not a fan of the on-line distribution/control schemes, whether it be Steam, Impulse, or something else. That being said, I broke down and installed Steam solely to play Mass Effect when it finally appeared without that idiotic DRM attached to it. (Of course, Steam is DRM is its own right).
